DELICIOUS! WOW! Who knew some of the best freshest food was here in such a remote location? The ambiance couldn't be better. Its secluded on the outer Hebrides of Scotland. As you walk in you are greeted to freshly made bakery, rolls and bread. They have a hot stand which keeps bacon rolls and many pasties warm. They also have a large range of sandwiches and salads. Usual groceries fresh vegetable, meat, tinned goods, frozen items are found here as well. It can get very busy and at times the queues can be known to go far along the aisles, but they move relatively fast. A very handy shop to have as the supermarkets are located out of the town centre.

The veggie haggis is vegetarian and, if the butter sauce is omitted, it appears that it can be made vegan (butter sauce is egg-free). The porridge appears to be vegan by default, and the soup of the day for today sounded like it was also vegan or at least vegetarian (vegetables and coconut). The burgers and rolls are meant to be eaten there, and are handed to you partially wrapped in a napkin and a small paper bag that you could open and put the burger in if you needed to transport it, but it is just paper and the grease/oil would eventually make it's way through. Lunchtimes can be very busy and occasionally tables aren't available. The food is always great with a large selection of soups, sandwiches, salads, teas etc. They also have a small gift shop with crafts from locals. After you eat it's great to go for a walk along the grounds and up to the Castle. The views of Stornoway from up there are beautiful.
