I have been a member of this credit union for years and have secured more than one loan. When experiencing difficulty in getting answers, I met Kim Savary, Senior Collections, who took time to explain my situation, returned a number of emails with answers to questions I had, she also sympathized with my difficulties and stayed (worked) with me, and guided me through to a satisfactory conclusion. Ive been a member of this Credit Union. for more than 60 years. Ive taken loans for babies, cars, houses, personal expenses. Ive had many many great experiences with this credit union and met so many great people. But today? Not so much. FCCU has so many minimally trained persons in their offices. Some not trained in a proper customer service ATTITUDE, some just not trained in their policies and procedures. A lot not trained in the use of the computer applications. A number of employees Ive met have great attitudes but dont have the detail experience to successfully service your needs. The website they give you to do your business on is pretty good but Ive found dead ends and things that dont work. I love this organization but If asked to recommend FCCU, I would be hesitant. I wonder if it is time to exit an organization Ive been with since 1966. I ponder that decision. Member Service and Customer Service are very rude and un-intelligent, they gave me lots of false information. They told me that for the first several payments I have to pay interest only on a new auto loan and nothing goes towards principal, which is normal. They then transferred me to collections, and collections told me, "You only speak to us on late payments." My account had never been late. I explained again I'm calling about interest and principal payments and where the money gets allocated to. read more

First commerce financed a vehicle I purchased in 2022. in September 24 I lost said vehicle to hurricane Helene ( total loss ) I've not been able to speak with someone that actually works within "said bank" only a call center. Each call i made to check status/ask for a specific number to said department (ins dept) NO RESPONSE I've waited 7months for the GAP to pay remainder of loan with no help in advocating for me, THE CUSTOMER ! I've been 'banking' with FCCU for more than a decade, but I am done! Unprofessional & uncaring staff. I tried to help my son get his second auto loan through them. He admittedly did not have a great payment with them on the first vehicle, but it was not repossessed and was paid off. They would not approve a second loan application even after I offered them a 10k down payment. Campus USA gladly accepted his loan application and he is paying off their loan this month. You can only see someone timely there if you schedule an appointment in advance. I just schedule 2 Zelle payments. Found out the second person doesn't use Zelle. It has cost me another $10 to cancel the payment. I own a small local business. FCCU has requested estimates from me for work, but never 'pulled the trigger'. No longer provide notary for members, which was a change made in the past year, unless it pertains to financial documents or school-related documents, even if it is for a missed check from a government agency that requires a notary for proof of identity. Will drop your mobile deposit function on the app if you drop below a yearly average of $300 in your balance, which only happened in the 2 months of this new year for me. The app will not tell you this and will display an infinite loading screen. You have to call them to know you are not worthy of their elitist services. You instead have to go to a physical branch to deposit checks. The reasoning behind these changes is vague, unknown (I can only guess they're not making enough money) and they obviously will cut out services to their members with little consideration of the people they represent. One of the reasons I chose this bank is because of the location and the fact that they had zelle, February of this year I changed my phone company from Verizon to AT&t got a new phone number and this is where the problem begins ,my Zelle stopped working I must have called customer service about 10 times and every time I call they would give me the runaround I finally requested to speak to a supervisor they connected me to Jason,and every time I called this guy he would tell me he was working on my account as we speak with some of the best technicians in the business, it's been over a month and they still can't get my Zelle account up and running, I guess all the technicians still can't figure out a way to fix my account at one point he said he deposited $200 to compensate me for the problems that it has caused me only to have him withdraw it the next day saying the Deposit was a mistake.. stay away from these amateurs at all costs now I'm going to have to find a new bank to get my direct deposit read more

The ATM in the drive thru took my cash deposit and then went out of service. I go inside to do a dispute and am told that it will be resolved in a few business days. Fast forward 2 and half weeks later, I confront them, and they tell me that they will push it through and it should post tonight. I asked if I didn't come inside would they have resolved it. I was told no, not unless the banker would've noticed. Thankfully this isn't my primary bank, so I gave them 2 stars. 1 additional star being able to provide the basic function of allowing me to deposit.... until 2 weeks ago. read more

