On June 10 2025 I booked in 2 Canon camera bodies and a lens. On June 25 I approved an estimate but heard nothing for a month so I contacted them on 22 July and they said they'd just received parts on the 18th. I then heard nothing for a few more weeks so I emailed on the 6 August but got no reply and again on the 12 August. On the 13th I phoned and was told one body and lens were ready for pickup. They said I'd already picked up the other body which is not true. The staff here are knowledgable, approachable and can answer pretty much any question you have about your kit. The sell new kit, second hand kit and rent it out too, so you can try before you buy. It's a professional place so don't pop in looking for a new point and shoot, but if you need proper kit, this is a proper place. read more

I am a girl. I also own an SLR camera. The two, according to the laws of the world don't go together. Which means that every single camera shop I've set foot in treats me like an idiot. Like they're expecting a boy to join me five seconds later. Like they can rip me off. I hate it. I buy my camera stuff online for this reason (it's also cheaper, because I don't get ripped off for being a girl). But Fixation are different. Fixation are friendly. Girls work here! They talk to you like you're human! They talk to you like you understand all the buttons on your camera (I don't, entirely, but that's not the point). The sensor on my camera needed cleaning (to stop the ugly black splodges on my photos) and Fiaxtion do this while you wait, for £33. While you're waiting you have two choices - 1) sit in the nice air conditioned shop, drinking tea and reading a book or 2) pop to Vauxhall City Farm which is just down the road. Both fine choices. Forty five minutes later (they had a rush on as it was the end of the week), my camera was all fixed up, I'd finished the chapter of my book and I left thrilled that I could be all snap happy again. The hire, they repair, they offer advice, and they're five minutes from Vauxhall station. A much better option than any of the camera shops I've been to on Tottenham Court Road. GO. If you're in London and take photography remotely seriously, there will be a time when you need a sensor clean, or a lens hire, a new bag or a dreaded repair, and fixation is the place to go. I thought the staff were a bit unfriendly at first, but actually they're just busy! And when you need their help, they have all the answers on what kit you might need. They also remember your face and call you by name which is a nice touch. Repairs are fairly priced and can mostly be done on-site and there's a great selection of used gear to drool over while you wait. read more

I am now having to send my camera back for the 3rd time, which has meant i would have been cameraless for nearly 3 weeks to date! Originally went in for a simple lens and mirror box clean. I asked if they could also clean the view finder lens at it had a couple of bits on it. They sent it back without cleaning the view finder, so i had to send it back to them again. Upon receiving it back the second time and paying for the service, the view finder had 3 times as much crap on it than before i originally sent it off. So i am now having to send it back for the 3rd time. I am hoping this will now be resolved but the thing im annoyed about is that i was told everything was sorted, that there was nothing visible on the view finder when a lens was fitted but clearly there is a shed load more now. This screams, there is clearly NO quality control or checking of work prior to sending it back out to customers. My camera is a 2016 FX Nikon Body, so we are not talking a cheap bit of kit. The actual location of the store is quite hard to find and easy to pass up, it's tucked away next to a gas station. I brought my camera in because it wasn't turning on despite having (what I thought) were fully charged batteries. I initially spoke to a white service technician who was fairly rude when I was asking him questions about cost and service time. I waited over a week to pick up my camera despite having photography assignments, but it turned out nothing was wrong with it. They simply charged my batteries and the camera turned on. I suppose because I am from the US, maybe the difference in cables to charge the batteries caused my batteries not to charge properly? Anyways, when I went to go pick up my camera, I spoke with a friendly asian service tech. I told him about my issue with the batteries not charging. After guiding me through some simple steps, he told me I could take one of their UK cable chargers for free. My batteries now charge. The reason I am rating this place five stars is simply from the actions of the asian service technician. They were initially rude and the actual repair took longer than they told me it would take. I'll come back again for sure. read more

