They took excellent care of my dog, Hazel, who came in with a skin rash/irritation, and within just two days she is already looking so much better. They got her all up to par, provided great medicated shampoo, and made sure she left with everything she needed. I also received flea, heartworm, and tick medication, which gave me total peace of mind knowing she's protected and on the right track. Hazel was a little extra excited in the lobby because she couldn't wait to see the other dogs, but the staff was incredibly patient, understanding, and kind about it -- which meant a lot to me. You can truly tell they care deeply about the animals and their well-being. A special shout-out to the gentleman in the back -- he is phenomenal. Knowledgeable, kind, and clearly passionate about what he does. I am beyond grateful for the care Hazel received and would highly recommend Animal Alliance Galveston County to anyone looking for compassionate, trustworthy animal care. Thank you all so much!

December 20, 2023…read more Got here at 235p for a 3p appt... it's 338pm, and we're still waiting. got in at 345p. ALMOST every employee came to see 1 of my 2 cats; PurrC-Percy was the center of attention for 20 minutes!! he's a big boy...24lbs very soft and mellow kitty, so everyone was petting him, and there was lots of noise and movement in and out. but, meanwhile, in his carrier, was my nervous 10lb boy, Rufus. The longer this was taking, the more upset he got. he eventually started, growling and hissing. I held him, but those 20 minutes put him over the edge. by the time he got on exam...tech had to cover him in a towel. vet got 1 shot, and Rufus went Kujo-Kitty! he started screaming... got up and out of that towel soo fast, FLEW OFF the exam table and back into his carrier. he charged the opening of his carrier as it was being closed...hissing. it was very traumatic for him; he should have been first, but the tech had gotten Percy to the exam table first. so not only did I wait an hour to be seen...1 cat didn't complete his exam. im not going back to this clinic, it's just too busy.

I normally have a good experience with this location, but I normally see Dr. Clark…read more I received an email that they were offering $35 off special on wellness exams. I already had one of my dogs scheduled for wellness exam but decided to schedule my other dog due to the "special" I requested Dr Clark in the appointment. When I arrived they took us back almost immediately. When the Dr. came in, it was a different tech/dr than I normally see and wasn't Dr. Clark like I requested. They took the first dog in the back to give exam, something they have never done in the past. This immediately made me uncomfortable . They briefly opened the door and asked about shots. We asked for the rabies and we expected this. They returned with the first dog and took second dog back. We noted that she had an adverse reaction to rabies shot previously so declined (4lb dog). They came back and went over the results for both dogs. One dog was perfect and the other had a "heart murmur." When we went to pay they gave a tap to pay pad with an amount and no itemization. We asked if they had included the "special" discount and they had not, so they returned with a slightly lesser amount on the tap to pay device. We asked for an itemization and were told that would come after payment. We said that was backwards and not acceptable and then an itemization arrived. $74 for each exam and $75 for heart worm test on each dog. The heart worm test is worthless for us because we treat them no matter what and do not purchase the meds from the vet. We felt this should have been discussed beforehand, especially if it increases the bill by 100%. I'm disappointed that the visit went this way and it made me feel uncomfortable that I will decline to see any other doctor than Dr. Clark in the future. Normally they bring an itemization of what they plan to do before the treatment. The combination of presenting the bill without itemization, "forgetting" the "special" and what I feel was padding the bill with unnecessary and undisclosed treatment was too far for me.

All of my dogs have been exceptionally cared for by Dr. Evans and his assistants and they have fit them in to be seen many times on short to no notice. Dr. Evans is a Texas A&M vet of the highest standard with very expansive experience in the real world and conditions out here in more rural ag/ranching Texas. He most recently did surgery to remove a growth on my Blue Heeler's muzzle, who had a previous history of mast cell tumors being surgically removed with intermediate class II pathology results of malignancy on his torso, but he didn't order a litany of expensive overnighted tests for an eight year old dog, even though Blue Heelers tend to be longer lived dogs than most their size. He also removed a large skin tag from his leg at the same time since he was already going to have him under general anesthesia and didn't even charge for that. The cost was $300 in total. The prior surgery for my Blue Heeler with another Alvin vet clinic on Hwy 35 was over $3500, and they tried to charge me for some supplements off of their own pharma website that were over 300x the price of what they were available for on Amazon, but they told me they were the only place those supplements could be purchased. REALLY? They had to make that extra gouge in profit after I had just had to dip into my retirement savings to pay the lab and surgery bill? My dog didn't even need those supplements and wouldn't eat them anyway. One of the owner vets also verbally berated me on my dog's check-up visit. She blamed me for putting a sterile cotton gauze bandage on the surgical incision as being the cause for having to re-sutured part of the incision at the edge and she is had me shaking and in tears, and I'm not one who easily brought to tears. I have many years of owning dogs and horses and caring for wounds. She wasn't even there when the surgery was done and wasn't there when the post-op instructions were given, which instructed me to protect the suture. Never again will I ever cross that vet clinic's door. I trust Dr. Evans completely. And BTW, my Blue Heeler's surgery on his muzzle and his skin tag on his leg went off without a single hitch, it healed well within a week and it's been over 8 months since then and you can't even feel or see where the sutures were, let alone there being no sign of recurrence of the tumor. You cannot even tell it was ever there. I highly recommend Dr. Evans and his staff for being extremely competent and having the highest standards of honesty and ethics. Those are very valued traits always, but especially in these days of "private equity" vet clinic takeovers by investors who care nothing about our pets or our ability to pay exorbitant prices for the care needed by our beloved animal family members.

