Menifee is without any good seafood options and finally got one in Fishbone Seafood! Waited for the opening day hype to slow and visited for some take out. Service was prompt and polite and we didn't need to wait for our food for too long. Ordered the Fish and Oyster combo, 10 piece Shrimp (fried), red beans and rice, collard greens, and sweet potato pie. Once we got home we dove right in. The catfish and oysters were cooked well and tasty and they give a good portion. The shrimps were delicious and although they asked if we'd like the "jumbo" shrimp, we found this to be filling as-is. They tossed in a couple of hush puppies which were pretty run-of-the-mill but good nonetheless. The greens were ok but not as vinegary as I like them. The red beans and rice were good, needed a little salt, but it complimented our meal. To finish, the sweet potato pie was ok but no the best I've had, and will probably pass in the future. I've been ordering delivery from here for a while and it always lives up to my expectations. I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to, especially after going inside and sitting down to eat there! So good! We were so lucky because they just finished making a fresh batch of cornbread and omg. It was literally the best cornbread I've ever had, and that's really saying a lot. I've been eating cornbread for 36 years and I've had cornbread from so many different places across the US. The service was also great, they are very warm and attentive. And the ambiance is casual but very clean. I truly love this place. It's so hard to find good soul food in this area so I am VERY grateful for a place like this in Menifee! The French fries were burnt and cooked at least twice over the past week. The hush puppies (Burnt) the salad ok; but the Italian dressing was pure oil. The food isn't great at all. Got a salmon plate that came with 2-3 pieces of salmon, mac and cheese and corn bread. The salmon had decent flavor but was soo dry and not what you'd expect from a restaurant that's supposed to specialize in sea food. This place makes my dad's tummy hurt, so that automatically lowers the star ratings to me; however, with that said, it don't make MY tummy hurt. My husband, grandsons and I had lunch here today and were pleasantly impressed. The hospitality, and atmosphere was inviting. The food was flavorful with large portions. I try very very hard to patronize black businesses. Since Fishbone opened in Menifee I have been here three times. I wanted to make certain that when I posted a review that it was accurate. Each time I have ordered there has been something not right with my order. Burnt bread on a po boy, shrimp that has not been cleaned properly and the worst peach cobbler I have ever tasted. When I heard black owned I knew I had to try it! We ordered catfish and oyster combo and a shrimp and oyster combo with Mac n cheese, collards and fries. The catfish was fried pretty good oysters where a little thick. Shrimp was the best part. The hush puppies were the size of a jaw breaker which they almost accomplished being they were so hard. The Mac n cheese should have been thrown out before it was made. All it was is rubbery macaroni noodles and cheese plus a lot of pepper an hr later and I still have heart burn! Despite the recent negative reviews, I decided to try this place out. When I went in, there was nobody inside, and it initially made me wonder why. A young girl took my order and told me it would be about five minutes or so. That five minutes was the longest five minutes I've had to wait for food - it stretched into nearly a half-hour wait. During that time, an order came up and it was for someone waiting outside. I had been there for almost 15 minutes before their order was called up, so they had quite a wait as well. A few more people came in, and the same was told to each of them: "It will be about 5-10 minutes." I guess if they tell you it will be a half-hour people might change their mind about eating there. But being honest about the wait should be paramount. That said, the food finally showed up; the two kids I interacted with were nice and polite, and that is a plus in this day and age (I'm old, so they're kids to me). The food was pretty good, and it was plentiful... I definitely had enough to eat. Is $22 a lot for 'fast food' that isn't really fast? I knew going into it that the portions were said to be plenty, and that the pricing was about twenty bucks, so I wasn't shocked. However, for the price and amount of food, I would say it's very reasonable, and I'll likely be back - I love seafood and it was pretty good and cooked properly. But I will probably chuckle if I get told, "That'll be ready in about five minutes" again. read more
