In the days leading up to my wedding I found myself in need of practicing my smile (I'm always kind…read moreof rusty) so we set out to a nearby park for a morning stroll and to take some photos. We talked, laughed, played on a jungle gym, and I looked eye to uh, eyes with a spider. I barely noticed a camera in the process. What came out of that day was pure magic- I usually grimace and look stiff in pictures but she got me just being me. She even caught genuine smiles, which pleased my mom so much she asked me to forward an email to the artiste, telling her what a fantastic job she did capturing something she only sees in real life, and rarely in photos. For the first time in decades I actually sat and admired myself in a picture, she effortlessly coaxed out the real me, in photograph. I think that speaks volumes about her tremendous talent. I honestly cherish these photos, as well as our lovely morning in the park.

She POOPS on your demands. I wish I were making this up, especially the pooping part. But with much patience and grace, Vanessa worked with our baby even as my child CONSCIOUSLY tried to mess things up. (Am I being too hard on my daughter? Am I projecting? Maybe a little. C'mon, I'm an Asian dad. I do what I was taught. Still, this child will NEVER get into med school acting this way.) My questions were many: "What are the gloves for?" "Babies don't like cold hands. I have to wear these so that I don't wake her up." "Do you need extra lights?" "I prefer to use natural light when possible." "How long does this usually take?" "Kind of depends on the baby, really." "Do you provide props?" "Some, but I prefer to use what's around your house since that shows off your personality more." "Does that mean we can use my Darth Vader helmet in the pictures?" "I WANT us to use your Darth Vader helmet in the pictures." Which brings us back to the pooping and my daughter's decision to christen my hands with a well-timed Number 2. Was it captured on film? With much speed, laughter, and the accuracy of a National Geographic photo-journalist, you bet your, um, ass it was. Five stars.

Laura Stone is truly a master at her craft and I am so grateful for the amazing photographs she…read moretook at our wedding! Her photography is nothing short of breathtaking. With her artistic eye and natural ability, Laura captured the most poignant and precious moments of our wedding, preserving those memories forever. We first learned about Artstar Photography when reading reviews online, and I was impressed with Laura's perfect-score reviews. More importantly, I absolutely loved her style of photography, mixing artful candid shots with more traditional photographs, and her unique talent for capturing the emotion of her brides, grooms and parents, and the relationships between them. I spent several weeks searching for the right photographer, and found no one with photography more beautiful than Laura's. We were thrilled to find that she was available for our wedding! Knowing that we would spend a fair amount of time with the photographer on our wedding day, it was also important to me to find someone who would make the experience enjoyable to all those involved. Laura is kind, approachable, professional and a true joy to be around. She took the time to get to know me over the phone (as I live out of state). She was very receptive to my phone calls and emails, and extremely helpful in offering her suggestions to my questions about the photography, as well as other details about the wedding. On the big day, Laura and her assistant arrived early to catch the first moments of us getting ready. Patient and gracious, Laura took our last-minute rushing around in stride and managed to capture beautiful moments of that time. She took incredible candid shots during the ceremony, and afterward, quickly took the family portrait shots our parents were hoping to have. Laura effortlessly worked with all members of the wedding party, from the teary toddler flower girl, to the goofing-off groomsmen, to the parents of the bride and groom, taking amazing photographs of every step of the day. Although Laura took nearly a thousand photos that day (literally!), I was pleasantly surprised to find that very little of our time was spent posing for pictures. As a result, we were able to enjoy our guests and the reception. At sunset, Laura snuck away with me and the groom to take some shots against the sinking sun. This was a wonderful time for me and the groom to take a special moment to ourselves, and the pictures were among the most beautiful of the day. Laura stayed until the last song was played and we left the reception through a tunnel of guests and sparklers. She and her assistant worked tirelessly to capture every moment, while blending into the background and allowing us to fully enjoy each special moment of the day. The pictures she took were absolutely beautiful; her work was truly above my highest expectations. After the wedding, Laura stayed in close contact with me to make sure we were happy with all of the shots and the incredible slideshow she created for us. We've gotten so many compliments on the wedding photos, and many have commented that Laura's artful pictures moved them to tears. Laura truly a master at her craft; her work is beyond compare. If you are looking for a photographer who will capture the essence, emotion and beauty of your day, Laura is simply the best you could hope to find. I could not be happier with Laura's work and strongly recommend her and her team.

From our first contact, Cayce put me at ease about the whole process and was extremely informative and professional. She laid out how the process works and even provided tips on how to prepare for the photo shoot. Her studio was beautiful and somehow made me feel very comfortable because it was personal and set a nice stage for the photos I was having made. Like every woman, I have body image issues but Cayce put me at ease very quickly. She is easy to talk to and made having a conversation quite easy despite the fact that I was naked 90% of the time we were shooting. Not only did she make me feel comfortable, but she made me feel beautiful in my own skin and it truly shows in my photos. I received my proofs a few days after the shoot - anyone who has ever had professional photos done knows that this is practically unheard of! To top that, I received my selected prints in less than two weeks. AMAZING! The quality of the pictures and the beautiful packaging just made it even more special. I definitely recommend Cayce for any of your photo needs. I wish I had known about her last year when I got married! Now I can't wait for another life event so I can hire her again!

Cayce was fantastically easy to work with and we love what she's done to help us preserve our wedding. In short, here's what we love about Cayce and her team: 1. Our engagement and wedding photos came out beautifully. We are very picky people who are impressed with her photography! 2. She's kind, friendly, and really fun to be around. You and your guests of honor spend a ton of time with a photographer at your wedding. Cayce was unobtrusive and thorough, and got great shots out of camera-shy folks. 2. Her prices are very reasonable, and they're available on her website. Cayce has the best prices around for the quality of her work. She also gave us a CD of the images from our engagement shoot and will do the same for our wedding. 3. She turned around our engagement and wedding photos in under 3 weeks! (I don't know how much time she takes during busy season, but I was impressed.) 4. She's transparent about her work process, updates all involved parties (including mothers of brides) when photos are ready, shot lists need to be compiled, etc. She takes payment online and runs her business very professionally. This all makes her easier to work with. 5. Did we mention her photographs are fabulous? Visit her website and blog to see what we mean. Seriously. You won't find anyone else in the area who takes great photos for her prices. In short, Cayce is fantastic. We wish her much success and hope this helps any of you out there who are braving the mad world of wedding vendor hiring.