You specifically told me that I needed to change my flight in order to receive the certificate if I couldn't pick it up on 9/21, which is truly unfair especially because you were aware of my flight date. Just because you claim, "Once a certificate is submitted, the process is outside of our control and cannot be stopped or altered" does not mean you can take my (correction: $450) and blame it on me. If I were to check your database, it would 100% back up my case. Too bad you didn't email me confirmation of the date of available pickup...definitely to cover up your mistake. The worst part of this for me as a client is the fact that I made the first appointment on the earliest possible date of the given window for international certificates, and still you couldn't provide the proper service. That may be forgivable as long as you owned your mistake and gave me back my money but again, you handled everything incorrectly. You clearly put your clients last and money first. I am currently talking to my attorney as I am considering taking legal action for this mess. If anyone deals with this disreputable animal hospital, I encourage you to ask for documentation of everything so you can better prepare for situations such as this.

Let me count the utter disasters that occurred in my small amount of time at Parkwood…read more 1) My dog was seen by Dr. Polasek on April 29th, May 4th, May 8th, and June 1st. Dr. Polasek treated my dog for one issue "only." She ran the same diagnostic tests over and over. She neglected to truly give my dog a thorough physical examination. 2) My dog's health was getting worse and Dr. Polasek did nothing to address it. 3) Barbara in the office had the audacity to yell at me, in front of other clients, for not keeping my sick dog in a crate. A) Barbara should have minded her own business! B) I do not believe in crates "Doggie Jail" 4) My dog saw Dr. Vanderford on July 1st and he immediately noticed my dog had Jaundice. New and different diagnostic tests indicated; Liver Disease, Pancreatitis, Bilirubin, Gallbladder, Red Blood Cell Count (Extremely Low) & White Blood Cell Count (Extremely High). My dog was immediately given IV Fluids, Cerenia Shot, and four Appetite Stimulates. 《Even Dr. Vanderford questioned why Dr. Polasek ran the same diagnostic tests over and over!》 5) This states a lot about Dr. Polasek and her qualifications for not noticing my dog was that sick. 6) Dr. Vanderford was contemplating back and forth; "Should I send home a combo cocktail of medications (his words exactly) for the 4th of July weekend or a 24/7 emergency clinic?" 7) Dr. Vanderford suggested the 24/7 emergency clinic because he also works there and based on his schedule he could check-in on my dog. 8) Dr. Polasek was supposed to expedite the paperwork. Dr. Polasek dropped the ball on getting the paperwork to the emergency clinic. 9) I spoke with Silvia at the front desk who made every excuse in the world for Dr. Polasek. 10) Silvia had also dropped the ball three times regarding various issues. (Two times were basic appointments.) Per Silvia; "I'm multitasking." 11) Dr. Clark performed an ultrasound on my dog. Dr. Clark also dropped the ball because she did not send the ultrasound nor the report to the emergency clinic. (Per, Dr. Coffey at 24/7 emergency clinic) 12) My dog was admitted to the 24/7 emergency clinic on the evening of July 3rd and released on July 6th at 10pm by Dr. Vanderford. (A cost of $10k and to no avail) 13) Needless to say, Dr. Vanderford's decision for the 24/7 emergency clinic was an extremely gross error in judgment! 14) Within 12 hours my dog passed away at home in my arms and surrounded by the entire family. 15) On July 7th, my dog was brought to Parkwood to be cremated and in our family's moment of pure grief and sorrow, Dr. Clark was unprincipled in lecturing us about feeding my dog inappropriate foods, such as bacon. A) Dr. Clark had absolutely no right to be so disingenuous. B) My dog(s) only receive the very best of everything in life. 16) On July 16th, I picked up my dogs urn at Parkwood with the standard response of; "I'm so sorry for your loss and my condolences" which was beyond empty hearted. The response was scripted and completely apathetic. 17) On Tuesday, August 4th I received an amateurish text message (YES, TEXT MESSAGE) from Amy Swift, Office Practitioner. Client, After careful consideration, Parkwood Animal Hospital has decided to end our veterinary-client-patient relationship. Effective 8/4/2026, we will no longer provide veterinary services for you or your pets. Please establish care with another veterinary practice. Upon your written request by text, email, or from your new veterinarian, we will promptly provide your pets' medical records. This decision is final. We wish you and your pets all the best. Sincerely, Amy Swift 18) I spoke with Amy Swift, Office Practitioner, to inquire about this amateurish text message but Amy literally talked in circles, a pure prevarication to answering my direct questions. She could not give me one legitimate answer for this decision. That speaks volumes about her lack of character and scruples. 19) Let me be clear and concise: that I never blamed anyone for my dog being sick nor the fact my dog passed away. However, I absolutely do blame those who dropped the ball in my dogs time of need and did not live up to their Veterinarian's Oath. Between the way my dog and I were treated and the amateurish text message it truly shows lack of morality, principles, and standards within Parkwood and "I WANT NO PART OF IT!" Parkwood is not about customer service satisfaction nor the overall health and well-being of a beloved pet. Parkwood is all about money!!! This negative review is 100% based on the truth and pure facts that I and my sick dog endured in the "very small" amount of time at Parkwood. Any response is 100% superfluous as it means nothing to me. I know the stats-quo at Parkwood and it will be mendacity.