I moved away from Tallahassee and because their debit card isn't the best experience with online shopping, I decided to switch to a bank in my new area. After not using the account, it was closed, which I understand, but now I need access to my financial records, and want to charge me $25 per hour or $10 per statement for an account that they closed. SMH. By far the worst experience I've ever had dealing with a financial institution. It was decent while I was in Tallahassee but if you move away, download your statements and save them to a UBS because they will charge you for this basic information. read more

I have been banking with First Commerce Credit Union for many years and I had been well satisfied until October - November 2022. I am sadden by the fact that Cash App has stolen $1600 from my checking account, the First Commerce Credit Union replace the money but, now they have taken my money back, saying, "cash app" stated that the IP address used matches my information. Therefore, First Commerce Credit Union is honoring what cash app technician provided to them. This is fraudulent activity and I have no recourse. First Commerce Credit Union is responsible for protecting my monies but, they failed. Therefore, I sincerely do not recommend this bank to anyone. I have been banking with FCCU for 10 years . I like that they have so many locations around town another thing I like is the ease of use with their mobile app. They also have a program called even up which will take some change from your purchases and even ups to the nearest 100th on the dollar. That money immediately goes into your savings. As someone who was bad at saving this was a blessing. Their customer service Varys branch to branch but so far they have treated me well. Only complaint is their debit cards suck as far as the chip going out and needing to replace your debit card every three months. read more

I am a current member (not for long). My husband was a member in 2004, back then customer service was great, they would go above and beyond for you. We absolutely loved this credit union. I became a member in 2017, after we left and came back to Tallahassee, and what a difference. Customer service is terrible. It takes them so long to fix anything or get back to you. I applied for a car loan a week ago, kept checking my status, it was pending forever, called and left a message. A week later after we already purchased a car and financed it through different lender they called me back and want to go over my application. I also had a problem with my on-line banking. It took them two week to fix it. One time when I went to one of their branches to open another bank account, they gave me a folder with confidential information that belongs to someone else (their name, address, SSN everything). And when I called and ask for help with refinancing my house, that has a lot of equity btw, I was told to work on my credit and call them back. Why? There rates even not that great. So you decide for yourself if you want to be their member. read more

This credit union makes it impossible to make transactions online after you've moved away from the area. Everything requires a paper notarized letter which is a very outdated form of handling business. The hold times on the phone are very long and the reps are very rude and unhelpful. They often tell you things the contradict what the last rep told you. Messages online go unanswered. This is by far the worst financial institution I have ever worked with. read more

First off I have been a member for over 10 yrs, always in good standing. My checking account was hacked so I had to shut it entirely down and reopen a new account. I called the bank once I realized I had not updated my direct deposit for my payroll check and it had already been sent to the shut down account. I was told per the representative "By Law" we can no longer do this. I asked "What law?" She put me on hold for sometime and then returned to say they just can transfer my payroll check that has been direct deposited to a closed account. Never explained the law she spoke of. I tell you I have had it direct deposited for the past 6 yrs, they can see this. So then tells me that once the deposit date, today, comes it will be rejected and sent back to my employer within minutes (12a). Called FCCU this am due to my employer can not re deposit my payroll check until the one at the bank is rejected and the deposit still had not been returned to my employer. I inquired about the law the lady on Wed spoke of he told me I must have heard her wrong, I told him no I didn't I asked several times. Well it is a new policy he says not a dang law. I knew better. Now I am told it can take up to 3-4 bus days for my employer to see the rejection and it is not immediate as I was told on Wed. I got really upset asking why cant they assist me knowing it was my payroll check and I was told no several times, sorry but we can not help you. I tried to explain to him that I had been told something totally different on Wed. he stated no I had not. Then I began to get really angry and screamed I am done with you. I have never in my life been treated in such a way as today. I will be finding another bank sooner than later. If you call with questions your told several different versions and none are the same. FCCU has gone down hill the past several years and needs to get a grip on how they employees are speaking to the members. read more

