Lucked out somebody canceled and we took their table. Swordfish was perfect. Seafood linguini was legit. Wait staff was excellent. This meal was impromptu- we were looking at the menu from the road when a nice gentleman (Tufts guy) came over while entertaining his grandchild and spoke favorably about this place. He was right. It would be zero if they were an option. We went for our 30th anniversary after scouring reviews, and then menus. I only go places where there are at least two things on the menu I can eat (I have severe food sensitivities). We got there and we're greeted by a rude server who did everything but spit when w turned down his water list and opted for tap. The menu had changed, and wasn't the one online - not a problem, there was still one thing I could eat, just without the nuts. Phew! When he returned to take our order, mentioned I had said food probs, and before I could even ask about the nuts, he interrupted and said nastily enough for others around us to notice, "the chef won't change anything!" I said, "I just need the nuts left off this". He then said that they didn't have that item tonight. Folks, it was a one page, limited menu and it was not even 7pm. No one runs out of things that fast. We had to leave and I made dinner at our Airbnb for our anniversary. I tried calling the restaurant the next day and left a message. No one ever called back. I called again a few days later (maybe they don't know this server is super rude?) and when I gave my name, the manager was too busy working the bar to talk to me. I told the lady my experience and that I thought they should know. The manager never bothered to call. Very unprofessional. We had a lovely dinner here. I really enjoyed the blueberry martini. My fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce that it came in was amazing. The mushroom Risotto was worth every penny. I suggest adding on a side of it to your meal. The stuffed pasta was sooo delicious. Absolutely suggest going to this place. I will be back next time I am in town! read more

I couldn't be more impressed with Five-0. We had dinner here on a whim during a romantic night away and the meal was so good, we came back the next morning for Sunday brunch. Dinner may have been the best meal I ever had and I know I said it out loud at least once during the meal. We started with a pair of martinis, mine a dry martini with strong botanical gin and olives, and hers a ginger pineapple coconut martini. Both were excellent and I was surprised with how large a serving was. Next we did an assortment of 5 small plates ($18 for 5) of which they had an extensive menu of 20 to choose from. The chicken pate with pickled vegetables and crostini were full of flavor, as were the warm olives with roasted garlic. Arancini were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft and cheesy on the inside. Even the bread is served with a truffle butter, garlic oil, and a tapenade - all of which were amazing. For entrees we had the orecchiette with chicken sausage and the seared duck with cinnamon and sage veggies and butternut squash that tasted like a fall in every savory bite. The next morning when we arrived for brunch we were surprised that there was a fundraiser brunch going on as we had been there the night before and it wasn't promoted. $10 of every breakfast entree and the cost of every Bloody Mary or mimosa went to the Susan G. Koman for Breast Cancer. You have to admire any restaurant committed to a cause and earn only $2-5 per entree - and in some cases like the $8 basic Benny, lose money. They even got creative with pink ribbon pancakes as one of the specials on the menu. We opted for a burger that I asked for a fried egg on, the stuffed French toast, and the basic Benny. Everything was absolutely delicious. It was also great to have access to a full parking lot in an area where parking isn't easy. I would absolutely come back here again and again and will be my go to when staying in the area. read more

From the very minute we were greeted by the waitress/hostess we were treated very rudely. Every restaurant I've ever been to you have to check in with the hostess when you have a reservation. I tried to explain that to the hostess and she immediately said you have to step outside this minute. Waitress not very knowledgeable about the food on the menu and it was a very different menu than what we read online. Needless to say the crabcakes were cold and tasteless the muscles and gnocchi in ragu were extremely overseasoned and the linguine pasta was nothing more than a can of cream corn poured over linguine with a few tiny chunks of lobster. Came to Ogunquit for a play & a friend recommended this place to eat. We were promptly greeted & shown to our table. A very nice spot in the corner of the restaurant. We both order drinks off the cocktail list. I had the ginger coconut martini. It was excellent. Fresh ginger purée & toasted coconut in it. I started with the mix green salad with toasted hazelnuts. I was really turned off by the fact that the restaurant advertises an 11 PM. Closing time on the internet. So My wife and I have previously dined at Five-O and have had outstanding food & service, therefore: we were really looking forward to a late dinner at the conclusion of the musical that was playing at the Ogunquit Playhouse tonight, at five-o, so their were a good number of people having drinks in the bar at 10 PM, now one hour before closing time, and the chef came over and told us that they were done for the evening! Honestly, I'm so turned off by this that my wife, and I will not be returning. We also learned that if your in Ogunquit, in late October, the town closes down at 10 pm. I saw at least 10 people getting food that I recognized from the Playhouse getting fast-food at McDonald's in Wells, since that was the only thing open. read more

