Wow. Talk about a true dining experience. The food is great, the service is outstanding, and I leave the restaurant satisfied, every time. The sweet and spicy calamari is to die for and keep the focaccia bread coming! The salmon is is moist and tender, I get it every time. And the dessert, every time I eat the Lemonchello Marscapone Laired cake (topped off with fresh white chocolate shavings), I feel like I died and went to heaven, but then I came back from heaven to have another bite! The food was excellent, but the service left something to be desired. Our appetizer order and dinner order were taken quickly and were served reasonably quickly but we needed to ask for replacement silver ware to eat our dinner after the appetizer plates were cleared. After dinner, we ordered dessert and coffee, but we all finished our coffee before we received our dessert. I didn't feel that the service was as attentive as is it should have been. We have been to this restaurant a few times, mostly when we can't think of any where else to go. Now I remember why. The first time the restaurant offered to buy us dessert because the service was EXTREMELY slow and negligent. They just didn't pay attention to us and the food came 1.5 hours after we ordered it. We gave it another try with the kids and the food was so slow they ate 4 baskets of bread while waiting. Last time and final time we tried this seemingly neighborhood place, the staff was beyond rude, our food once again, took forever and we left even before it arrived. Perhaps I chose a bad night - Friday, but the service and the food were disappointing and not worth the price. Full disclosure - my husband and I have dined here plenty of times prior to this past Friday, but almost always in the winter - when outdoor dining is not a consideration. It would seem the addition of so many tables has stressed the kitchen and the wait staff past its breaking point. We did dine outdoors. Once our salads reached us, it was another 45 minutes to an hour before we were served our pasta courses. I don't think I'm being unreasonable when I say an hour is a long time to wait for pasta. Sadly, it wasn't worth the wait. Homemade pasta is dusted with flour to keep it from sticking. Flour should be shaken off before the pasta is cooked. Mine was not. As a result, my entire dish - sauce and all- tasted gritty and flour laden. All that said - because of my past history, I will return, but not on summer weekends. I'll save my taste buds and dollars for a time when I know their attention will be on the food, and the service - which has always been great up until this last experience. I do hope though the owners/managers will take this to heart and in the spirit in which it was intended - perhaps remove a few outdoor tables? That will ease stress on the kitchen and the wait staff -- and make for a much better dining experience for your customers. read more

We went for dinner on Saturday, it was our anniversary, and were hoping for a special dinner. People sat at the next table arrived after us, and got waited on first. We had to get up and ask for a waiter! It took 15 minutes for us to get a waiter. When we asked if he was our waiter, all he would say was "I'm your waiter for the rest of the dinner." Even after repeated direct questions, he would not say, but I suspect that there was no waiter assigned to our table. The dinner was OK and uneventful. There had to be ten wait staff members standing around, pouring water, picking up dishes, offering fresh ground pepper and offering dessert, but there seemed to be only three waiters. Then we asked for our check, and asked for our check, and asked for our check, finally the hostess was seating a couple and we asked for our check again, still nothing. Finally a service staff member came over and asked if we wanted dessert, and we asked for our check a fifth time, and got it, but not from "our waiter," we never saw him again, from a bus-boy. When we left we noticed that a couple several tables over was wondering where their waiter was, so that they could place an order. I would never go back, even if it was free! read more

Just had the worst experience in my life here. Salads took over 45 minutes to come out and were so small they were finished in about 3 bites. I ordered Red Snapper special and they tried to pass off another fish as snapper. It must have been sea bass or something very thick and overcooked. Dish must have been sitting a while because sauce was congealed and it was served over mushy pureed carrots and spinach, texture reminiscent of baby food. When I complained about the fish being over cooked and sauce being congealed, I was asked directly by the manager "Are you happy now maam?" When I responded "No", I was told that there would be no charge and we could leave whenever we wanted and he said "We will still be here tomorrow". I have never been treated with more disrespect in my life. DO NOT GIVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT YOUR TIME OR MONEY. read more

I have never written a bad review of any restaurant before but I feel that I can't, in good conscience, not let others know about the poor experience we had at this restaurant tonight. Clearly there was an issue with lack of staff. We waited and waited for apps, main courses and finally had to beg for the check. The server took our order and just disappeared. We asked for silverware, we asked for salt and pepper, we asked for bread, we asked for water. Everything that should have been part of good service was missing. People near us were leaving without waiting for dinners to arrive. It was just that bad. Finally, we asked for the coffee and dessert menu. When there was little to no response we asked for the check. We also asked to see the manager. The owner came to our table. We told him that we had waited for everything, the service was terrible, and we would like to understand what had happened. He said he didn't see what was wrong with any of that. We said we probably wouldn't be back due to the poor service and he said, "I hope you won't." Seriously? This is how they choose to treat their customers? I don't even know why I gave this place one star. It doesn't deserve any. Don't go here if you have an ounce of dignity. To be treated poorly by a harried staff is disappointing. To be treated poorly by the owner is insulting. read more

