So I plucked up the courage and went for a free consultation with Ultralase. The consultation went very well and everything was explained to make you feel at ease. There was even a payment plan which helped me spread the payments across the year which helped. I decided upon Ultralase as I knew a friend who had it done there and his eyes had no problems and that was about 7 years ago. I had mine done about 2 years ago and I must say it's something I definitely do not regret and so glad that I did go ahead with it. It's changed my life as now I can wake up and see and not have to worry about going for eye test and spending more money on glasses. The other greatest feeling is that I have perfect 20-20 vision which is amazing. If you are thinking about eye laser surgery then I would highly recommend coming to Ultralase for a consultation. I'm not sure if they are free anymore but worth going to if you want to be glasses-free. It's money well worth spent and something you will not regret doing.

The place was very clean and the reception staff were very courteous and helpful. The consultants she seen were very professional and knowledgeable. All of the equipment was cleaned before they used it to do there tests and they could not do enough for her. Very impressed all round and I would recommend anyone go here for your eye needs.

Harley Street is renowned for a reputation of offering top medical care and the fact that a chain store such as Optical Express is situated in the heart of Harley Street, this place doesn't dissapoint. You are greeted with warm staff, a homely feel to the place, comfy sofas, a TV and comforting drinks such as hot chocolate to put you at ease. After all, the thought of having laser eye surgery can be a little daunting but those worries are quickly squashed. The staff are informative and perform thorough tests to determine if you are able to have the surgery. My surgeon and the nurse was funny and made it feel like it was a day out rather than an operation. I say operation, it was more like 5 minutes, no pain and then I sat in a darkened, quiet room for a while and it was time to go home! It takes a little while for your eyes to settle but the results are going from having a high prescription, using contacts and glasses to 20/20 vision. I would highly recommend Optical Express as they use the latest technology, after all, if it's good enough for NASA astronauts, it's good enough for you and me. The Harley Street branch is conveniently central and has a home from home feel.

After paying £6000 for Clear Lens Extraction with Advanced Vision Care, W1, I ended up with a…read moredetached retina and almost lost my sight in my right eye. I had to undergo emergency surgery with a "well known and respected eye hospital in EC1" that I am not permitted to name as Advanced Vision Care will report this comment for naming a 3rd party. When I approached Advanced Vision Care to express my disappointment at the detached retina, they replied that "I had signed the terms and conditions and as such, Advanced Vision Care were not at fault". They then cancelled my follow up appointments with weak and contradictory excuses and to compound my misery, sent me a flyer (TWICE) advising me that if I recommend a friend to use AVC I could receive £200. Recommend? I nearly went blind?? They did though, worryingly send me the surgeon schedules for Moorfields that I should not be in receipt of and when I raised, they ignored me as if it never happened. A catalogue of concerns? They also remove negative reviews and will only publish those that are positive and favourable. So once you read this comment, it will soon be removed. If you are considering eye surgery with Advanced Vision Care, I'm sure your surgery will be fine but if it's not, then you'll really start to understand what I have been through. Nearly going blind is not a good place to be in.

I am surprised by all the one star reviews for this place...they could do with some improvements,…read morebut it wasn't that bad!! The good: - I've been searching for new glasses for MONTHS!! But I find it quite hard to find any that suit me as I have quite a narrow head. However I found 2 pairs within this store that were both so good that I couldn't choose between them. Yaaaay! - The prices are pretty reasonable (my glasses were £120 and £130 before their various discounts...which is more than specsavers, but much less than most of the shops that I've looked at.) - As I decided to take both pairs of glasses, they gave me £50 off one pair *and* free lenses for one of them. The less good part was the service: - No staff helped me at all while I was choosing...but that was okay as I had my husband to help - Once I had decided which glasses I liked, it took soooooo long to input my order into the system. Seriously I have a slow computer at work, but their IT system makes it seem positively whizzy! - To call them you have to phone one of those horrible machine phone voices and choose from lots of options, and then wait a while before they pick up. Urgh. - Once my glasses were ready, I called and told a member of staff that I was walking over to pick them up...he didn't bother to tell me they close early (5:30) on Fridays, so I walked all the way over there to see a locked front door. Thanks. In the end, I managed to buy two really nice pairs of glasses, for £300, including lenses (yaaay!) ...but I don't think this is the best place to come if you want advice from the staff or if you want to buy your specs speedily.

Last time I was here the staff were doing the test where they puff air in the eye. I'm very sensitive to such stuff and instead of being patient and sympathetic I was told off saying 'this is not a game'

At first, the experience was pleasant and the woman who tested my eyes was friendly but then she begun telling me that I needed glasses to have at home, and I made it clear to her that I didn't want glasses. After the eye test was finished she took me outside in the showroom to another man and she gave him my results and asked him to show me some glasses. I felt really uncomfortable cause I was pretending to having a look at the time that I made it clear to her that I didn't want to buy glasses. Even worse, when I asked to have my results, he told me that I needed to book another appointment that costs £20 to get it. If the terms and conditions on the voucher said that, I wouldn't mind paying the £20 but not like that. I HATE companies that have "offers" with a catch. I will never visit them again. Scam.

They have been rude and dismissive, and only admitted there was a problem after a long battle, but only just after the time lapsed that I could have claimed compensation, meaning I could have seen an eye surgeon that may have been able to help. To add insult to injury, whilst I was complaining about my problems they sent me a spam email saying they'd never had any problems! These people should be shut down, I'm apalled that they can still do this to people, I have since met another person who has also had severe problems, avoid this company at all costs
