    Laotan snakehead fish soup
    Anna A.

It was the first time visiting this restaurant for me and i have heard great reviews about it. we ordered 2 different types of broth base, Laotan snakehead fish and Green pepper basa. Flavor wise, both were very good and flavorful and fish were nicely cooked. However I found the green pepper soup base to be very salty to my preference. But flavor was there. But i did enjoy the fish in the soup which went very well with the rice noodles and rice. I might go back to try another soup though and s

Caught the end of their 15% promotion but $30 for 2 people is already quite cheap. $30 for basa filet, $38 for snakehead fish or beef. The place was full and there were 2 servers but one was quite busy doing all the drinks and the till so server was a bit tough to flag down. They apologized for forgetting about us and gave us complimentary milk tea. It was not bad. We got the green sichuan peppercorn soup and it was so good. Perfect amount of numbing for me. The only thing I wish they can do better is have equal amount of add ons. There was so much bean curd skin but so little siu choy. The rice is also quite overcooked so they should add less water. It's nice to have an option of multigrain rice. Price point is good and I would definitely come agaib.

Saturday January 4th 2025 @ 12:30 noon. Ordered the *RECOMMENDED * #H Hot Onion Boiled Fish w/ Pickled Cabbage fixed dish (招牌热炮酸菜鱼) and I absolutely loved it!!!!! The first 20 minutes of tasting the soup WILL BE SEARING HOT (and hard to enjoy) but afterwards the flavour truly shines through. Plus the unlimited rice bowl refills. So when you scoop a half-spoonful of rice and dig into that soup, each bite fills you up with warm umami heaven Even for a SMALL portion, there was enough food for 2 full adults. Snakehead fish was buttery-smooth to the mouth, and they put in a generous amount of protein. Price for what I got was definitely worth it. I also ordered the Milk Tea $4.95 but the price wasn't worth it but it was nice n cold. Service was fast, helpful, and consistent. Interior was friendly-looking and bright! Overall, I highly HIGHLY *RECOMMEND* Fish With You I would absolutely come back and I'm already thinking of trying another soup base. / FIVE STARS.

Visited this place many times since they opened in 2023 and it's not until they roll out their recent anniversary promotion this June that I realize they've opened for over a year. They are deserving of 5 stars for their consistent soup flavors, efficient service and good value. We have ordered their non-spicy tomato broth plus other spicy specialties broth and I enjoyed both soup base. The spicy version was quite spicy for me in the beginning but over time, it grows on my palate. It really hits the spot and was extra comforting on those cold rainy days. It's easy to order...kinda like a simplified hot pot meal. You choose your preferred soup base and choice of meat then select 4 toppings to include in the pot. Voila, your meal is ready and comes with unlimited rice refills, which is one of their selling point, offering good value and a guarantee that you will not leave hungry. My favorite topping is their sweet potato vermicelli and for the meat option, we usually stick to ordering the fish (墨魚). I posted the receipt as i find it amusing that it translates as snakehead fish on receipt; to me, it tastes like cod and has cod fish texture. There are also group sharing combo menu options such as meal for two which includes 2 drinks and choice of more cooked food items. Menu has many appetizer or other cooked items such as fries that you can add to your meal. Free parking is available inside Crystal Mall or you can pull up to the metered parking spots just outside its entrance for convenience. If you live or work close to Crystal Mall or plan to frequent the place often, you can also purchase a VIP cash card for $200, $300 or $500 for further discounts.

This vibrant spot is a great place for reasonably priced meal deals with hefty portions. I only got size small soups and they were so filling with good amounts of protein and veggies. The broths I tried were so tasty, surpassing my expectations. The soups come with a choice of two sides, popcorn chicken or pork, a lemon tea, and unlimited rice! Recommendations: *Princess tomato sliced beef with lettuce + bean curd (this is the best tomato broth I've ever tried!!) *Laotan sauerkraut fish small basafish with enoki mushroom + baby cabbage *Takoyaki *Durian ball

Yum! Located on the side of crystal mall, this restaurant was nice and bright. Highly recommend the top 1 best seller, the large laotan snakehead fish ($37.95). The large can be shared between two people and you can pick 4 side dishes to be added. With dine in, you also get unlimited rice! The snakehead has a really good texture and better than basa. We also got the tomato sauce one too, and it's quite nice but we enjoyed the classic spicy sauerkraut one more. For dessert, the deep fried durian balls were really delicious.

First time at fish with you I got to try their super value for two such a good deal and lots of food! It's free unlimited rice and we decided to get sliced beef with their pickled cabbage and chilli soup base I love the sour and pickled veggies and choosing 4 toppings for the large portion I got bean curd, tofu, black fungus, and crystal vermicelli. The extra toppings were so filling and they did not hold back! I got crispy popcorn chicken for the side and orange fruit tea and milk tea for drinks. This place does not disappoint, the portion is huge and it's all about sharing and caring, family style eating from one big pot and some rice. I love dipping the rice into the soup although a big oily it's so good and gives the rice some flavour. I'm definitely coming back and wanna fish again and try their basa fish or snakehead and have puffy fishy lips from this deliciousness

