There is nothing wrong with this facility. the problem is this is not a "family friendly" facility…read morespecifically to single mothers. me and my single mother came to this ymca to work out. Typically when we go to this ymca both of my brothers recive racketball rackets and go to the room downstairs and play racket ball but today they told us that my 11 year old brother was allowed to go but my 9 year old brother was not for safety reasons. we completley understood and complied. we proceeded to go and we started to lift when we were approached by a staff member and told that my little brother was not welcome in that room. my mother proceeded to ask if he could simply sit next to us and he would not touch anything. the staff member left us alone and thats when one of the managers said that he was again not welcome in that room for safety reasons. we again complied and i went to bring my little brother to the racket ball room. i went to ask for a racket for him to use and was told i couldnt have one because i didnt have a driver's license. im 14 by the way. there was no other option for my little brother, the manager brought a chair and my little brother was told to sit in the hallway as he was crying. it was after that when we cancelled our membership because paying 100 dollars a month for that type of treatment is ridiculous.

(I only started here this month.) I love that there is no contract; just a 30 day notice to cancel membership. As a former manager for a large chain gym, I find that the Y is a good deal for such a small town. I expected to see a weight room and group fitness room. I was pleasantly surprised to find out there's a rock climbing wall AND more classes at a smaller site just across the street. There's also a full basketball court. I do not go during peak hours, so the place is fine despite the small space.

First let me say there is not much as to accommodations in Los Alamos. The population is under 14k…read moreand not many take pets. We did a little getaway from ABQ and this hotel was pet friendly, had a good location and was relatively well priced. The staff is super friendly which is great because after going to smith's market I wasn't so sure about the "locals". I did have a glitch that I believe was related to the choice website. The days were wrong and there were 2 reservations. The front desk staff handled it with compassion and class. My husband is disabled and stairs and walking are a problem. I was flustered when I checked in as I have to do all the "heavy lifting" with us. Pet friendly and added bonus is across the street from a gorgeous park (your tax dollars at work, thank you Los Alamos labs). Also past that is the Oppenheimer museum and gorgeous historic buildings. Los Alamos has under 14k residents so it's a really unique city, especially for New Mexico which is a poor state. Los Alamos household per capita income is 3 times anywhere else in NM (including Santa Fe). As my late mother would say (who retired from the Marriott corporation) "it's not the Marriott" but location is good and very close to a LOT. Thank you to the staff.

I mean, you get what you pay for, so PAY MORE if you are looking for a particularly impressive experience. The room was clean, spacious, everything worked. The lobby is huge and they have a workout room near the entrance. The parking is plentiful and it's pretty close to everything. Rooms have a microwave and mini fridge as well since you'll probably grab some takeout pizza to relax after skiing at Pajarito like we did. Sure, we'd stay here again. No complaints.
