first church has been a fantastic experience for me for the past 8 years that I've been coming to this church. I've met my now life long friends, my wife, and most importantly, a much deeper and meaningful relationship with my lord and savior, Jesus, at this church. The community is a 10/10 and the staff is some of the hardest working and kindest people I know. You won't find a more welcoming place in the country then first church. No matter what you believe, what you've done in the past, what opinions you might have, despite everything that you might tell yourself to try and convince you why you shouldn't go to church, This church will prove you wrong and show you how welcome you really are. read more

I grew up going to First Church and it has changed my life for the better! The Pastor's messages are relevant to today and are biblical. I have learned so much and have really deepened my faith here! The community is incredible and very welcoming. I have made many friends through their many life group options for different stages of life. I also enjoy the many volunteer and service opportunities I have been able to participate in through First Church. They have a great children's and youth programs! Highly recommend! read more

History

Established in 1893.

First Church was founded in DeMotte by several Dutch immigrants in 1893. It has experienced many different periods of growth and decline but is currently in a new stage of growth as it reaches people in Wheatfield, DeMotte, and all of Jasper County

Meet the Manager: Pastor John H.

John Hill is the Senior Pastor at First Church. He loves to laugh, enjoys good stand up comedy, as well as great burgers. He has 3 daughters and one son, and is married to Kristin. They met at church and it was love at first sight. She is an incredible woman who loves Jesus and His gospel. John is a firm believer that when we follow Jesus, the best is yet to come for us and that no matter where we are at in our lives, in Christ, we can live guilt free and grace full.
