If I could give it zero stars, I would. The vault for my father's burial was ordered and paid for 4…read moremonths before his funeral. The day of the service, thirty minutes prior to the burial at the graveside, our funeral director got a call that they were unable to bring the vault to the grave for the service. All of our family and friends that traveled across the country to bury my father were no longer able to, myself included. Fort Miller came TWO DAYS LATER with the vault for my father to be laid to rest ALONE, without his family there! Everyone had already flown back home and we all had to miss the actual burial. This is disgusting and unacceptable. How could they do this to my family, my father and me? We all needed that closure. There is no excuse. The owner or whoever called RIGHT BEFORE the service should have moved mountains to get the vault there, if needed. Thank you Fort Miller for ruining my father's graveside service. There is no do-over with a funeral. My father deserved better than this. Shame on you!

At the time, I called around to at least 4-6 different places in the Albany area to understand the cremation options available, at a very stressful time obviously. Roy was BY FAR the most compassionate, patient, responsive, and clear about what to expect. Seriously, you just don't want to deal with the impersonal or callous attitudes that came across in my first phone call with some of the other places that offer cremation services. There wasn't even the smallest hint of anything other than the ideal level of genuine helpfulness from Roy. On top of that the prices were extremely fair, and the environment and decor in the Simple Choices funeral home is very comforting. Looking back, it also feels good to have supported a business & team that is committed to doing the right thing for people at their worst times. They live out ALL the values stated on their website.
