Excellent burgers! A lot of good, fresh quality toppings to chose from. It's a simple version of a burger bar: Build your own burger.. but with traditional burger ingredients: lettuce, mayo, relish, grilled/fresh onions, ketchup, mustard, mushrooms, jalapenos.. etc. They have a few extras like bbq sauce, A1 Sauce, or hot sauce.. They provide just a plain, simple burger! A tip: A "regular" burger has two beef patties.. a "little" burger has one patty. In my honest opinion.. a little better than In-N-Out.. *almost* up to par with The Habit. Fries: They get their potatoes fresh from a farm and they even tell customers where the current batch is from. You HAVE to try the Cajun Fries! So much better.. and more salty. Yum. haha! But yeah, I love cajun fries and it's so hard to stop eating them. They have regular fries too, so you can have them both ways. Hey-ohhh!! The customer service: My favorite thing that I saw at Five Guys Burgers was a sign that read: "Thank You, Customers. You, the customer are the most important visitor on our premises. You are not dependent on us, we are dependent on you. You are not an outsider in our business -- you are a part of it. I'd been curious about this place for at least a year, when I started seeing rumblings about it across my facebook newsfeed and as "hot on yelp" spots. I went to the West Covina Mall today, and noticed they're in the process of setting up/opening a location there. Since it was around lunch time, I was determined to get a good burger. So, I drove the 23 miles out to this one. Was it worth the drive? No. Was it worth the $17? No. But oh well, now I know. I've gained the knowledge that I more than likely won't be going back to any of the locations. I'd choose an In N' Out Burger or any other local burger shop. I ordered the little cheeseburger, and my friend ordered the regular cheeseburger. We shared a large order of fries. It was a TON of fries. Then we both ordered sodas all for a total of $17. The burgers arrived soggy/wet. I'm guessing they get immediately wrapped in the foil after their cooked which leads to some condensation softening it up a bit. The patties are definitely hand formed, but on both burgers they fell out in chunks. The "grilled onions" weren't really grilled at all. And there was just way too much ketchup. And not one drop of mustard. The lettuce inside the burgers was the "butt of the lettuce." You know, those parts of the head of lettuce that are white and lack flavor and full of water? Yeah, that part. Now, they gave us enough fries for more people which is a good thing... if we had 4 people or if we were told it'd be an awfully large order for us. We could've saved some money by order regular size, and not wasted food by throwing it away. The fries were cajun, which gave them some spice. They were covered in the seasoning. It wasn't just a sprinkle, they were smothered. The fries just weren't that good. The color scheme is very similar to In n' Out (red/white) which is kinda weird, and the place is decorated with their "raving reviews" and "awards" all dated pre-2008. Music inside was way too loud to think or have a conversation. There's just no reason why that food should have cost so much for 2 people. I won't be making the drive out here nor would I plan on going to the location that's opening up near me. LITTLE BACON BURGER $4.16: lettuce, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms (extra), mayo and ketchup. I really like the idea of customizing your own burger but EXTRA didn't really show on my burger because the amount of GRILLED MUSHROOMS didn't look like they put more. Also, I was kinda disappointed how the burger didn't look nice but I should put into consideration that the staff were really busy and they don't have time to make your burger pretty. Their burger is good and it is worth the try.. Five Guys is somewhat PRICEY. LARGE FRIES $3.89: Not crispy at all and kinda saggy. It tasted better with the BBQ Sauce. They don't really give a lot of fries for large. SMALL RESTAURANT with small outdoor dinning area on the side. I wouldn't recommend large group to dine inside their restaurant but to go is always welcome. THEY GIVE FREE PEANUTS FOR THE CUSTOMERS! So that customers will have something to chew on while waiting for their order. Definitely will go back and try to have the full experience inside the restaurant and try their hotdog and sandwiches once it's not so crowded anymore. Came here for a good burger (haven't came here in years) I remember when this place first opened long lines crowded and everything. Today it was so quiet it was just me and my guest and 1 other customer and the employees. They were all really friendly made us some good burgers. We ate some peanuts while we waited. The only reason why I'm not giving them a full 5 star is because the fries even though they were fresh and hot they lacked in flavor. No salt or anything. Other than that my burger was oh so good. We had a wonderful