Had an absolutely ridiculous experience with this poor excuse of a repair shop. I have a Sony A6300 that developed an issue with the internal sd card reader that decided it would no longer read several of my usual cards. I tried to have a poke around with some tweezers in there to no avail. I then managed to damage the top plate of the camera while trying to dismantle to examine the brass pins inside the reader. I then got an estimate of £275 ex vat over the phone for top plate replacement & a new reader + labour so i took it in to their store. 2 days later i get an estimate for £475 ex vat! They went on to say it needed a new main board & hot shoe was damaged hence the high price. I went back to store to pick up the camera as it was not viable to have it fixed at that price. Once home i tested my flash & accessories & they worked perfectly fine. I then used a thin stainless air brush needle to try & see if i could get the pesky sd reader to work again. Something worked loose & now the camera is working perfectly. Basically this leads me to believe that they estimate whatever the hell they like!!! NEVER AGAIN!! read more

I managed to drop my EOS 1D Mk11 but luckily only broke the 24 - 70 L series lens (lucky!!). I took it to Fixation and the man behind the counter comiserated with me then took it to check for any scratches on the elements. All okay so I asked for a ball park estimate of possible costs. He consulted the Gnomes Upstairs as he put it and I was given a price range which I accepted. Three days later they e-mailed me a firm quotation which was very acceptable. Four days later the job was done and hey presto a repaired lens for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Use them they're good. read more

DO NOT USE. Worst service ever. I took a camera there to be repaired, was given a quote, which then took three times the amount of time to complete than the 4-5 working days I was told it would take. When I finally got a report back saying the camera had been fixed, they'd added on loads of extra charges, and had also forgotten to quote for a lens entirely, which was an extra £200. When I rang up to enquire why it hadn't been counted in the first place, the woman on the phone was extremely rude and basically said I must've not bought it in first time round, which I know was not the case. I got the camera back and left the lens to be fixed. This took another two weeks, and they didn't let me know it had been fixed until I emailed to find out what was going on! Altogether took over a month to get a basic service done on a camera- will never use again. read more

Came here to get a quote on fixing my Canon 5D mkii which had some trouble with the CF card assembly. However when I received my quote they said that I needed a new Shutter assembly, new Mirror assembly, sensor clean and full service. This came to an outrageous £387. Knowing that my shutter and mirror weren't the problem I then took my camera to a camera repair shop in Wembley (I don't want to name it for fear of being accused of being affiliated with them but google it and i'm sure you'll find it) which fixed my camera for the very reasonable price of £149. Fixation, despite their good reputation, do not inspect your camera properly for repairs but make assumptions and try to force the most amount of work on to you that they can get away with. Avoid this place, head to wembley, and save yourself £240 as I have. read more

Sent a Canon D40 body for a service and a 18-35 Lens for repair. I was kept up to date on all aspects of cost and repair, the job was done and the camera back in my possession within 7 days of me sending it off.!!! I've just had my Canon 7D repaired by Fixation. They are fantastic and I will definitely be a returning customer (though hopefully not for repairs). They are efficient and friendly. They completed my work and managed to get Canon authorization to complete it under the warranty despite being a few days out. Moreover, they had it done in less than 1 week. Ok, first of all i have to be honest and say that the service i received at Fixation was at best average. I found the staff far too officious for my liking, i was given a four day turnaround and waited 10 days and when i went to pick the lens up it was 'here's your lens sir, that'll be £700 please, and that was it. I just feel that a little more warmth would have gone a long way. And VAT on second hand goods, i just can't get my head around that one. VAT was paid when the item was purchased new so someone's getting two bites of the apple, i was interested in an expensive second hand lens, without any warranty, only to be told that i would have to pay £800 VAT which then took it way above it's secondhand value. I attempted to negotiate a more comfortable purchase price but they wouldn't budge an inch. No thank you sir, i bought one from a popular online auction site, secondhand no VAT and buyer protection if it's not as described for £250 less than their purchase price. So what is my point you may ask, well i think new customers are as important as existing ones, if not more so. Please treat them accordingly and a little flexibility on secondhand goods would speak volumes. read more