Great staff. Valet guy was fast and easy. Curly blonde host was handsome, friendly and charming, server was a pro. Best of OGT. Order the 3-5 tastings appetizers and sample lots of small plates to share. Entrees, swordfish special and bolognese pasta both excellent. Martinis better than tourist average size and well made, down side were the glasses of Chardonnay and Merlot were low grade and off temp poured in dime store glasses, not enough to return but disappointing. I came here on a Monday night in late October and it was actually more crowded than I would have thought. I was by myself on business so I just sat at the bar, which is pretty nice. Overall it's a pretty upscale place and priced accordingly. I had the "young lettuce" salad with pears because it was the closest thing they had to just a normal salad. It was better than I expected. For my meal I had the linguini in white clam sauce. The clams were the tiny ones that I often get in Europe but don't find often here. I usually prefer red sauce but this was good and I would get it again. For dessert I had a chocolate mousse type thing that was ok but not outstanding. The place isn't cheap and I think I paid $75 including tip for all that plus a glass of wine. Service at the bar was very good. Overall I think it's worth it. read more

Went here for dinner one night on vacation. Wasn't our first choice but the other restaurants either wouldn't answer the phone or were closed on Tuesday or Wednesdays. Very happy with the way things turned out though. Our waitress and the hostess were super nice. The bathroom was tiny but clean. We got the fried oysters (a bit greasy), the summer squash/zucchini soup (which the waitress recommended) which I could eat every day- I need to learn how to make it. For entrees I got the half portion of the lobster carbonara (it was eh) and my husband got the beef tenderloin. It's hard coming from NY food but the entrees were like a 6-7/10. Dessert was very good though- we got the blueberry Pana cotta which came with a side of something blueberry. The side was kind of cough syrupy but the pana cotta was soo good. The bathroom is TRIPPY. Mirrors everywhere. Leaning too far to the left or to the right on the toilet caused the loose toilet seat to slide which simulates a "falling to your death" experience. Food was wonderlust. Mussels truly transported me to the oceanfront, and made me feel as though I was riding on the tail of a hot ass mermaid. I ordered the grilled chicken with mushroom risotto and my taste buds orgasms all at once. My mom ordered the fish of the day: Hake. The chef sure seemed to Hack the Hake, as my mother was unable to cut the fish. After she complained, one of her wine glasses was changed to be free, out of courtesy. How nice? How nice. No points due to extremely poor service from Ricardo. Was at the restaurant late September with my wife and my sister who was visiting from Ireland. My sister wanted to pick up the bill and my wife (30 years experience as a waitress) wanted to pay the tip (food was great), so my wife said to place $5 on her card just to open it. Ricardo came back to tell my sister her card was declined and if she had another. She was puzzled by this but provided the other card. When Ricardo went away with her card, my sister went on line and saw a successful attempt on her first card followed by 5 declines. When the waiter came back she asked him about it and started to get some song and dance story that only one card was processed and that she would need to wait about 10 days as the restaurant would only accept one of them. My sister asked if he had the receipts and he dumped the torn up receipts on the table. My wife pushed him a bit on what happened and the he said that he was told that the way they were trying to split the expense with the two cards he might not get a tip so HE decided to decline the first card. All very confusing. Since my sister was leaving to go back to Ireland the next day she was anxious to get this resolved and asked for the manager. Apparently he was not available. Fortunately another waitress came over to assist and was empathetic to what was going on. She acknowledged that what occurred should not have happened. She said that it could take about 10 days for my sisters card to show the funds were back on it since the restaurant would only accept payment from one. She even got the manager/owner to write a check to my sister in case that did not happen. Since my sister could not deposit a US check in dollars in Ireland, I held onto the check just in case her card was not made ok. Fortunately I never needed to deposit the check and it all worked out. The reason I am posting this review several weeks later is because the situation should never have occurred in the first place. I read reviews of the restaurant at the time and saw the same waiter called out a bunch of times, but decided to chill and not write anything. I wondered after that night if the owner would have taken any corrective action, but then I read other reviews of "service" provided by the same waiter since and am surprised he is still employed, so decided I should share this. I guess it is so hard to find good staff these days that it is better to hold onto the staff you have and take a chance that they won't screw up. Best of luck to future guests. read more

