Our instructor Valerie was the perfect instructor for our daughters. She was prompt, a great communicator, gave helpful feedback on what to focus on in between lessons, the girls were comfortable with her, and most important - they both got their drivers licenses the first time they took their driving test! Great and friendly customer service. Used them for my goddaughters behind the wheel drivers training. The driver was very prompt in picking her up and was so helpful giving her tips and advice during her four sessions behind the wheel. This left her very confident and she was able to pass her DMV test on the first try just days after finishing up her sessions. I highly recommend Five O for anyone in the area. Five O Driving School is amazing! I had an absolutely great experience. John, the owner and one of the instructors, truly cares about helping you get through the whole driving experience. This really shows in every aspect of Five O driving school. In every situation I had to deal with learning to drive as a college student I felt properly prepared. The instructors are all selected ex-highway patrol officers that know any question you may have about the DMV or the driving test. This raises your confidence and makes you always feel one step ahead. They provided a brand new 2017 dodge charger to drive in which was great! They drive you in very similar situations to the test and after 3 lessons I was easily able to pass. If you are looking for a driving school In the San Luis Obispo area, this is the best choice you can make. read more

Terrific driving school - my teen son enjoyed James and John's instruction and even got to drive in a cool looking Charger which doesn't hurt.... he passed his driving test both written and driven and only missed a point. I'd say they taught him well and would recommend their business to anyone searching for a reliable and safe instruction. read more

Son passed, but I was not wildly impressed with the advice of their instructor at Five O. When I would drive with him after his Five O lessons, he would always be stopping a good 10-12 feet behind the line at stop signs, and he was told to enter all freeways at a speed of 65. That's insane on both accounts, and the DMV employee that administered the test agreed. If you stop too short of the line, you're a target to be rear ended, not too mention you make it even more difficult to see around most corners. In regards to entering the freeway at 65, Really?!? All on ramps are different, as are traffic conditions. Bad advice. Yes, he passed, but it took me convincing him that the appropriate distance of a stop was the right way to go. At the conclusion of the test, he asked the tester about both situations, and the tester confirmed she was getting poor instruction. read more

I was terrified of driving before I started driving with Five O Driving School, I honestly thought that I would never be able to get my license. John, the owner/instructor, is an amazing teacher and has helped me become so much more confident and a much better driver. He really wants kids to succeed and is extremely honest about how you're doing as a driver. I would highly recommend this school to anyone, especially people like me (over 18 year olds who can't drive). read more