My wife and I moved to town a few years back and went with First Commerce due to branch location. However, right away my wife noticed that they were not focused on customer service. We were used to great customer service at a credit union in Iowa (Veridian), so we know what good customer service looks like. First Commerce doesn't have it. They are the credit union that tries to be a bank. In the process, they have forgotten the "union" members of their credit union. 1. They refused to give my wife a credit union ID card for doing transactions. She asked why and they mentioned the costs (a lie). Then she looked around at the half dozen or so wide screen TVs they have plastered all over the credit union and wondered, "hmmm, they can afford all these TVs but they can't print me an ID card?" 2. They make you fill out useless transfer and deposit slips. Other credit unions (my old one in Iowa as well as First Florida here in Tallahassee) do not require this. This is very poor customer service. Why should I be required to fill out a deposit slip when depositing money when I can just present my ID card and tell them where I want it? Even withdrawals can be electronically signed at the teller window. 3. They don't have that great of hours. They are often closed on Friday's before a holiday so you can't get at a teller window for over 3 days, while other credit unions in the area are still open. I think this may be a cost savings measure to pay for all of their TVs. LOL. Bad priorities. 4. Their online banking systems are not very user friendly. I'm a web designer and know a lot about usability. Their systems feel and work like a collection of utilities that have been patched together. I am constantly hunting for where to do things, which is not the case with First Florida or Veridian (Iowa). Their pop money system is a joke. 5. They don't offer free member to member transfers unless you call them. I have a son in college and do online transfers often to his account in the same credit union. They told me to use pop money, which charges me $0.75 for every transfer. That is completely ridiculous. No member should be charged for doing member to member transfers. I would highly recommend that you stay away from First Commerce. We went to First Florida instead, a much better experience. There are less TVs, but happier employees and customers. read more

The worst bank I've ever dealt with! The try their best to make you go into the negatives. Ive had them for about 6-8 months now and I've had to pay 400$ 2-3 times in negative fees. If you pay a credit card, it goes into what they call "a cloud" and it can take days before it is taken out. Even though on your credit card statement its paid. Which means its the bank. Then, of a restaurant or any place doesnt take out their money within (the bank says 4 days but really its within 24hrs) the money goes bank into your account without you realizing it. So if you didn't check your account balance within a day or 2, you wouldn't know. So you spend that money thinking you just have more in there than you thought ( because it doesn't show something was added back into your acct) then you get hit with it being taken out and a 32$ late fee. If you pay a bill first ( my was a phone bill 245$) and your bank said you had it and then some. So you spend more of your money because you know it's in there. Something happens where they will take out all the small things first, then the "phone bill" causing you to have multiple late fees. Then they will tell you thats how they see it on their screen, when you see it one your screen differently. All this was new to me and my other banks were different. There is more I can say, but the moral of the story is, avoid this bank! read more

This Bank will Not give me my Money of $900.00 that was in my Savings when my Account got Hacked.. My Account was over$2,000 dollars overdrawn from Spectrum Cable Company.. I have no Account with them.. but you had over 15 total bills overdrawn on my account and The bank didn't call or notify me! But when I come in the bank with $650.00 to deposit in my checking and savings the account was way overdrawn, and to this day they refund me about 1,200.. Mind , I was told by Donald one of the managers that I was Charged $367.00 for Overdraft Fees.. that I Never received.. it was just stolen out of my Saving account.. it was $900. that wasn't replaced.. 650.00 plus my 900.00 = 1500.. the copies they gave me is Not easy to read how I lost my hard earned money.. No one work their seem to can explain it to me... just looked on the account like it was something Terrible wrong.. and I went to get 50.00 for another overdrawn that had the Account negative they charge me to Close the Account down.. How are unprofessional this Bank .. it's Not fair and if it's Insured they didn't give me All my Money..they paid me 1,200. Like I didn't know how to Count and on the print out it showed I had $900 in Savings.. They should be Audited ...BBB. read more