We made reservations for outdoor dining on their lovely patio. Our server, Ricardo, quickly welcomed us with a smile and provided stellar service throughout our dining experience. The food was the best we've had yet on our vacation! While all of our meals were delicious and full of flavor, the lobster risotto was clear winner of the night. The braised lamb and steak dishes also amazing! We topped off our meal with a slice of blueberry lemon cake and a cappuccino. Highly recommend Five-O and we will be back! read more

Pretty disappointed after seeing such great reviews (and awards (!?!)). The space itself is decently nice, with views of Shore Rd through the large bay windows, and the service was quite pleasant (shout-out to Sammy). My wife and I started with the escargot and lobster encroute appetizers, both of which were inexplicably sweet. It was hard to identify what was so sweet in the sauce the snails were swimming in, but it had a dessert-like quality to it - which when mixed with escargot is rather off-putting. I wonder if they were trying to go for a sweet and sour type sauce, but after a sample tasting in the back, this should have been 86'd by the kitchen staff. The lobster meat was cooked nicely, and the truffles were a welcomed savory addition, but again the appetizer was overly sweet. The dish was thickened with either sweet cream or sweetened condensed milk, which simply overpowered the dish; its such a shame to treat Maine lobster in such a manner. After eating the appetizers I honestly wished we could've cancelled our entree orders and left, but I do have to admit the meal got at least slightly better from that point. I had the wild boar gnocchi, which was pretty much spot on, but nothing other worldly. My wife had the clam linguine, which was pretty tasty, but it was sitting in an entire pool of olive oil, making the bottom of the dish inedible. Due to the sweetness levels in our apps, we figured they'd be able to knock dessert out of the park. We split the lava cake w/ ice cream, which hit the mark, but wasn't enough to make up for their previous transgressions. read more

A very diverse menu satisfied 4 very different dinner desires - A beautifully prepared New York steak for my daughter, a very good monkfish for me, muscles for my other daughter, and a light menu mix and match for my wife. Sit at the bar! Five-O has delicious food and amazing cocktails. Their Sour Apple Martini is by far my favorite. Ive gone there just for that and ended up staying for dinner and dessert. It's a 'feel good' kind of place. Friendly locals, happy staff. Their bar is first come first serve and fills up very quickly So I recommend coming on the earlier side. read more

Based on the reviews, I expected this place to be phenomenal but every element of the experience, from the service, down to the food/drinks, was poor. Our reservation was for 8:00pm and we were seated promptly and ordered drinks within the first five minutes or so. By 8:25 we still didn't have drinks and no one came to check on us in the meantime. Drinks came at 8:30. Seems like an awfully long time to wait on a sidecar and a vodka tonic. We got two apps (arancini w/ truffled honey, brucschetta). The arancini were lukewarm and pretty average. The bruschetta was fine. I had the veal porterhouse and my girlfriend had the hake. I ordered my porterhouse rare and it was cooked medium to medium-well. The food tasted fine, but was nothing terrific. The hake had a large portion of skin still attached. Overall, I'd say this place has potential and the menu on paper looks solid, but the execution of virtually every element of what makes a good dining experience was flawed. The entree prices are steep and if you're paying $38 an entree, you expect them to be damn good. read more

