Injuries are the worst part of being an athlete. You'll never know when minor or major injuries will hit you just by doing sporty activities. I've seen a lot of devastating injuries suffered by professional athletes whose careers got negatively affected and some even having met their careers end. I guess it's one of the reasons why I've always been afraid of doing sporty things and why I get jumpy whenever I see my brothers or my boyfriend get hit during basketball.
Here in the Philippines, my boyfriend has told me a lot of stories of common playing Filipinos also suffering the same kind of injuries that hit professional athletes. But of course, professional athletes have the luxury of recovering faster because of the services and training they get from their own physical therapists. But if you're just a normal person who accidentally gets a bad hit, you can only rely on ice, resting your bruises and therapy that can be Googled (at least that's what I do whenever the boyfriend gets into a minor accident). A little scary, don't you think?
Thankfully a fitness facility in Pasong Tamo called Focus Athletics has been helping a lot of players get back on track after an injury. Focus Athletics is a facility for everyone, whether you're a corporate employee who got injured during one of those weekly basketball games with friends, a college kid who got injured while playing pick up basketball during PE and even professional athletes who experience minor or major physical problems.
Of course I've never gotten to use Focus Athletics but I did go with my boyfriend once to check the place out. It's not your normal congested gym with a lot of fitness machines like treadmills. Instead the facility is spacious in the middle part mainly because it's being used for different exercises and drills needed to strengthen parts of the body. In Focus Athletics, they provide a specific program you need to follow based on what your body needs in order to perform better and recover faster. Once you visit the gym, you would see mostly people who are recovering from their injuries and some those who are doing everything to increase their level of performance in their given sport.
If you're lucky enough, you can also do gym time with celebrities like Isabelle Daza and Anne Curtis. They're just some of the celebs that frequent this place. Once you sign up, the trainers would ask you what you plan to achieve in a given time and come up with a program designed to meet your targets. Found in the 2nd floor of the facility are the rooms used for muscle recovery and therapy, which are mostly used for guys or girls recovering from knee injuries like ACL and MCL tears.
Focus Athletics is a perfect facility for people who have experienced nagging injuries and even for those who want to raise their level of performance. Aside from providing physical training, Focus Athletics aims to tap into your mental toughness and check if you're really in for the grind to be a better athlete. read more
