** Our Experience with Weston Warriors Football - Please Read Before You Sign Up **…read more Last year, our child was part of the 6U Weston Warriors team -- and unfortunately, it was a major disappointment from start to finish. **Disorganized Season:** Games were either not scheduled properly or didn't count for anything. The few games that were played were against advanced, high-level programs -- leading to painful, demoralizing losses for our young kids. Many of them ended up in tears and didn't even want to continue playing. **Lack of Support:** Our team was constantly short on players. We asked the president, John, for support -- including something as simple as an extra water break for kids playing both offense and defense all 4 quarters. That support never came. As a result, several kids quit mid-game, leaving the rest even more overwhelmed. **Poor Retention:** This year, only a *handful* of players returned for 7U. We gave it another chance -- only to find out there weren't even enough players, and our 7-year-olds were bumped to 8U. **Now Another Shift:** Suddenly, they want to *combine* 6U and 7U into a "7U team" -- with only TWO games confirmed for the entire season. When we asked for a partial refund (since the season hasn't even started), John and Sophie (a board member) told us it wasn't possible because the money had already been used. They claimed we didn't have a "legitimate case." We have now been waiting THREE weeks for the board to review the case, but they can't because a board member has supposedly been "out of the country." **Our Takeaway:** From the start, this program has been disorganized and disappointing. Lots of broken promises, very little transparency, and poor leadership. We're sharing this not out of spite -- but to help other families make an informed decision. **Parents -- think twice before signing up for Weston Warriors Football. Look at your other options. The best quality of a leader is when you want to impress them, not because they told you, but because you respect them. My son works really hard when he goes because he respects Manzy and his team. They teach at Bamford park, which is beautiful and lots of space to go walk or bike or anything while your kid is training. I also see parent bring a folding chair and go watch practice. It's great to get good, quality training for my son and not sell a kidney to do so. Lol! Yes, the first visit, Assessment, is free. You'll get to meet him and do some training. They do more than pitching. You can choose a specific lesson of pitching or batting, but we chose fundamentals, and Manzy switches it up as he sees fit. Bring your own bag and glove.
