The rooms were decorated so cute, all of the rooms, shared hangout spaces, and bathrooms were so clean and inviting. I especially loved that our bathroom had a garden tub in it! When it came to breakfast time I don't think there was a single thing more I could have asked for. Every morning there was coffee, apple juice, orange juice, assorted toasts/breads, eggs, fruit, delicious homemade baked goods (blueberry muffins and the apple nut bread was my favorite). On other days we also had biscuits and gravy, and amazing Amish bacon added to the already perfect breakfast spread. If you are looking for a place to stay while in town I would highly recommend the Haysler House bed and breakfast.

I made reservations here months ago...and Lorraine kept good communication with me...regarding my stay...she even noticed that I did not book the room for the full stay that I needed...she took it upon herself and added and extra night to my 11 day stay....which was amazing! because otherwise I would had not had a hotel available the night of my arrival. Cleansiness is HUGE for me, I walked barefoot in her beautiful wood finished floors....and to my surprise the "clean" feeling was omnipresent....my towels, the bath mats everything was just impeccable. When she saw that we had a plug-in vehicle, she let us use the outlet in her private garage so we could charge our vehicle. Since it was our first time at the lake, she was very good about offering up suggestions for places to eat, attractions to see, what to avoid, etc. Her food recommendations were very good. The room was very comfortable. Sheets were outstanding, although the bathroom towels left a little to be desired in comparison. Room was kept clean. The property itself is beautiful and has an outstanding view. Right across the way a popular crab leg joint has recently opened bringing a lot more activity into the small marina. It creates a bit of noise in the evening. My wife and I enjoyed the music, and took a stroll to check it out and enjoyed ourselves. However, if you're not in the mood for that type of thing, it may hamper your experience. Her private dock is an excellent place to lay out and relax since the lake was packed due to the holiday. We used her lounge chairs, opened a bottle of wine, and let the dock rock us to sleep as if we were adrift on the lake. On the second night, she offered us freshly made chocolate dipped strawberries. Her fruit all weekend long was very well selected. The Four Seasons sets off fireworks on Sunday evenings during the summer. The balcony is an excellent spot to view without having to deal with crowds. Breakfast was served on our private patio each morning. She offers 2 courses each day and breakfast was good each day. I've certainly had better meals, but considering it was a full house and she was was serving each room at different times, was consistently good. If it was a breakfast restaurant only, i would return, it just might not be my go to. However paired with the property and hospitality, was a very enjoyable stay.

We chose to stay in Booneville for a quick get away from the Kansas City area. If you combine it with a trip over to the Arrow Rock Lyceum theater, you've got a perfect little 24 hour trip. The inn is beautiful with four Victorian rooms to choose from and another three French inspired rooms a few doors down. All the rooms have private bathrooms, coffee service, gorgeous furnishings, access to their beautiful gardens, and an incredible breakfast, made by Linda. The Grand Victorian Manor is a true bed & breakfast experience with great amenities, food, service, and hospitality.

The land it's on has plenty of wildlife - especially deer - which can be enjoyed from the porch in the back or front. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, we especially enjoyed the chocolate chip orange pancakes and the savory waffles. Angie, Diane, and Tim were such wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed chatting with them in the mornings.

The B&B consists of two suites. I'm in the Federal Suite which includes a bedroom/bath, parlour, dining room, and a kitchen. It's almost bigger than my apartment! In addition to all the comforts of home (plus a homemade breakfast made to order), the B&B comes with Jeanette, a self-described "Innkeeper/Grandma." Jeanette is an incredibly sweet woman who loves her B&B and makes her customers feel very much at home. She even called me after the first day of the bar exam to see how I was doing! This place is great! I don't know if I'll ever come back to Jeff City, but if I do, I'll stay here.

I wish I could add more than five stars for Amber House. I don't feel like five does it justice…read more The hospitality and kindness we receive when we stay is above and beyond. I'm the one who doesn't want to sit around in a room but it's so cozy and relaxing here that I don't ever want to leave. My husband and I have traveled to Europe, been on cruises, and been all around the US. The food we receive at Amber House is better than anything we have had anywhere else in our travels. We brag to everyone and tell people they have to stay here! We enjoy speaking with the owners and hearing all their stories. The highlight of this trip (314/3-15, 2021) was the farewell committee headed by their youngest son who is just as friendly and caring as his parents. We can't wait to go back to Amber House. We know we will never be disappointed!!
