While I am upset about what happened to me, I just want to let others know so they're aware of the risks of seeing these "doctors." I was going to Charlottesville Dermatology for about five months to take the medication Isotretinoin (formerly known as Accutane). The PA (not a dermatologist) that prescribed it to me had a pretty meh personality (Amy Randolph? Rudolph?) and did not answer the questions I had in any sociable way, but I did not really care because I just wanted to get through the medication. I started seeing someone named Ines, and she was better. I always thought their billing/reception staff was pretty rude/incompetent, but again, I viewed this as a temporary relationship, so I didn't change providers. At this point, I probably would have given them 3 stars. For those of you that don't know, Accutane is highly regulated, so female patients must take a pregnancy test monthly per federal law. The doctor's office must then fill the prescription within seven days of that test, or another test is required. That's right, they forgot to fill my prescription, so I had to go back for another pregnancy test and was unable to take my medication for a week. No one apologized. Then I found out through a friend that my medication is unequivocally supposed to be taken with a fat-heavy meal, such as salmon or nuts, to ensure absorption. I immediately verified this online, and according to the Mayo Clinic, it's true. I took an extremely intense and life-altering medication (you have to use two forms of birth control on it and cannot drink more than one drink) only to find out that for five months it likely wasn't properly being absorbed. This could explain why my acne only started to clear up after I started going to UVA's Dermatology group. The kicker is that you can only take so much Accutane in your system, so I now have to go off it. I have no way of knowing how much medication was being absorbed, and I never will. This is medical malpractice, and while I will not pursue legal action, I can only hope that no one else has to.

I recently went in with an unusual problem. He was a bit perplexed, since it isn't a common issue that he sees. Instead of just hurrying me away, he actually took some pictures of the area and went to his office to consult with some other specialists. He came back to the room with a solution. He went above and beyond!! His care and concern is easy to see. The staff is very easy to deal with. I especially like the feel of the Orange location. It is easy to access and the staff is very welcoming. He is one of those doctors that you hope never retire!!

Dr. Scott makes sure any skin issues are addressed as we age and, besides, he is a lot of fun! And this office is close to our home so we don't have a long drive.. We are always so beautifully served by Dr. Scott's staff. Tamara greets us sweetly as we step in the door, and she takes care of payments and scheduling. Our nurse this time was Briana, who was efficient and very pleasant. Annie Mae holds down the office with a cheerful smile! All in all, we are so glad to have been patients of Dr. Scott since 2008 and happy we will always be fortunate enough to continue to be in his care. Annie and Mack Rowe, Madison, Va.

Another appointment was scheduled to remove this problem. I decided to alert the office staff that I would like to be considered for an open appointment from a cancellation they might receive. I was contacted just a few days after I notified the office of my desire & was able to have an 11 am appointment. Dr Teran & his tech Kiran are bother professional and kind. It took moments to prepare, to numb the spot & then for the cancer to be removed and a few stitches set. I felt no discomfort whatsoever! I am thrilled that the skin cancer this office detected has been removed. My aftercare is very straightforward as I have dissolvable stitches. I enjoyed my brief visit with Dr. Teran and would highly recommend his services. The entire staff at Family Dermatology of Albemarle is friendly and helpful. My thanks to the entire team!

Just left me sitting there waiting and when I asked how much longer they said ," you are the next one" so I waited. Then the Dr said to me that that is what is to be expected with late afternoon appts. That they will be late. So if they know this why don't they give more appt time to morning appts. So basically she said it was my fault for having a job and only being able to get there in the afternoon and I should always expect my appts to be at least 30 minutes late. What a slap in the face. No apology for being late or anything. I will not be going back and if you go just expect for them to not be respectful of you or your time.

First of all, Dr. Christopher Scott shocked me by being familiar with a natural treatment I had been using. He said he had something that worked better but needed to be compounded. It will treat angiomas and keratosis. I ordered it for $37.50 and we will see. (Oh, btw, he uses it on himself.) He is personable and he listens, also. I finally found a dermatology home!

I was very nervous going in, knowing it was very likely I would need to have a spot on my face removed, which I did. My appointment was one of the last ones available that day (so I would only need to leave my office around 30min early) and they were still able to fit the procedure in that day. Dr. Zeller was very kind and talked me through everything. The actual procedure was relatively painless and I left with instructions on caring for the wound and offered a free wound check appointment if needed. My wound healed very well so this wasn't needed. I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone in searching for a dermatologist.

The office staff is usually curt and completely unhelpful. My neighbor, saw one of the physicians who isn't even listed by the practice, and was told "it's nothing, just related to our age" when she went to have a spot on her face evaluated. The spot keep getting bigger and more irritating so she went to a practice in Staunton.