Horrible Bank, I ended up with an account at this bank associated with an auto loan the final payment was $375.00 more than the loan balance so they stuck it in a member account. After a year they began taking $5 a month in inactivity fees . I was never notified of this policy and never received a statement or email informing me. In the end they ripped me off for $135.00 in inactivity fees that were never mentioned. I have closed the account and will never do business with them again. read more

I joined First Commerce Credit union in 2013, opening a checking account, savings account, and auto loan. It was intended to be my primary bank in Tallahassee and I loved the service and attention to detail that I received during the loan process. Shortly after opening the account, I moved to Austin, TX, for job reasons and worried about having a loan with a credit union that was not local to my new city. It's been over two years and I have barely noticed the distance. They are always on top of potentially fraudulent charges, which made me more aware of my odd spending habits. The holds we lifted within minutes of purchase verification - yes, I did spend a crazy amount of money on a textbook at the Boston University Bookstore. Today, I called Account Services to discuss payoff options for my car loan, as I'm looking to buy or lease a new car. I got an answer, but was a little unsure of myself and the next steps so I reached out to a contact who facilitated a conversation with Mel in Loan Services, she was awesome and answered all of my questions without making me feel like I was asking erroneous or irrelevant questions. It makes me very comfortable to know I can trust my finances with First Commerce, especially being 900 miles away. They've helped me purchase and payoff my first car and learn the ins and outs of finance firsthand along the way. read more

We give up. Having moved from an area where we absolutely loved our credit union, we were looking forward to establishing a relationship with a new credit union here in Tallahassee. Wow were we in for a surprise. First Commerce may say they are a credit union, but actions speak louder than words. You want to hold all checks for 2 weeks??? Seriously? Keep in mind that we established a Checking, Savings and Business account with this bank, have perfect credit history and a solid banking track record more than 30 years strong. Oh but it gets better. Get ready to get hit with fees that would make a bank embarrassed to dish up. Want help over the phone? Fees. Want help correcting errors they made (and there will be many!)? Fees. Please don't expect any of the services a regular credit union offers. Most today have inter credit union transfers which are provided for free. Not First Commerce. They don't have the service, but then can wire funds, with a 10 day wait, for a not so small convenience fee. The worst part however is their customer service. Now granted, we've only worked with the branch on Mahan Dr, but seeing they've remained consistently bad I can only surmise this is SOP for their bank. Seems they have been trained to say "NO" first and then eventually get around to actually listening to what you're asking, if forced. Can you make an adjustment to my account where they charged me a monthly fee on the account I signed up for that has no fees? "No". Wait, what? Did you say no? "Sorry sir. Is there anything else?" Wait, what? It actually took a senior manager (28 year old girl) to fix this issue, leaving me with a ticked off customer service rep who remarkably became even less helpful from that day forward. We gave up and finally dumped this bank two months ago. It took me this long to be able to write a review made up of something other than 7 paragraphs of swear words. Funny how We've been with FSU Credit Union now for 2 months and haven't had a single issue. Even the swelling on my face has gone down now that I'm not banging my head on the desk every day from dealing with First Commerce. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else unless of course you have too much money in your accounts and you'd like a chunk of it to go toward bank fees. read more

I have now spent TWO DAYS trying to get copies of our bank statements for the mortgage we are trying to obtain for a home purchase. They keep taking their online system down to "improve" it, only to have incomplete information available. We can't get e-statements, even though after multiple back and forth chat conversations, they tell us they are available. Finally got them to look with me while on the phone, and they admitted, OOPS, you're right, we're still working on the system (they've been working on the system for the 5 years we've been with them). I was told I need to speak with a branch banker, and have been on hold for TWENTY MINUTES WHILE I AM AT WORK, so I can request what I should be provided in the first place. Everyone at the branch is very nice, but I can't get in touch with them. I can only find a phone number for this automated nightmare. They keep saying they are experiencing heavier than normal call volume. So does everyone else. This is the new "excuse" for not providing service. read more

