I was recently visiting Buenos Aires with my sister. We stopped in at FLorida Cafe Restobar at Tucuman 593 for lunch as it was only a few buildings down from our hotel. Before going in I asked if they took Visa and the waiter seemed to understand and nodded yes. Altho not very busy it took some time to get our food. My sister ordered a burger which she barely ate as she said it was full of gristle. It came with an egg on top that she said was rubbery and tasted as if it had been cooked the day before. I ordered a half chicken Florentine. It came with about 5 bits of spinach, but was otherwise dry and tasteless. She had also ordered a beer from the tap he'd recommended, but she said was watery and warm. When the time came to pay the bill I presented my Visa and he said no and indicated cash only. The total was 18,000 Argentinian Pesos, but he'd also written 25 on the top of the bill, indicating that would be U.S. currency. At the time the exchange rate was about 1,000 Pesos to the dollar. I even pulled out my phone and googled it and got the result of $20.46 and showed it to him. He said no $25. Since we didn't have local currency we paid it to avoid a scene, but would advise all others to avoid this place to avoid getting ripped off. I did give them 1 star as their potatoes were good, but that was it. read more
