All of the church members were super friendly--hugging and welcoming us to the church. They give newcomers a cute black mug with the church name on it, and some information on the church. The pastor and the pastor's wife were nice people and the pastor preached good. He always related to everyday life to clarify the sermon. The church is fairly small, and not really a mega-church which is always a good thing because you always know where the tithes and offerings are not just going into their pockets. I'm not sure if that was Baptist, or COGIC. I don't think it was COGIC because some people were wearing jeans and pants. I might of just been Christian church. Will I recommend this place? Yes Will I be back? Possibly

If you're comfortable with dancing during the service and the occasional evangelical hand-raise, then this place is for you. My family is politically progressive, but we're highly conservative in our worship style preferences. Even the traditional service uses PowerPoint and there isn't a children's church/message unless you're willing to go to the contemporary service. Because we're not keen on a rock band during our worship, and we want our pre-k kids to go to children's church, CLPC doesn't appear to be the best fit for us in the Clear Lake area. I'd change my review if they were more welcoming to young families' needs during the traditional service.

The church seems pretty cool and laid back. The preacher is not really a preacher. He's more of a teacher because even though he says the sermon will be on 2 king chapter 6, he didn't actually read the Bible, he just paraphrase in his own words with ( I guess ) what the chapter says..which is not really something a preacher should do that's why he's more of a teacher than a preacher IMO. And since he was paraphrasing in his own opinion about the chapter of the Bible, it was all a bunch of word salad about faith. Sounded wise but didn't really understand what he was saying. Of course the tithing giving financially was a big big deal. I don't tithe and dont get financially. It is not for new testament church. Well, overall, yeah, it's a pretty cool church.
