This is one of the worst gyms I have ever trained in. After Gigagym13 closed in the 13th Arr., I looked into Fitness Park. I put up with Fitness Park Place de Clichy for 2 years. The other options were other Fitness Parks which are half the size of the Clichy location. I am not sure HOW I did it, but it was mostly just convenience because it was close to my place. This is an absolutely fair review, I am not embellishing it (if you have ever been to a chain gym in the USA or an actual pro gym, you'll understand this). I have trained at gyms all over the world from Muscleworks in London to Top Gym in Vienna to Splash Healthclub in Amsterdam. Fitness Park Place de Clichy issue #1: It's filthy. Locker rooms smell like urine, they are rarely cleaned and I have NEVER seen the gym mopped or cleaned in anyway in over 2 years. NOT ONCE. I have seen the same trash on the gym floor, in the same place for days. The same piece of gum stuck to the wall or in a urinal for MONTHS! Issue #2: Equipment is old, broken, and poorly maintained. Things that were broken 2 years ago are still broken. There are two old cable machines only 3 of the 4 cables are working, thus only ONE cable machine is fully operational for cable flys etc. I noted that up to 20% of the equipment is broken or rigged for an attempt to be used at any given time. The company just does NOT CARE as long as they are getting your $$. Issue #3: MANY of the members of this gym are complete morons. LOTS of sitting on machines texting away. Lots of throwing and dropping weights, no one puts their equipment away, and very often you will have some street trash playing music from their own equipment with no regard for anyone else in the gym. Asking someone how many sets they have is basically a message for them to take a lot longer or to become defensive and want to fight, at the very least you will have made an enemy. No one understands basic courtesy or gym etiquette. Issue #4: You will find front desk employees outside in the front of the building smoking. YUP! You get to walk through a haze of cigarette smoke to enter a HEALTH CLUB. Issue #5: The ONE water fountain has been broken for well over a year. Issue #6: Be prepared to hear N*gger, p*ssy, bit*h, ho, etc from the music being played throughout the gym CONSTANTLY. So if you are sensitive to misogyny and annoying gangster rap bring your own headphones (just be aware they won't work when the guy next to you is blasting his own sh*tty music from a speaker). I have been told by my local French friends that this Fitness Park is full of ex convicts and suburbanites who don't know a thing about gym etiquette. Issue #7: The gym is always packed and I am guessing a lot of people there are not even actually members, but are let in through the "bro-system". Like, "eh mon pote, est-ce que mon frérot peut soulever avec moi?". In General a good gym is a hard thing to find in Paris. It hasn't always been that way. Until someone comes along with the ability to put Fitness Park out of business, Paris will be relegated to one of those anomalous big cities with zero good options for a progressive, clean, well equipped, gym full of people with fitness goals, general courtesy, and knowledge of gym etiquette. There are no good options for pro-gyms or bodybuilding gyms at this time. Fitness Park Place de Clichy is a filthy, poorly maintained, packed with rude people, decrepit dump. And I am being kind. :O) read more
