I have lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for over 30 years. From a very early age my father took me around town and showed me the difference between traditional barber shops, salons, and franchised shops. He always insisted that I cut my hair at a traditional barber shop that finishes the cut with a straight razor. I came upon Flawless Barber shop about 3 years ago on my way to work at the local University. It is relatively close to the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, a few miles away, and really close to the main strip of Ocean Drive and Airline. I would say that the location is prime and absolutely convenient for anyone close to the bay or who live and/or work in the south east part of the city. The shop is housed inside a relatively new strip mall, just behind a CVS and caddy corner to an Exxon and a McDonalds. My initial impression was that the parking situation at this location was suitable with plenty of parking available, with exception to the fact that navigating ones way out to the street is like playing pinball whereby it is difficult not to hit curbs if one is driving a full size sedan or larger. Nevertheless the neighborhood is a good one and the area is clean, and the shop has a traditional barber sign that swirls, the universal indicator that hair cuts could be had within the premises. My go to haircut is usually just a trim on top, a fade on the sides to a 2, over the ears, no sideburns, and natural on the back. Nothing too extreme, but the skill in my opinion comes with how well the barber can fade my hair in the back and on the sides. I showed up pretty early. It must have been around 11 AM on a Tuesday, these are my days that I am free to run errands. From the moment that I stepped in I knew I was in for a treat. This place is a mans barber shop indeed. I couldn't help but think that I had walked in what could have been Tim the Tool Man Taylors personal barber shop, expecting at any moment that Tim Allen would jump out grunting aloud "welcome". The barber shop had at least 7 black leather barber chairs and one hot pink one, obviously for a female barber/beautician of some sort. Their tools of the trade were stored in large, gun metal grey, Craftsman Toolboxes....one for each barber! Together with leather couches in the waiting area, televisions playing music videos, and man chat about latest football upset, this place was like no barber shop I have been to in the Corpus Christi area. I was approached by a rather burly man who was sporting a rather large beard that was eerily reminiscent of the manscapings of James Harden of the Houston Rockets. If you don't who this reference is, it may be worth your time to look him up and gawk. As it turns out this gentlemen was the owner of the place (Ricky), and lucky me, I was sitting in his chair. With the no less than the finesse of a bull fighter whipping his red muleta around, I was shrouded by a black barbers cape. The cut took about 15-20 min. I was finished off with the traditional hot shaving cream and a straight razor. I was then taken to the back where my hair was rinsed and shampooed with a slight head massage. At this point some gel astringent was placed all over my face as I was still laying down at the sink and a nice hot towel was placed on my face. What an experience indeed. The particular treatment cost $25.00 although I am sure minus the shampoo and man facial it could have been cheaper but I was in it for the whole enchilada. Overall the cut was great. I did not have to tell the barber to go back and refade the sides or the back. I did not develop any razor burn from the edging and it all looked cleaned and polished. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for the same treatment. While I cannot speak for the other barbers, I do frequently and only see Ricky when he is available. If you want to be cut by the owner as I was do not come in unannounced though! If you do you will have to wait. The owners barber services are in high demand, and I recommend making an appointment to see just him. If not, then there are plenty of barbers in the shop that can take care of you and based on what I have seen their skill is just as good too! I would like to give this place five stars based on the quality of the cut, the cleanliness of the shop, and the politeness of the barbers. I was made to feel at home and I left looking good. read more

I've been going to Rick and his staff over at Flawless Barber Shop now for about 4-5 years now, and I have to say that its the best barber shop Ive ever been to. There are just not enough words to describe how this shop is the best barber shop in South Texas. Each hair cut is never rushed, this shop also does some of the best designs, They will even fix your messed up cut you got from one of those other barber shops, and each client is not treated like just some "John Doe" off the street. When you walk in you are immediately greeted and involved in conversations that are going on in the shop. Can't make it to Alameda for a Flawless hair cut, don't worry there is one near you. With two more locations, one off of Leopard and Oak Park (Too Flawless) and a new one opening off of Yorktown and Cimarron (Still Flawless), you have no reason not to look Flawless. read more

Every time I saw someone w a great haircut I'd ask them,"where'd u get that haircut? Looks really good". & every time I'd get the same response. Flawless. Eventually I got curious enough to try it myself. I've been going to Mary Carrion for a little under a yr now. & from day one, the haircuts & service I've gotten has been truly exceptional. the owner of this barber shop is harrassing and intimidating an85 year old lady that owns the property next to him aNd he is encouraging his customers to do the same. the police have been called on numerous occasions. this is the only barber shop i have ever heard of that sees customers late at night with the lights off. this place has even been on channel 10 with andy liscano. when mr liscano tried to interview this man he lied and said he was nit the owner. his attitude is that of a 14 year old thug read more

Originally from Austin, I have been to various barber shops in Corpus Christi before finally finding flawless, which ironically was right down the street. The shop is a classic with TV's, complimentary beverages, and barbers with personality... which brings off a good vibe. Each barber in the shop can cut some serious hair no matter what type of hair style. Made an appointment with one of the barbers because I heard there can be a bit of a wait sometimes. I went in was greated with a beverage and the barbers were all well mannered and it brought me back to the old school barber shop days.
