Ok. Let's firstly establish that I dislike exercise. I am a cake-eater and have a sedentary job. Exercise is a chore.
However, post-Christmas gorging (I know it's March) has made me finally get bum in gear and do something about it. So with a ten day voucher in my hand, off I went with slight trepidation. Everyone always seems to know what they are doing in these places and always seem to be lying across some equipment with a massive amount of weight on looking healthy!!
However, I must say that this wasn't like every other gym i have been into.... it really was about the fitness rather than the posing and the impressive atriums (atria? my latin fails me)! You walk in and the gym is essentially a warehouse rammed with equipment and people actually doing stuff. not sweaty and musty, but cool and, dare i say it, almost pleasant smelling!
I have no discipline to do training on machines myself so off I went to a circuits class in the large studio... which was a bit odd, but that's another story. Then pilates, with the lovely Jo. For some reason, i thought pilates was like Yoga! how wrong was I! ow.
Anyway, the whole gym is fit for purpose. pleasant changing rooms, modern equipment and I ache from the classes, which is good, right? no pain, no gain?! gah
I just still couldn't justify paying all that money when i should be walking my dog and could be digging the garden over or walking up and down the stairs... energetically!
