Dont know if price was good, because we didnt shop around. But about $150 for 50lbs of various species packed and labelled in a bunch of packages for splitting amongst the 3 of us. We did fillet them ourselves, but that price also included a 50lb and a 30lb insulated box. Some of the kids were pretty stupid and the main guy was a dick at first but then he got super nice and turned out to be actually pretty cool. I waver between a one star and two. Me and a couple of friends booked a charter through this company. When I looked up the name of the boat it was listed under Valdez Outfitters so I added this review to that site. So a couple of friends and I booked a charter through Fish Central for a day of salmon fishing. We paid the $250 the morning of and got to the boat 15 minutes before we set off. So, there were a total 6 of people on the boat and the captain said we'll have 4 poles in the water and we'll rotate when we catch fish. I thought that was odd since I expected to have a pole in the water the entire time, hence booking a charter as I don't have a boat. So, the captain kept yelling about hating salmon fishing and zipping around the bay. I was like maybe we can just stay put for a bit and he was like, I'm the expert. Okay, but can you please be positive? Saying you hate salmon fishing sucks for me because that's what I'm here to do. So, I caught a silver and was informed that I couldn't land another until everyone has one, and that if I hooked a fish in the interim I had to pass the pole off to someone else so they can land it. That didn't sit well with me, but I didn't make too much fuss because I didn't want to cause trouble for my friends. Long story short I only was able to catch that one silver and even though I stayed out the entire time and got hits the people that landed pinks were able to keep fishing because they didn't land a silver. I thought that was bs since they actually caught a fish, it just wasn't what they wanted. I won't recommend this company, or Fish Central because they set this company up for this crappy charter for us. If you check out Valdez Outfitters website it looks like everyone struck the motherload, but me and my crew definitely did not. read more

Fish Central

This place offers boat rentals. The people at the desk were either bored out of their mind or just apathetic individuals. They were reluctant to offer any detailed help in choosing tackle or where to find fish. This had to be the worst silver salmon fishing season in many years. Very few boats landed any fish at all. All we caught were a few small fish. Really a bad day of fishing and for Valdez residents an entire bad season of fishing. I may be back again but will make sure that there is a good run of fish before I come. First time ever I had an Alaskan fishing experience that was this bad. read more

I have always had good luck with Fish Central. Once, however, my fish captain's boat was still in maintenance the day of my fishing. They rebooked me with another boat and I had a great day. Haven't experienced the bad counter help others have. Haven't had a bad fishing day. Its not Fish Central's fault if the fishing (or the captain) is lousy. They booked us on a halibut charter on the Chinook. It was horrible. We did not go out to the Gulf as was advertised. We fished in the sound. There were 5 of us. They only put out 3 halibut poles and the rest were salmon poles. The only halibut caught was about 12" long. The only other fish caught were 3 rock fish. The captain indicated that the do as well as others and it was just a bad day. When we got back there were others cleaning halibut on the dock. Never again!!! 2012 silver salmon fishing season in valdez was horrible, hours of fishing with only a handfull of fish between a few friends some days in the pouring rain. The fish i did catch was packed and flash frozen by the crew at Fish Central. Even the fish i have from 2011 is still in great shape! Prices were reasonable and was a clean place. Looking forward to seeing summer, fish, and fellow fisherman again in 2013. Have a safe winter everyone. read more
