Trying a float had been on my bucket list for quite some time, but after reading Ana N's review, I was hesitant. Since I happen to live near Float Sano however, I decided to go over for a tour before booking an appointment.
I was impressed by the friendliness and thoroughness of the gentleman who took me around, and by the cleanliness of the entire place. The water in the pod looked fresh and clear, there were no unpleasant smells and there was no evidence of mold. I ended up scheduling a half hour float for that afternoon.
Being a lap swimmer, I'm quite comfortable in the water. But knowing that it contained epsom salts that could sting my eyes made me a bit anxious and it took me a while to relax. Soft flute music played for the first 10 minutes of my float, and the next 15 minutes, as I had been told, was in silence. The music began again during the last 5 minutes, as a signal that my session was almost up. I think it was during the silence that I really allowed myself to relax, and I was surprised how quickly the time went after that.
My float was followed by a marvelous 60 minute massage by Silvia, which was definitely the frosting on the cake. She was very attuned to my needs.
I do want to mention a somewhat negative part of my experience, but only as a "heads up" to other potential floaters. When it was time to get out of the pod, I had some difficulty lifting the lid. This, coupled with the slipperiness of the water due to the epsom salts, panicked me just a bit. But I pulled myself together, and managed to successfully get it up and to exit the pod. Perhaps I didn't listen to the instructions that were given beforehand well enough and if I were to go back, it might be easier. But it was disconcerting enough for me to mention this slight "glitch" in my otherwise pleasant experience. read more