experience at 5 guys. Sunday 6/6/2021, 7:45 pm. the staff was friendly and efficient! We had THE best burgers! And the fries are always amazing. We thought one of our shakes was a little watery (we had too many toppings in it), so the staff member explained that a few less toppings would help and made us a new amazing shake! I had never been to a Five Guys before. The menu does not state WHAT is in a Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Little Hamburger, Little Cheeseburger, Little Bacon Burger and Little Bacon Cheeseburger. IT SHOULD I had to ask how many patties are in a Cheeseburger and was told two. I ordered a Cheeseburger which was $7.35, Regular Fry which was $4.09 and Peanut Butter Milk Shake which was $3.99, total with tax of $16.65. The Cheeseburger, in my opinion, does not taste as good as the In N Out Double Double; it is a little thicker but lacks the taste. The Regular Fry could feed a family of five, is loaded with grease and also lacks the taste of the In N Out French Fries. The Peanut Putter Milk Shake was very good but not better than the In N Out Milk Shake. The In N Out Double Double is $3.85, French Fries are $1.85 and Milk Shake is $2.45, total with tax of $8.80. The Five Guys does not taste as good and even if it did is NOT worth more than TWICE what you would pay at In N Out. read more

Overall, the atmosphere was hectic because this location just recently opened. I placed internet order via the "5 Guys" Android application at 1:05pm and it stated that my order would be ready at 1:25pm. Arrived at 1:25pm but did not receive my food until 1:37pm. The restaurant was crowded, 20-25 people waiting in line to order and another 20-25 people waiting for their order at any given time. Making up your mind about the sauces and fix-in's are a whole other story. They offer (this is off the top of my head) grilled onions, jalapenos, peppercini's, mushrooms, bacon, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, A1, lettuce, tomatos, pickles, ... and it goes on and on. Definitely a first time I was this disappointed in this location. Staff definitely wasn't the friendliest or helpful. No buns for our hot dogs, so we had to get hamburger buns. This place, what can I say about it that hasn't already been said. It rivals in and out for the best burger joint in the west. I think personally it has an edge on in and out because of its variety and options on the burgers. The options are so vast that you can make so many different combinations, as you please. the meat is very comparable and so is the bun, but due to the packaging at five guys, and how it kind of presses everything together in the wrapper, I feel like the flavors mix better and blend into each other. The fries are hands-down better, I prefer to get them slightly crispy with Cajun seasoning. The portions are also more generous although the price is slightly higher. The only thing that this place is missing is lettuce wrapping their burgers. If they did that they would be their hands down favorite. My 1st visit ever to this place was this afternoon. I hadn't planned on going, but I knew I'd try it eventually. Normally, it's pretty packed, however, this was the least crowded I've ever seen it w/ no line since it was between lunch & dinner time. I tried the cheeseburger w/ jalapenos, grilled onions, & mushrooms w/ cajun fries. So nice that the burger toppings are free. The burger was good...not as good as In-n-Out in my opinion, but good if you're in the mood for a different flavor. I guess they automatically give you a double patty even though it doesn't say on the menu. I liked the cajun fries. They were a nice change. They had the right amount of spice/zest. This location isn't a drive-thru & it's in a pretty inconvenient location, so I won't be going here hardly when there's much more convenient locations to get a burger. 3 out of 5 stars. Before anything, I am an In N Out lover, I compare all burgers I eat to In N Out :) Burger: Burger tasted OKAY. Tasted different than what I usually have (In N Out, Mc Donalds, Carls Jr, etc), but it wasn't that appealing. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, just average with a different type of taste. I kind of laughed at the "all condiments are free" which was in regards to lettuce, tomato, onions, etc, but since when do fast food burger places ever charge for that? Anyways, the patty itself is actually quite small, but having all the condiments is what makes the burger LOOK big, but it really isn't. The cheese they use is almost bland. It actually tastes like the Kraft cheese you can buy from Costco, which is general cheese for like picnics or whatever, not quality cheese IMO. Fries: The regular fries are bland/normal. I LOVE their Cajun fries though, but I don't recall a place having nasty Cajun fries so it's nothing special really. But yea, their regular fries are not recommended getting. They are very generous with fries, so that's a plus. Sodas: Yay, they