Looks like the latest entrant for the whole AYCE empty carb trend that is trending these days. This restaurant is the 2nd location (original is in NYC) and features AYCE white rice. Yes. Rice. This place opened April 2023. Parking is available in the Crystal Mall underground lot. The restaurant faces Willingdon (W side of the mall, on the exterior), about halfway down the mall. Took me a while to find this place. Pro tip - there's a small exit to Willingdon from the inside of the mall, right next to this place. The interior is white and bright orange. Nice and cheerful. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is honestly a bit on the pricey side. As of the time of writing, dishes start at $18 or so. The one thing I really didn't like though is that the bowl sizes are misleading. They are wide, but very shallow. See photo for reference. I'm not sure the soup was even 3cm deep. Knock 1 star off. Because of the shallowness of the dishes, my buddy and I ended up loading up on white rice. There wasn't even enough soup to cover the refills. I can feel immense sadness writing this review. With that said, the wall of rice cookers is pretty impressive. I don't think I've eaten this much rice in one setting in years. The rice is all self serve, with communal paddles. Something to keep in mind. Thank goodness the pandemic is somewhat over. As for the taste, the soup has a nice heat from the peppers. The spice isn't the type that melts one's face off. To be honest, I have trouble justifying a return visit. I can get more soup and food for 40% less money at Yunshang in the same mall. Oh well. Off the bucket list.

I'm always amazed how many different unique Chinese cuisines are branching over to the western world. Fish With You is no exception. Serving Sauerkraut Fish stew, seems to be the newest trend on the west coast. The restaurant is located in Crystal Mall, but the entrance into it is outside the mall. The interior is bright and clean. Once you're seated they have a QR code on the tables to order from. But they also have plastic menus if you have questions or rather have someone to take your order. There are 4 main soup/strew bases to choose from: Green Pepper, Hot Onion Oil, Princess Tomato and Laotan. You can have it with either Snake Head Fish or Basa. You also get to choose 2 items to go along inside your strew such as; tofu, enoki mushroom, sweet potato noodles, broccoli, wood ear mushrooms, baby choy or lettuce. Not into fish? No worries. They also have a small selection of Beef Stews. And if that is not in your wheel house then chick out the snacks like the popcorn chicken, fried tofu bites, shredded potato salad, deep fried buns with condensed milk or the glutenous rice cake with brown sugar. One of the drawing features is the fact that you can ask for more rice. Yes, its UNLIMITED rice! Whether you're by yourself or with a family, they order a set that fits your appetite and budget best. Smaller portions will run you about $17.95 where a larger portion will cost $29.95. Honestly its a lot of food. But if you're looking for variety do get the Combo for 2 ($49.95). It comes with either popcorn chicken or fried pork, 2 drinks and unlimited rice. This combo could easily feed 3-4 people pending on how hungry you are. My fam and I ordered 2 of the Combo for 2, with both the fried pork and popcorn chicken (both excellent by the way), with the Princess Tomato soup and the Hot Onion Oil Snake Head. We got to try all the drinks: Wheat Flavoured Milk Tea, Iced Lemon Tea, Orange Fruit Tea and the Passion Fruit tea. All of them were great and refreshing. Out of the two stew we got my preference was the Hot Onion Oil. The flavour was great and over rice it was the perfect combo. The fish slices were thin and tender with no bones (bonus!). But be warned that they do put that wonderful numbing spice in it. If you're not a fan just be mindful and don't be surprised if your tongue feels weird. Overall the meal was great and we got leftovers! If your looking for something new definitely want to be full come check out Fish With You 鱼你在一起 !

Love this place! Great value, yummy flavours. I went on a Saturday around 11am, only 2 other tables there. Spacious and clean interior, I like the bright orange and grey scheme. The rice is UNLIMITED AND FREE (self serve), but the waiters were very attentive and got us rice, and refilled our tea. If there's a little wooden fish on top of the rice cooker, it means it's still cooking so don't use these ones. The free tea is quite good too. Located on the outside of Crystal Mall (it's not in the food court). Got a small 'Laotan Snakehead Fish' soup ($21.95) for lunch to share between mum and I. It comes with two toppings, and I picked black woodear mushroom and enoki mushrooms (some other options are beancurd sheets cabbage, tofu, vermicelli, broccoli and lettuce). Spice level was one spicy chili on the menu, and it had a strong kick. I think this was the sweet spot for me, and I can't do any spicier (for reference I love shin ramen, it's perfect, and I can eat a tad spicier than that too). It had up to 4 spicy chili indictors, and I think I'd start crying at that point. It's topped with peppercorn Pretty impressed with the portions, lots of soup, with very fragrant oil & chilies on top. Large chunks of tender fish, and loads of sauerkraut. Good portion of the toppings too. I'd love to get a large portion to-go next time, so I can use the flavourful leftover soup and make some noodles for an extra meal at home.

The Laotan Snakehead fish is amazing! We had it with sweet potato noodles, bean curd, enoki mushroom. You can definitely share the L with four people! It was huge! I shared the combo with my friend and we were able to save it for another meal! PS: don't bite into the round peppers! And you will be fine Tbh the popcorn chicken and drinks were just ok... I left my waterbottle there and the server kept it for me for two daysbest service!

Peking Duck course was fantastic. Food was more than enough for 4 people. Duck lettuce wrap was fantastic we couldn't finish all of it. Hot and Sour Soup was rather sour than spicy. It was not the best, but tasted alright though. My parents would've liked the soup to be a bit spicy. Sliced pork with garlic was good. Deluxe Fried Rice was fresh and tasty. The food is typical mid end banquet style, but the flavours are good, and the value is there. Lettuce wrap - standard restaurant fare. Decent quality. Fried green bean - nice and spicy, thanks to the house chili sauce. They can tune the spiciness on this one. Default is on the spicier side. Tasty. Shanghai fried noodles - standard restaurant fare. Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.
