Jane will smile & put on the act to get you in the door. What she says about you behind your back is what you need to watch out for. Some of the parents, like me, have text circles with some of her staff and knows what is said. Jane doesn't want special needs children at First School & that's quite apparent. She has her favorite employees & those she treats badly. My advice to any parents that have children who go here is to ask other parents about their experiences. Those who state that they have had little to no bad experiences are the parents who are afraid to speak up or get treated preferred treatment by the staff that Jane favors. read more

As a disability advocate I have spoken to the director/owner multiple times about a 3 year old disabled child. The lack of knowledge and common sense in caring for children with special needs is alarming. From lack of respect for the parent who received almost daily phone calls or texts regarding their ability to care for the child to then change their attitude when Dad picked child up to openly admitting they barricaded ( surrounded student on all sides) the child at nap time is what this family experienced. The receptionist and owner yelled at parent and myself for asking questions when once again notified the teacher doesn't want the disabled student in her room. The owner stated she didn't want to lose staff so the child has to go. This 3 year old was not a behavior problem , however is non verbal and needed extra assistance in some areas. I do not recommend this daycare at all for disabled children and question their honesty and ability to operate a safe and respectful facility. read more

I have been in childcare for 10+ years. I thought I had experienced it all until I took my kids here. As previous reviews have stated they are unwilling to work with kids who have any sort of issues. I was called the first day after putting my kids in there about my son having a rough transition. Mind you he just turned three & is not completely used to pre-k in general yet. I could tell from day one my kid was going to be targeted. On day four I was called in on my lunch break to have a meeting about my child. They had taken notes from the second he got into the room. The director sat there with a snarky look on her face the entire time and literally said "if the kids miss their other school then maybe you should take them back there. It might not be the most convenient for you but it's what's best for the kids." I live in Mahomet, work in Mahomet and do my best as a single parent household. I was literally in shock. They use Montessori as an excuse for there actions. When I toured I asked about Montessori and I was told they were only kind of like that. I don't know what they are. What I do know is that I am now left without childcare in the small town of Mahomet that doesn't have many options and no back up plan. They need to advertise their strict behavioral environment and make it known they are not willing to work with kids. I would have never wasted my time there. I will add that they refused to give me access to the building the same day they reluctantly gave me back their part of my CCRS papers to turn in. I've been sending my children to First School since January 2013. I put a lot of research into which child care facility I wanted my children to attend. I loved First School for many reasons. The top ones were the caring and friendly environment and the amount of safety precautions the have in place to keep our children free of harm. Upon entering the building, you scan your thumbprint. If you are not authorized to pick up a child, you do not enter the building. I love that considering all the creeps (for lack of better terms) that are in this world today. Before my children began going to school at First School, my oldest child barely knew her alphabet. Now, in the 5 months that she's been attending, she's almost reading. She knows every alpha-sound. Just has trouble putting the sounds together to form words but she's getting it! My youngest, before attending First School, had a definite speech delay. Now, she's talking up a storm and has a vocabulary of ATLEAST 400 words. I would definitely recommend atleast going to tour the school. Not only do I love this school, my children do too. They look forward to going to school each day and as a parent, that's a great feeling! read more
