Would give ZERO stars... Took a $500 deposit for a $1300+ job for a 75yr old woman (who's husband passed)... told her he'd do the job within 10days... after 3 full weeks, she had to track him down to try to find out why he never called and hadn't shown... he gave her a song and dance, promised to be out there... 2 more weeks... no word from him... she again had to track him down, cancel and demand her deposit... "ok, I'll bring it to you"... another week... they still have not returned the deposit... Within 24hrs, she will be filling a theft report with Manatee County Sheriff, along with an elder abuse financial scam complaint with the state... I will update this review as things progress... We scheduled our pavers back in July and knew we would have to wait for special colored pavers. Also had supply chain issues everywhere this past summer. We got a little impatient but it was well worth the wait. Our patio is beautiful and way beyond expectations. The installers were prompt professional and I would say artists. So I met with Tom who seemed very competent. We agreed a scope of work and timescale and I paid the deposit. Tom slipped the installation by 2 days due to weather conditions which is acceptable. In the meantime I had read the reviews on this website and seen the reports on on the trading standards site all very poor and suggest that Tom is not to be trusted. He installed a new paver path at our house with included a raised step,I watched the whole job from demolition of the old path to the application of the sealer on the finished job. The job was done to specification using the correct foundation and top mix materials to provide a solid base . Apart from the slight slip in schedule the job is of an excellent quality,Tom is very responsive and answered his phone every single time I called.He responded to all requests positively left the site clean and tidy. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is the slippage in timescale which to be fair was due to weather conditions. read more

I am incredibly happy with my front driveway and pool deck now that they look even better than they did brand new. Five star pavers re-leveled my paver pool deck which was in serious need of repair. They had incredible attention to detail and even leveled pavers I didn't think were that bad. They pressure washed and sealed every square inch and my pool deck looks beautiful. They also had to chemically strip the front driveway which was sealed improperly previously by a different company, which took them even more time but they were willing to do it right. We live on Longboat Key and have a very large driveway that has been overcome with roots from our oak trees. We hired five star pavers to make the necessary repairs. They removed all the pavers in the affected area, removed all the roots, replaced the base with crushed concrete, compacted and reinstalled the existing pavers with a new 5-inch concrete border. Once repairs were completed they pressure cleaned and applied two coats of sealer and I have to tell you our ten year old driveway looks brand-new, we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. In August of 2014 we paid them $750 as a down payment to install pavers. I called them (Tom Borchert) and emailed almost every day for several months and they came and tore up our driveway, only to never return to finish the job, now it looks AWFUL. I am afraid they are preying on the elderly to take advantage of them financially. Don't ever pay for work until it's complete and always look for reviews before having work done. I am totally happy with the job 5 Star Pavers did on my driveway. The city repaved my street and so the end of my driveway was a small pond every time it rained. There were several other areas where tree roots were growing under and in spots it looked more like a roller coaster than a driveway. Tom was professional and pleasant to work with. His estimate was fair. They raised the end of the driveway, removed the intruding tree roots, power washed and sealed the pavers, and did everything promptly and satisfactorily. If you are thinking of hiring Five Star Brick Pavers I strongly suggest you check them out with the Better Business Bureau, read my below review, and read what others have to say about them online. Pay attention to the bad reviews, I think you will see a pattern. Keep in mind at this site that Five Star Brick Pavers, Tom Borchert and Five Star Renovations are one in the same. If enough of you contact me we can go to the state, and county, licensing boards to have his contractor's license revoked. Tom called our office at approximately 2:30pm on the afternoon of May 5, 2014 asking us to perform some emergency repairs. The repairs were for an irrigation system they had damaged and he needed it done right away. We dispatched one of our Technicians and had him to the property just before 4:00pm that same day. The repairs were completed that evening and we invoiced him for the repairs. In our normal follow-up call a few days after service Tom thanked us for our quick response, said he would use us again and praised our Technician. TO DATE, OVER FOUR YEARS LATER, WE HAVE NOT BEEN PAID FOR OUR SERVICE! SprinklerWorks bent over backwards for Tom, to get him out of a jam, and that is how he thanks us. I have a saved voice mail from Tom on 7-30-14 where he states that "we will get a check right out to you". In late July of 2018 I posted several bad reviews of Five Star Brick Pavers on line. In retaliation to those reviews Tom Borchert Posted a bad review of SprinklerWorks where he made several false claims and allegations. He then had the nerve to come storming into our office screaming, cussing, yelling and making threats if we did not remove the reviews. On August 1, 2019 I sent Tom a text message where I told Tom I would accept the amount of our original invoice (less accumulated interest). He agreed to that and removed the bad review(s) and asked me to do the same. On August the 6th I replied to our text message string and told Tom I have removed the bad reviews of Five Star Brick Pavers. It is now 10 days later, and we have not received the certified check Tom promised. I suspect that Tom will again post bad reviews of SprinklerWorks online. Absolutely terrible company. My family paid a deposit last July, and have been strung along since. Tom has not delivered a single paver nor done any work, but keeps making promises and then not showing up or answering calls. Five star pavers just completed our new pool deck on Siesta Key and it looks fantastic! Tom recommended silver travertine pavers in a French pattern and it really gave us the updated, modern look we were looking for. Job never completed. I had a contract with Tom to install pavers, the contract specifically stated demo area, (we had filled in our pool) but the edges needed to be trimmed out after we removed the coping. We paid half down in Feb with a promise to have the job done in mid March, after repeatedly being put off the pavers were finally installed the week before Easter,on March 28th, As the crew was preparing to leave I asked when the pavers would be sealed, the foreman on the job was genuinely surprised that at my request, I showed him the contract. I stood there while he spoke to Tom on the phone, Tom said they would seal them the following week. That did not happen, two weeks ago I emailed Tom he promised to have someone come out and seal the pavers that week, two weeks have gone by the pavers have not been sealed and I have not recieved a phone call, email or any contact about a sealing date. Just had Five Star install a 16x16 paver patio. Quoted on Friday, job done on Saturday. Great job, fair pricing and so far so good on the customer service aspect. We have one very small issue that we were promised would be resolved this week. I'm hopeful the service remains at this high level now that the check has cleared.