This dinner was to be the highlight of our 3 nights in Ogunquit. I had made the reservation for Saturday night at 8:00, days before leaving NJ. We arrived on time and were told we would have to wait because our table hadn't been vacated yet. We were finally seated 20 minutes later. A busboy promptly showed up with water, but the waiter was no where to be found. When he finally showed, we asked if there were any specials. He brusquely responded no, just what's on the menu and walked away. Eventually he returned for the drink order. A half hour later he finally came with the drinks, apologizing for the long wait, saying the bar was backed up. Appetizers arrived and were good. No complaint there. But entrees did not arrive until 9:30. We waited so long I told the waiter I was no longer interested. I asked to see the manager and surprise, my waiter is the manager. So my complaint resulted in his being very defensive. He eventually comped our drinks and my entree (which I did not eat) and we left. If service is this bad in off season, what could it be like in the middle of summer? Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Outstanding... simply outstanding No. Five-0 Shore Road is located just a minute or two from Ogunguit center and a few minutes from Perkin's Cove. Specializing in new-style Italian cuisine, it is a vibrant and lively restaurant clearly we liked by visitors and residents of the area. With free valet parking, getting there is easy. The dining room is contemporary and warm. The staff are courteous and bent over backwards to accommodate our little daughter. To start we had the trio of small plates which was a great deal at $12. We ordered the chicken pate, artichoke arancini, and the proscuitto. All were delicious and served with a warm bread basket. The arancini were warm and crispy on the outside with melted cheese on the inside. The pate had a great taste and came with toast. Next up, we had the summer greens salad and the caesar salad. Both were very fresh and not overly flavored. My wife ordered the branzino for her entree. It was fresh, perfectly cooked, and served with delicious kalamata olives. I had the pork and mushroom agnolotti which were fantastic. We had a side of the truffled corn which was phenomenal. We capped off the meal with the mascarpone and ricotta cheese cake which came with lemon curd, strawberry compote, and strawberry sauce. The cheese cake was slightly sweet and creamy. Just perfect. Overall, we loved everything about No. Five-0 Shore Road. It was the perfect break from our binging on lobster rolls. read more

Wow!! Absolutely loved it. Had the lobster bisque which was crisp, tangy and fresh. Then had the salmon risotto which was subtle but intriguing. The highlight (other than the dessert) was the cod. If it is on the menu you have to try it. It was fresh, flaky, with a mild flavoring which was immaculate. For dessert I had the chocolate Frangelico tart and the Olive oil and orange cake. Loved them both but if I had to choose one I would go with the cake. Also got a chance to meet the chef and loved his focus on sustainable fishing techniques and the edible garden he has in the back. Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat for dinner on a Saturday night in the off season. The place was pretty crowded, but we were able to be seated right away. For the meal, we decided to split a few dishes: Melted Leek arancini (4 stars): These had a very good flavor, though I sort of wished they were served with a tomato sauce to really add a nice overall taste. Shaved prosciutto (3 stars): This was your classic prosciutto served in thin strips. Peppers agrodulce (5 stars): These were my favorite dish of the night as the peppers were so sweet and packed a ton of flavor. Maine clam chowder (4 stars): I really enjoyed this clam chowder as it had a nice mix of ingredients and the clam was nice and tender. Seabass (4 stars): This dish was a bit pricey, but the portion size was pretty large. The fish was cooked very well and all the ingredients came together nicely. Overall, I really liked the ambiance of this spot and our waitress was quite efficient and friendly--which I appreciated. Definitely a nice dinner option in Ogunquit. read more

We have had drinks and occasionally coffee and dessert. This place always delivers. Tonight we had dinner and Ashley our server knocked it out of the park! Her recommedations were spot on...from the salad to the pasta! Everything was delicious. Her service was attentive and her personality added a just a bit more! Maybe we didn't look enough like movie stars..... We went to 5-0 on the recommendation of our Inn's host. He even made reservations, "with a water view". Turns out the water view was a mural painted on the wall. Lah-dee-fricking-dah! The food was good, I'll give you that. We wanted wine, but didn't want a full bottle. So, we opted for a half, and it was still $30. And, it wasn't a half bottle, it was one of those airline bottles, that that gave us about 2/3 glass each. For $30! The only attentive staff member was our busboy. He took over for the waiter, who spent the evening ignoring us. It took almost 1/2 hour to get menus, over another half to place our meal order, and by the time our food came out, it was stone cold. Good, but cold. Most of my problems stemmed from our waiter, to be true. I'm still floored by the wine, though. read more

Very nice white cloth dinner restaurant with great service. Nothing was extraordinary but it was solid. Tender gnocchi w boar and vegetables was good and very glad We split.