Every few years we go back to this place, but it's always disappointing. This time the online menu looked yummy, but on the actual menu everything had one too many ingredients: often either chili or hot cherry peppers. While cherry peppers are part of the Italian tradition, chili is not. There were several items that I avoided because of this. Make up your mind guys- Italian or not? They have a beautiful large patio and the vegetation is lush. The dining rooms are inviting and the staff very friendly, really nice and attentive. I would make it a bit less expensive too- at least for pastas and salads. And one olive + one teeny piece of cheese for each diner on a plate is a bit much, even complementary, on a plate with little bruschetta toasts. Don't serve it at all if you can't be generous. read more

The 2 brothers who own Focacceria are great hosts. Since adding an outdoor brick patio for dining off the front of the restaurant a couple years ago, it seems to be a popular spot for great food. I live nearby, and drive by Focacceria frequently, and the patio always has a nice crowd. It's BYOB, which means you won't be disappointed with your wine selection. Many years ago they served a fantastic ricotta gnocchi dish, which was replaced by something different, so it had been a while since a tried it, but now they've brought back the original homemade ricotta gnocchi, and all is right with the world. Was looking to try something new in the area and came across Focacceria. Had a 7:30 reservation for last night. When we arrived at 7:20 parking was a mess.. should have been first clue.. and we noticed a lot of people standing around the front entrance. Thought maybe it was a huge group that had finished and were saying their goodnight's.. then noticed they were all still holding wine bags. This wasn't looking good but thought.. glad I have a reservation. When we made it to the front desk these girls were overwhelmed and very confused. There were no less then 25 - 30 people standing around.. ALL with reservations. We were told it would be 20-25 minute wait depending on how fast people finished their meal. This made a few people standing behind us chuckle as it was now 7:30 and their reservations were for 7:00. Turns out there were quite a few more with 7:00 reservations and even more with 7:15. We decided we wanted to eat sometime before 9pm so we left and went a couple miles away to Trattoria Bolu.. nice little place but I'll write that review separately. Unfortunately I had an awful experience at this restaurant on Saturday night. A special birthday occasion for my mom turned into a ruined evening. The staff was beyond rude and slow aside from the sweet hostesses that were running around doing the job of 3. We sat at our table for 25 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us with bread and water. Our waiter finally came over (after asking a bus boy to send him) and demanded a full order (apps and entree) without even discussing the specials with us or introducing himself. As the night continued, no one asked how are food was or even acknowledged us to see if we needed anything. I ordered the Chicken paillard which was completely bland with no seasoning. No one even asked me if there was a problem - just removed my full plate of food with no comment. Then check was presented and that was it. I was so upset that I went inside and asked for a manager - I waited 20 minutes to speak to the owner who was BEYOND rude to me and not even apologetic as he made me stand there waiting for 20 minutes. He was defensive, unapologetic, and rude. He didn't seem to care that we were completely neglected and told me that "you already paid so there is nothing I can do." it was beyond unfortunate. by 1030 PM we were finally leaving. The next day when my mom opened her to go container to eat her remaining 4 slices of seared tuna, she noticed that only 2 pieces were packed. Overall it was just an awful experience and it is unfortunate that the attitude and mentality of management most likely sets the tone for the rest of the staff. read more

Very disappointing. The only positives were that they honored our reservation and their pesto they served with their focaccia was flavorful. Went as a party of four with a Sat night 7:00 reservation. We were rushed to place our order, even after asking our waiter once to give us a few minutes to look over the menu. We were done with our meal soup to nuts by 8:00 and the meal was terrible. One dish, the $30 veal rollatini special was sent back since it had absolutely no flavor. The fettuccine bolognese had very little meat and almost no flavor. They should also teach their busboy to keep his hands off their guests, every time he refilled the water glasses he kept putting his hand on my wife's shoulder! read more