had Mr. Pibb as my supplement to Dr. Pepper. Service: Actual cooking and stuff is quite fast. Line is long but you don't have to wait too long to get your food, they have lots of workers. Place is a bit dirty due to everyone eating the free peanuts they offer through and they only have 1 stall restrooms per male and female. They also need to ventilate the building, it's really hot in their, need the A/C! Price: Expensive. Not a bit pricey, but expensive for a fast food joint. Overall summary: Portion size and quality is not worth the price to go there. It's about 10 bucks for the meal which is quite expensive compared to other fast food joints (In N Out cheeseburger combo is only like 6-7 bucks and same goes for Mc. Donalds). I would ONLY return there to buy a soda and Cajun fries, but that's about it. I believe it was stated in some newspaper or magazine that they were trying to compete with In N Out and at the top really, but not even close really. I'm not trying to badger Five Guys and say In N Out is epic over everything, but In N Out just beats Five Guys. Went here after my husband started raving about it... I'm sorry, but I just don't get what all the hype is about. You do get to serve yourself free peanuts when you walk in. This definately wins points with kiddies and fatties... But if you aren't into blaring 80's Rock (think 'Karate Kid' soundtrack), you'll be annoyed as I was throughout your meal. Must admit- the fries are YUMMY!!! Try sprinkling them with some of the malt vinegar they have on hand! The bacon hot dog was also good- they use a thick bacon and don't over cook it- they also split the hotdogs lengthwise & they get a little crispy from being on the grill w/ that peanut oil. But the burgers- eh. They aren't BAD by any means. They have a ton of free toppings that you can put on them, including fresh jalapeno's, sauteed mushrooms, onions, tomato, etc. And you can taste that the quality of the meat is much higher than a majority of the other mediocre burger chains out there... But to me, it was kind of like a cheaper & smaller version of a Chili's or Red Robin Burger. I think what makes people love In-N-Out is that it's super fresh and the flavor is very DISTINCT. Was not impressed at all. I heard on the news this was supposed to be In-N-Outs biggest competition, but it didn't even compare. SO believe it or not..this was the FIRST Five Guys I've EVER been to! I've been told about how epic the burger is and how incredible the fries are after being fried in peanut oil...blahblahblah... Burger: I LOVE Burgers. and love fries. So for me, this was an easy winner. HOWEVER..when i get a cheese burger, I usually like it partially or completely melted. We tried Five Guys Burgers on the recommendation of a friend. We were not disappointed! We found the burgers to be good sized and so very tasty as well as the generous portion of fires. Five Guy is definitely a rival to In N Out in terms of taste, portions and price. I think In N Out has really gone done hill lately and would definitely visit Five Guys over In N Out any day. Yeah, they have no drive through and you have to go inside, but that is not a big issue for us. Besides, you can eat inside in a simplistic dinning atmosphere with lots of barrel of really good peanut to feast on while you wait for you meal. The only negative thing I can say is that Five Guys is not local to Upland and we do have to drive to Rancho. But, the quality of food and service far out weighs the short drive for us. This location provides poor customer service and food quality. I ordered a BLT sandwich, regular hamburger with cheese, and fries. The bacon in the sandwich was burnt and inedible (see picture), and the hamburger had no real flavor. Furthermore, the burger upset my stomach and had me going to the bathroom. I contacted the store and spoke with Luz, the manager, who was quick to get me off the phone and not rectify the problem. She was slow to apologize and hesitant to credit the order, and unable to refund the order over the phone. Due to the current state of things, I would prefer not to be out in public unnecessarily. My experience today Jan. 2nd 2020 was great as well as the last 2 visits in 2019. I think it depends on when you go and who's working what station. I see a lot of mixed reviews. Employees seem to switch up their work stations quite frequently which may lead to the inconsistency. My cashier today had a black eye and red blood shot actual eye lmfao. Went in last night to get dinner for my family, but I quickly noticed that both the cashier and the cook were wearing their masks under their chins. I told the cashier that I changed my mind for this reason and he said "Oh ok". I left and went to Panera Bread where the employee mask policy is enforced by management. On a good note.... It is not on Route 66, and you cannot even see it from Foothill Bl. And its neighbor is a CVS. Wow! I hope Five Guys did not pay a whole lot for market research.
