About 1 year ago I had got into an accident without coverage. I was refered here by my mobile…read moremechanic. Interesting to still have issues. Brought my vehicle to be inspected because I've felt every shift. I still do to thus day. When I brought it in to be looked into, but next morning received a phone call that it was ready. The guy said nothing was wrong. When the codes came back that I needed a new crank shaft sensor and a battery current sensor, I was told I must fix these first to fix the transmission. They were confident and set on that. Now im not a mechanic and completely understand the complexity of transmission rebuild. Lots of parts. Ive had my own scan tool to read codes for three years now. A battery change or disconnect after letting power drain for 30 minutes will stall the car on first start as expected. Which will also include codes that go away after the second start up. Crankshaft sensor being one of them. Not my first vehicle that ive had this experience. As for the battery current sensor? I had a bad connection. Cleaned it up and havent had any issues with electrical since then. I have 0 codes and do preventable maintenance as should. As for the transmission? Still the same. I eventually got it back to normal by bringing to another shop after MANY hours of research of houstons transmission shops. Found one that had it fixed in 3 days. When I got it back they were confused on why the previous mechanic repaired it the way he did. It feels brand new as if I just bought it. Now, before you change your choice of which shop to allow repairs, which I believe you should, let me briefly explain in a way that might fit your position. If not, keep shopping. Not ever vehicle comes in this shop will leave with issues still remaining. Everyone has a different experience. My car is on the newer side. The mechanic industry is constantly changing. Many brands are changing the way they do things and its the mechanics job to keep up with it. $2800 for the cost of repair. They tow your vehicle for free from where ever your are located in the houston area. If you are struggling to get by, the shop offers payment plans and you can get you car back. You must sign a mechanic(Garage) lien for assurance that they will get paid or they WILL take back the vehicle. I give the shop 3 stars simply because it allowed me to get back on the road and to school to rebuild funds. Because of their work, I graduate HVAC-R in 3 weeks of a year program as well as got my transmission fixed. Now in a completely different financial situation than I was a year ago. Not every shop will offer a lien on your vehicle. Actually, a lot of them that i was interested in did not. If your in a bad spot then i would recommend the shop, but not without knowing possible outcomes. Everyone wont have the same experience. Be smart. Do your own due diligence. Buy a cheap code reader. Drive safe. Thank you transmission experts for the learning experience and getting back on the road to finish school and find a better job to continue my path. Minus the pros and cons of my experience, I would not be in the spot I am now if I didnt choose this shop. For two weeks, I researched and interviewed over 10 transmission shops before I eventually selected A-1 Transmission. My criteria for selection included: Past customer reviews, length of warranty - time and miles, who performed the actual work - employee or business owner who guarantees the work, customer care skills and how did they make me feel when I met with them. A-1 Transmission owner "John" was able to satisfy all of these requirements for me. I took my truck to the shop and two days later the owner "John" called and asked me to come over.When I arrived my transmission was on a table and completely taken apart. John showed me exactly what my problem was and asked me to feel and rub parts to understand where certain areas had unusual or inappropriate wear. I thought I would wait a month before posting my review. A month has passed and I have driven to Austin, TX twice. My 04 F-150 truck has performed flawlessly. I'm now comfortable enough to report that I'm extremely happy with the repair. That said, I also have the confidence of a written warranty for 24,000 miles or 2 years. The experience from start to finish was very pleasant. I highly recommend A-1 transmission. And while I hope never to have to rebuild or repair another transmission, if I do, I will most assuredly return to A-1 Transmission.

Over multiple visits, I was charged several thousand dollars for diagnostics and repairs, including an ECM replacement, fuel system work, and additional services. Despite these extensive and costly repairs, my vehicle issue was never resolved. What is most frustrating is the pattern of misdiagnosis. Each visit resulted in a new recommendation without a clear or confirmed root cause. After being told the issue was the fuel pump, I approved the repair based on the assurance that if it was not the cause, I would not be charged. However, I was still charged, and the problem remained. The vehicle was also kept for over a month without resolution. When it was finally returned, it was in worse condition: Fuel level had dropped significantly (approximately half a tank, about 200 miles of usage) Physical damage was present, including issues around the door area and battery cover Components appeared to be left open or improperly reassembled A new "low battery" warning appeared that was not present before service I was later informed that the vehicle had been modified to bypass issues related to the BCM instead of properly diagnosing and repairing the root problem.
