Cracked serving boards - hardly hygienic!
    Terry C.

Very disappointing - from the lukewarm coffees to the overly loud music to the cold chips and modest burgers served on wooden platters that were cracked and stained (don't mind clean boards) - not hygienic at all. Not once were we asked how we were enjoying our meals (maybe they knew!) The kitchen is across a public walkway and sits there waiting for service staff without any heat lamps - no wonder it's lukewarm on service. The Grounds of Alexandria should be embarrassed to have given its' name and products to this place. Needless to say we won't be back

This is probably one of the most pricey but superb cafes located inside a shopping centre (definitely in this suburb) if not in Sydney. But the price premium comes with multiple benefits. 1. Good decor and atmosphere (the place is decorated in a quadruple height space with multiple shrubbery, flower pots). Those who come expecting psychedelic colours will not get what they wished for. The 'Flower Child' refers to the freshness and organic nature of their food sou The table pieces were appropriate without being excessive. 2. Lovely synergy of food: I tried the 'Prosciutto & Asparagus Soldiers'. On paper it looked like an unlikely combination - prosciutto, asparagus, with an eggs Benedict made on croissant. It is a case of the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts... the meal was not heavy or light. It was a good infusion of flavours, leaving a pleasant after taste. All of this accompanied by "The Grounds Alexandria" coffee. I will return and try the rest of the menu!

Have been here few times and today was quite bad and 3 of us all didn't like what we ordered . The poke bowl is nice but there is just too many cubes of radish... ewww and it has a very strong smell. I personally hate it . Friend ordered this thing that had black toasts and the sauce on the side is like fishy hosin sauce (like huh?) . The topping was just huge and bulk cut different type of tomatoes ... (for 17 bucks maybe the tomatoes should be coked )

This place is annoyingly good. There are long wait times for a reason, and damn it if I wouldn't wait again for the food here. The good part of it is that they take your number down and call you when a table becomes available so you're free to wander around Westfield for a while. The service is fast and efficient. The moment we finished our food, the dishes were taken, but they were happy to have us chatting at our table for a while longer as the queues were dying down by the time we finished.

Good food, good vibes. Flower Child is an unexpectedly nice cafe/brunch place at the Westfield entrance (one of its many, above Hawker lane). The menu consists of all day breakfast items as well as some heavier lunch meals. Top that off with a variety of freshly pressed juices and smoothies, you've got yourself a winner. The barramundi burger was delicious, with a large fillet of crispy battered barramundi on a bed of slaw, sandwiched between a fat milk bun. Comes with a side of chips, thinly cut and vaguely reminiscent of maccas chips. The eggs bennedict was nontraditional, served on a croissant with a choice of prosciutto or cured trout. Still good, and satisfied the hungry GF. Juices were also fantastic, especially the one with apples, ginger and mint. I'm sure it had a few more fruits, but those flavours were the most obvious. The service was fast, efficient and considerate - going to lengths to pull the tables out for the people sitting in the booth. Otherwise, the indoor seating area is a little cramped (cosy?) but the decor is very nice and quaint. All in all, great place in a convenient location!

Given the crowds I have seen here, you would think the food is crazy good. WRONG! Ordered a flat white and breakfast bowl. The flat white was meh. The presentation of the breakfast bowl was so pretty, but the chorizo was salty af and the rest of the stuff unseasoned. The only redeeming item on the bowl would be the slice of bread. I highly recommend this place if you are about the 'gram life. If you're someone that enjoys yummy foods, go somewhere else.

I had been wanting to visit The Flower Child for quite a while and my friends jumped at the chance for a catch up brunch here. We were expecting a line for a table but the wait wasn't more than 10 minutes and as it's located within the shopping centre there are plenty of stores to waste some time in. The staff took our number and called us when a table was ready, they were really welcoming and professional throughout the whole meal. The menu boasts an all day breakfast and lunch which was an instant winner for me and the only thing we didn't like was having to choose between all of the gorgeous dishes! There seems to be something for everyone whilst still being adventurous and fresh. We started with drinks, I got the watermelon juice and my friends got a cappuccino and a long black. For food I went for the French Toast and my two friends went for the Chicken Salad and the Prosciutto and Asparagus Soldiers. The food looked beautiful and tasted even better, plus the portion sizes were generous. My drink was really refreshing and my friends said the coffees were good too. The space is also absolutely gorgeous, lovely atmosphere with plants hanging above you and lots of natural light to get the perfect Insta pic! I can't wait to come back here and try something new from their menu.