Customer service is terrible. Even the recording will hang up on you if you don't have your pin, and then just TRY to get a live person. The online system is ALWAYS DOWN and you cannot get any information about your account. It is ridiculous. I just spent 10 minutes on the phone with a recording, which hung up on me, called back, after 5 minutes I got a real person, who could tell me nothing because ONCE AGAIN, the system is DOWN!!! I have been a member at First Commerce Credit Union for almost 13 years. My family was put in a situation where our lives crossed with a bank employee who ended up making threats of physical harm as well as threats to access and utilize our personal information for purposes other than intended or allowed by the financial institution. I reported the incident to the institution and requested that I be notified if the employee had accessed/viewed my account after the altercation had taken place and therefore could potentially have all of my personal information. I explained that I wanted this information so that I could try and mitigate any potential threat to either my family physically or financially. The institution has refused to provide me with this information, stating that I do not have a right to know who has been accessing my account. They claim that any access of my account is "proprietary" and therefore none of my business. I didn't ask anything unreasonable. I didn't ask for them to admit she inappropriately accessed my account, nor tell me what "proprietary" top-secret reason she had to view it, just a simple yes or no. Now I am in the painstaking process of changing over 13 years of history at this institution and they have a "do what you have to do" attitude about losing my long-term membership. I would think twice about joining this credit union who cares more about skirting around potential liability in admitting that their employees may be engaging in inappropriate behavior and hiding behind access being "proprietary" instead of answering a simple question that will allow you to take steps to protect yourself if necessary...they have an obligation to keep your information safe and when merchants' systems have been hacked, you are notified by them, prior to there even being an issue of a breach with proactive steps that can be taken to safeguard your information; however one of their own threatens to access all of your infomation and they shut down, telling you that you don't have a right to this information and that there is no proof of any information being utilized inappropriately (I had no proof that my specific account information was stolen in the merchant breach, but they were still willing to do whatever necessary). DO NOT JOIN THIS CREDIT UNION!!! Let me explain what happened to me. I had two separate occasions where there were breaches on my account. They reissued me debit cards after each breach. Just two days ago I experienced making an in-app purchase that gave a reply that the purchase did not complete. So, you do it again only to get the same message. Well the 5 charges that were not supposed to go through did. First Commerce charged me $29.99 PER CHARGE. Two of the charges were from APPLE. I called them and they immediately issued the credits back to my account. One was $4.99 and one was around that same amount. I SAW THE CREDITS BACK IN MY ACCOUNT TWO DAYS AGO BUT FIRST COMMERCE REFUSES TO TAKE OFF THE 2 CHARGES OF $29.99!!! If a merchant has issued back credits meaning purchase was never made...tell me, how can you charge the customer when the $29.99 fee is associated with the charge. THEY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE I HAD TWO BREACHES ALREADY, THEY WILL NEVER FILE A CLAIM ON MY BEHALF AND THAT THEY WILL NOT ISSUE ME CREDITS AGAIN EVEN IF I AM ENTITLED TO THEM!! It's life, we don't know what we will face and how often. Imagine having a fractured bone more than one time and the doctors refuse to treat you the third time because HE OR SHE feels you have broken bones to often. These people need to be sued and investigated. Imagine taking something back to a major department store and they tell you that they are refunding all of your money except the tax! Why would you pay the tax if the purchase didn't happen. I think it's equivalent to FREE MONEY for FIRST COMMERCE!!!!! If they are doing things like this...who knows what they are capable of. Absolutely horrible customer service. Their website & mobile app constantly fails to work and whenever you try to call in, expect to listen to a recording on loop telling you how "committed" they are to help you... for ages. If you select a different department, say Paying Off a Debt, you can get a human to answer within 2 rings. However upon asking to be helped with accessing my account, yiou are transferred to the same recording. They're great if you want a company that will only talk to you when you owe them money. If you want to *access* your money, I strongly urge you to go somewhere else! read more

They have an app that's supposedly works 24 hours a day, but little did i know the app only worked once and the website is horrible as well. i feel like they robbed me over 2 pending transaction of less then a dollar and took 60 dollars from my account when my direct deposit of 1000 plus 30 minutes after the fact !
