I experienced no grace or openness from the manager who rudely called me and dismissed my side of a situation. He talked down to me like I was a child in his local church assembly. Apparently, asking a teenage lifeguard what she plans to do for future school or her age bracket is such a violation that I was equal to a pedophile roaming for kids. It was a horrible judgment and a scary reaction from a place filled with supposed Christian beliefs. It was more like liberals holding a witch hint who throw Bibles everywhere. A cancel culture should never manifest in a so-called Christian environment. To make matters worse, the idiot manager called the local police after he threatened to do so. Why? Because I dared him to talk down to me in person. It is amazing how panicky a manager acts when he is challenged to talk the same way in person to a grown man as he did over the phone. Perhaps this community needs to realize that a church community is not the same as a public community. If the management act punitive over a few questions, then be prepared to censor yourself similarly to liberal environments up north. Both groups act like tribes with harsh codes protecting their turf. As far as them being Christian, omit the following traits from their formula: graceful, merciful, forgiving, tolerant, or wise. When I spoke to the police officer, I shared my story which was also canceled by the manager. The office said, "I am sorry. This behavior is happening everywhere, not just in liberal states. We get complaints like this one, and that organization is private so they can do qhat they want." Hence, the cancel culture exists in the south, and acted on by those waiving their Bibles on walls. To future customers, do not be fooled by the Bible verses. It is a business with some very judgmental, fragile management. They did me a favor! ​

The staff at this Planet Fitness greeted me when I arrived and on my way out. At check-in, I didn't experience any snags- just swiped my card and walked in (no signing in or showing ID, etc). Unlike other locations, there's no kiosk to sign up for black card services like the tanning and massage beds, which was a little confusing for me compared to Charleston, but the manager saw that I was confused and signed me in. The Black Card area isn't as large as other Planet Fitness locations, but the facilities were clean, and the tanning bed rooms even have mirrors. My guess is the Black Card benefits may not be popular here since this is Florence's only Planet Fitness. Florence is a small town and this is one of the smaller Planet Fitness locations. The cardio equipment doesn't have personal viewing screens, but TVs on the wall offer local channels, news (CNN and Fox News), and sports (ESPN). I was a member of another local gym when I lived here, and my gym membership is a big priority for me, but this Planet Fitness is good enough for casual working out and the occasional gym trip when I'm in town for work.

This morning while escorting my fiancee (who is beginning a new healthy lifestyle) I was rudely confronted by a "trainer" ( not an actual employee ) who demanded to see my gym card immediately almost the moment I walked through the door. My fiancee explained that she had gym card and we have a joint membership, and she could look is up in the computer, but being she's not actually an employee she could not. Me and my fiancee quietly and peacefully did our work out and my fiance left our names with the "trainer" so that she could forward it to an employee and they could clock the hours we were there for our work out. The gym manager I know only as Ms. D felt our behavior was so outrageous that she called my fiance and threatened to cancel our memberships. I'm a quiet person and I do my best to avoid trouble. But it was embarrassing and hurtful to be singled out in such a rude way. I didn't see any other person who came in ( and there were quite a few ) get scrutinized and confronted. It was a real set back for me and my fiancee whose spirits I work hard to keep up in hope she sticks to her new healthy life style. I've been a member at a lot of different gyms but I've never been treated so rudely for doing absolutely nothing wrong in my life.