Chatswood is such a convenient place. I thought we were able to find everything in there, except one thing, a cool cafe for a fancy breakfast. But those days are gone. We got the Flower Child Cafe! You will be stunned by the very green and flowery atmosphere inside the cafe. It's hard to imagine you are eating in a shopping mall. I've been there numerous times, but trust me, all the foods I had there were not only looked fancy but tasted really good. No wonder there is always a long queue. Luckily you can leave your number and spend time for shopping while you are waiting for their call. Now Chatswood has everything I need. :)

Flower Child is not a 70s themed fondue cafe (sadly), but one giant nod to The Grounds. In typical Grounds style, it's all pretty good, good coffee (though the waitress had to ask what a pour over is!), faux vintage furniture and enough hanging planters to make you forget you're in a shopping centre. The menu was full of fancy sounding ingredients like compressed pineapple and folded eggs but it seemed like just different words for the same kind of things. Nothing wrong with calling it scrambled eggs, friends! Don't get me wrong, the food tasted fine and not dissimilar to any other decent cafe in Sydney, and perhaps that's where it falls down. With all the hype, I think I expected more and with some originality. Yes it's gorgeous, but perhaps this Flower Child is copying it's bigger sister Grounds a bit too much without looking for her own style. I'd be curious to see whether the desserts and drinks menu expands as it seems the large drinks prep area comes at the sacrifice of more seating. Given its prime location and instagramability, this place had a good 20min wait even after the lunch rush on a weekday. It was a tight squeeze with three people around a two person table. Despite the close quarters, it was surprisingly hard to flag down the waitstaff. Perhaps one to just keep on the list for coffee runs.

Really nice food with large portions and pretty decent service. However, there's very limited vegetarian savoury options, it is quite pricey, and we waited an hour for a table for 4 after being told the wait was 20-30 minutes. Would only recommend coming if it's when it's less busy & you have some extra money to spare. :)

Stopped by for brunch on Saturday. The Cafe is located just above Hawker Lane on Level 3 in Westfield Chatswood and it doesn't strike you as your typical indoor cafe. This guys have some connections with The Grounds of Alexandria so you can see a little bit of influence. They serve the grounds coffee toO! The cafe design itself makes you feel you're inside a beautiful garden atrium! With flower pots hanging from the ceiling and glass panel windows! So pretty and relaxing. Both Chris, Adam and little Chris together with their very helpful staff brought out some of their top dishes to sample! Top favourites for the drinks was the Lychee and mint and salted caramel. For mains it was the french toast, fruit salad, prosciutto & asparagus soldiers and smoked chicken breast salad! This place is definitely on the "to visit" list so get to it!

There was a 15 minute wait for a table for 3 around 10am Sunday morning which wasn't too bad. We were squished on a 2 person table though. They offered us salted caramel date milkshake samples while we waited which was nice. I ordered the breakfast plate which was tasty. The two tortilla chips were crispy and made of Lebanese bread. It was nice when mixed with the guacamole mix. The pumpkin were perfectly cooked. The poached eggs were running and well cooked as well. I mixed a bit of everything together which tasted really good. The bacon was very crispy. The sourdough was really good but gets soggy in the middle so eat quickly. The guacamole was a fantastic blend of cucumber, coriander, pomegranate seeds, quinoa and avocado. Service was pretty good too. I would dine here again.

The little engine that could!…read more And this place is little. Constructed on the far left hand corner at the bottom of the escalators at Chatswood Interchange, it's difficult to miss as you can see the steam rising from Barista magic at work. It's busy, in a worker bee sense. People come and go clutching coffee, whilst 3 artisans work their craft. I rolled in here with my two elderly companions on Wednesday post lunch, and we were drawn to the little padded seats at the back, which also opens through to the other side. Ordering, then taking a seat, our talking point became the shelves in front of us with coffee and train paraphernalia. I grabbed the HONY book on display and attempted to explain the concept to the ex-journalist at my right. The book (from 2010) unfortunately contains only the images and captions, not the stories that we have all seen on Facebook, but I think she got what I meant. Soon after, the coffees arrived. Soy Latte. Flat White. Cappuccino. Our cappuccino drinker said the flavour was lovely but she wanted it "hotter". The flat white drinker remarked in earnest tones that it was wonderful. I just drank mine and smiled. Yes it was damn good. One of the best Soy Latte's I've had. No bitterness. A smooth, flavourful brew with some complexity to delight my tastebuds. Isn't "winning your loyalty" an interesting concept. When I stroll through Chatswood next I would find myself hard pressed to try another coffee place, and there are many... If I did try another coffee place, I'd feel like I was cheating on TSE. That's what winning your loyalty is all about.

Thank you Chatswood for finally bringing it in the cafe department…read more I came here after a friend posted a picture of the food on Instagram (making this the most hipster cafe find I have ever made) - I had never heard of this place and thanks to the old yelp bookmark I had it parked for my next cafe emergency when I was in the area. I think that this place does all the things necessary to be a good cafe- funky interior, great tasting and interesting food, and not just good coffee- but a rotating bean menu. I had the fresh fig and ricotta on toast which was simply delightful. The combo of figs, ricotta, honey, walnuts and mint was a definite winner. And all the rest of the food I saw looked just as tasty. Brilliant coffee too- I just had the house bean (can't remember what it was) but it was great. Well done elbow room- you just found a special place in my heart

To add the cherry on the coffee heaven, the food here is fantastic. Now the menus is limited but both my friend and I were ecstatic about our meals. I got the French toast and it was divine. A small error was made in my order (which was my fault) and they lady could not be more helpful. I will definitely come here again.
