After numerous years of trips for business to Italy and Milan I finally found a place that can…read moreserve a decent cup of coffee and who actually cares about what goes into it. The people at Taglio offer a wide variety of specialty coffee from different origins and where one can select the method (V60, Aeropress etc). Execution is good but their own roast is good (don't get me wrong it totally beats anything else from Italy) but they also have coffee from other roasters. All together the coffee itself is a reason to visit but Taglio is so much more as they also serve excellent food. The pasta I had was a nice example of well-made uncomplicated food. They are also a deli so sell a lot of charcuteries and cheeses as well as other food items (tea, coffee, beverages, granola etc) The service was nice, friendly, mostly English speaking and fairly fast and they also have free wifi (however with mandatory facebook login) so a place I will visit again. Only minor drawback would be the price level - dinner easily came to €50 per head and while not super-expensive it is still a bit on the high side for more of a neighborhood place.

The option to order brunch after noon was a wonderful surprise and most welcome to California tourists such as ourselves. We ordered the tagliere (salumi platter) and eggs Benedict. Delicious. We dined in the back room overlooking the industrious kitchen. Both male and female chefs! I highly recommend this charming, spacious restaurant/deli in the Navigli district.

There's more to Japanese cuisine than just sushi, and Macha Japanese Café in the heart of Milan,…read moreproves that. Serving drinks and traditional café fair, Macha mixes the love of matcha tea with a creative attention to detail that delivers tasty, balanced flavors reminiscent of traditional Japanese influences. The atmosphere is so calm, soothing and refreshing, with a palette of soft accent colors throughout the interior. It's incredibly inviting, which is only emphasized by the service. Everyone there knows a great deal about what they are serving, and are more than happy to accommodate you in anything that you need. I stopped in for a little bite, having seen many posts of the place on Instagram. I opted firstly for the Avocado burger, a rich and creamy take on the traditional burger we're all used to. I then ordered the MACHA pancakes, which were stacked with smoked salmon, cream cheese and perfectly fried egg. Upon my second visit the sweet spot was where I further delighted my taste buds, as I enjoyed a piece of MACHA cheesecake, dotted with a ripe raspberry garnish, and was light and airy, yet rich in flavor. The MACHA cake and MACHA Muffin were baked to perfection, loaded with delicate flavor and definitely something worth coming back for. The MACHA gelato was a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth consistency, that was a refreshing end to a delicious meal. I also enjoyed a MACHA soy latte, which is one of the best I've ever had. I'm really happy that MACHA has been established, as it fills a culinary void I never even knew I was missing. However, now that I do, I'm hooked, and MACHA is the place to go for an out of the box take of Japanese café dining. Delicious!

We were in the area to check out the nearby museum and decided to come for a light breakfast. It is…read morevery chaotic if you come on a weekday morning because there are several offices in the area, with the staff getting their morning espressos and drinks before work. If you are a regular and have it figured out, it seems to work. However, with a language barrier and being the first time here, we needed some time before we could figure out the system. There was no clear menu at the cashier, no staff to ask or a flow to follow. Everyone just seems to mill around and try to catch the attention of the servers behind the bar. If it takes a minute for you to order at the cashier, you get the distinct feeling that you are in the way and holding up the world behind you. Once we finally ordered blindly, the got our items it was a lot more relaxed. There are plenty of small and large tables, providing more than enough seats since everyone was drinking at the counter and leaving. Be forewarned that tea is ALOT more expensive than any coffee based drink. Like multiple times more expensive. Food was okay, it was enough to start the day but nothing spectacular. For the price of the items, I would much rather go somewhere less chaotic.

People have told me many things about God Save The Food…read more They were all mixed reviews. Some liked it, some said it was overrated. Well I just had to try it for myself. Love the entrance because it's automatic. WHOO HOO! The interior is super cute, reminds me of a cafe in New York City. LOVEEEE! It was a little bright thought but then again, I was half awake and in need of coffee. I was a little disappointed in the size of the americano. I thought I would get a HUGE cup of Joe like I would at Tizzy's. I had to order two but that still was not enough, but it was only 1 euro. I tried pancakes because I wanted breakfast even though it was lunch time. I didn't even bother looking at anything else on the menu. It came with two thin pancakes and fruit. I loved the fruit but I wished the pancakes were thicker and fluffier. There was no sitting fee. YAY! My pancakes was 10 euros and each cup of americano was 1 euro. So it was a well spent 12 euros. Service is excellent, the place is clean and very modern. I will come again to try the other food and do a review update till then you should totally give this place a try!