This was the worst restaurant ever! We went here to celebrate our anniversary. What a disaster. We will never return. We should have left right when we were seated. I don't know who is writing good reviews for this place, but do not listen to them! It is being run by high school and college students. The manager is no where to be seen or heard from. It started with their bruschetta coming out soggy and appearing as if it had been sitting in the kitchen on the counter for awhile. Then the fly swatting began in front of us. Yup 3 kids trying to kill flys while we sat there. One came out with a fly swatter and told us he was given the job to kill flys. Food.. terrible! I didn't even eat mine. I had ordered a pasta dish. It was so salty and awful. When they came to take it away they never even asked if it was ok or what was wrong with it. My husband had ordered risotto with lobster and other seafood. They never mentioned mussels and we asked for them to repeat the special 2 times. First, yellow Spanish rice is NOT risotto. Second, there was no lobster and there were a ton of mussels. He doesn't eat mussels and never would have ordered it if Never even ordered dessert. Called 3 times to speak with the manager and to this day have not received a phone call back. Went here for dinner on a Saturday. After making a reservation on Open Table and requesting Outdoor Dining, we were told by the hostess that outdoor reservations would not be honored. There was no mention of this anywhere on Open Table, so beware. We were however seated fairly quickly. The watermelon salad was refreshing and delicious. The eggplant lasagna was good, but nothing special. Service was good, ambiance was nice. Overall, a good time, however nothing spectacular. read more

This place is amazing. Cute local restaurant I went to for the first time last night. The staff were very friendly and the food was incredible, not to mention the ambiance was perfect (we sat outside). I ordered the baked octopus salad for an appetizer, prosciutto wrapped shrimp for a main, and fresh fruit with sorbet as a desert. Side note- the octopus was some of the best cooked and most delicious octopus I've ever had in my life. Cannot say enough great things about this place, highly recommend. read more

Our group walked out of this restaurant for a table of 11 had a reservation at seven and they didn't even have the courtesy to call to tell us they lost power. They told us that we can eat outside but it was first come first serve and then took us upstairs where it was over 100°how do they keep reservations and don't have a courtesy to tell people that they will not be able to seat them or that they lost power unacceptable and unprofessional. My favorite part is that they had extra crispy chicken as the special and Probably because it was 105° in the kitchen. I felt bad for the cooks that the management kept it open and they had to work under those conditions. read more

I went to this establishment on my last day in America before my trip to Asia. I waited so long for my waiter between rounds I almost missed my flight even though I told them about it. We ordered meatballs and crab cakes but we received calamari and crab cakes, but no meatballs! Eventually we had to leave (for my flight). Rumor has it that they're still killing that cow to make those meatballs. Seems like Bessie was giving them a bit of a hard time. Beyond that, my visible accent was a point of ridicule which I did not appreciate. America: without my accent, you would have no tech support. The food? Alright. The prices? Not alright. Truth be told, that calamari is 10 dollars at PF Chang's. If I was in a bind and food was on my mind, I still would not return. We have been here a few times prior and have had good experiences. However, after tonight's dinner experience, we will not be returning. We had a 7:15 reservation and when we arrived to a packed waiting area, we were told it would be another 20 minutes. 50 minutes later, we finally were seated. After complaining about the wait, we did get a free appetizer; however, that was the only bright side of the evening. I ordered the eggplant lasagna, which I've had twice before. I was extremely disappointed when I received a portion that was at least half the size of the previous times- it would have been okay if it was an appetizer. I would have complained, if the waiter ever returned. Two of the other meals were as equally small, only one was a normal dinner size. Despite the food tasting good, I feel like I need to go home and eat after spending $18 on a meal. We will not be returning or recommending this restaurant anymore. read more

Visited for the first time last night after making a reservation. It's 1 star overall but some of the food was 4 star quality. The place was busy which is to be expected on a beautiful summer Saturday evening so maybe that explains some of the issues we had. Once seated and ready to order, one of our party wanted to go slightly off menu for an appetizer and the waiter ( I think he was the head) actually rolled his eyes when he was asked to go an ask the chef if they would do veg risotto as an appetizer. After that we were seen to by the younger wait staff. Any way the appetizers food-wise were excellent ( I had calamari). I ordered NY strip very rare, and it came back medium, so I sent it back. 10 mins later it came back rare, but was tough as John Wayne's horse. My wife's pasta had obviously been microwaved as it was stuck together. The Manager/owner ( not sure who was who) was schmoozing with everyone but our party. My expectation is that if a table sends food back, the head waiter or manager should at least tend to the issue and/or apologize. In hindsight we should have asked to see him. Anyway Dessert was fantastic and when the bill came up and they had already added 20% for gratuity. So we just paid and went. You may think reading this that i/we are whining people, but that is far from the truth. The fact is it all went slightly downhill from asking to go off menu for an appetizer. The rest of our party enjoyed their food so this place is capable of delivering good food. I think the head waiter and management/owners need education in customer satisfaction hence the 1 star rating. I/we won't be going back and I wouldn't want to prevent others, but others rate this place highly so it's like a "buyer beware" review read more
