What a wonderful breakfast ~ I decided to go savory today and I had the most yummy Short Rib Hash with sweet tea~Amazeballs! We tried "Million Dollar Bacon" which was pretty dang tasty so....we had to order a second plate! The lack of communication between the staff is costing your establishment customers and repeat business. I use to bartend , so when I asked specifics about my bloody mary, danielle gave me the true answers. She explained flavors and was patient with me. This space is huge. Amazing. This is not the first watch you might know. The food was borderline acceptable. Portion size was small. The real issue is how dirty the table was, how dirty the plates and glasses were, and how dirty the bathroom was. In the age of "over-the-top" covid clean, you would think that more attention to detail would be made. The bus boy cleaned one area but shoved the dirty dishes over to the previously wiped clean area. Basically getting the last groups germs spread back onto the table. Will not be back. The Pumpkin pancake was everything I would want a pumpkin pancake to be - sweet, great pumpkin flavor, but not overbearing and not too thick. We got on the list for a 40 minute wait when We were still about 30 minutes from the restaurant. My friends and I arrived and were told that it would be a 40-minute wait. After 40 minutes we were told 15 more. 20 minutes after that we were "literally next." We waited an hour and 55 total for the table and another 15 for our order to be taken. The food was fine. Love eating here! You do have to make some special requests to ensure a great experience though. For example; today I had the Modern Croque Madame. A Croque Madame is basically a Ham and Cheese on toast, topped with béchamel and a fried egg. FW's Modern version includes a tomato slice and replaces the ham with bacon and the béchamel with Alfredo Sauce/Parmesan Cream Sauce (Web menu v physical menu respectively). Ask for the sauce on the side. They don't put much on so it's better to take control of the placement. The egg comes sunny side up, but ask for over-medium. FW is notorious for undercooking sunny side up eggs. The white is still a little (sorry for this) snotty around the yolk. Over Medium will get you a yolk that's still runny, but the white will be completely set. You can nit pick any place, so don't misunderstand; First Watch is still one of my top breakfast/brunch/lunch places and I'll defiantly return. Just be clear about what you want and they'll make sure you get it. While I've got your attention, I've got a message to other users: When posting pictures, PLEASE put a caption! We got seated pretty quickly because it wasn't too busy. Whenever we sat down we noticed there were lipstick stains on our mugs and our silverware was dirty as well. We told our server and she gave us new silverware and new mugs but again the silverware she brought my aunt was still dirty so she went back to get new ones and when she brought those back she had my aunt check them and they were fine. When my table became ready I was informed by the hostess that the bar seat where I was already sitting would be my table which made me chuckle. It took another 45 minutes to receive my order which consisted of eggs, ham, potatoes and toast. When the server brought my plate she handed it to me rather than set it on the counter in order to clear the coffee and water dispensers on the table. The plate was piping hot and burned two of my fingers which almost caused me to drop it which she didn't even acknowledge. The food was fine but not worth the wait or the poor experience that I had to endure for it. The staff didn't seem to demonstrate any sense of urgency or concern for the customers despite the obvious frustration on the faces of many. Also, staffing one hostess to intake customers and process checks for those attempting to leave simultaneously results in chaos at the front door. Skip this place. I can't rate the food or drink, nor can I rate the service, but after waiting for over an hour just to be able to get a seat and try this breakfast place out. Well, not too fun to wait and wait and wait. To be fair, should have called and asked about reservations, but when you are told 15-20 min and you wait over 60, that is a foul. Obviously this place must have some appeal as it was jam packed. People waiting inside and outside of the restaurant. So, cautionary tale, if you are hungry and are counting on First Watch as a place to eat, then call / plan ahead. I was very hungry and willing to wait, but today was ridiculous! Again, to be fair, not sure if it was a throughput / management issue, staffing issue, or if it was just super crowded and beyond the staff's scope. Bottom line: I would rather be told 60 min wait and get served early (if I stayed, which I wouldn't have), then to be told 20 min and have to wait over 60.
