The provider explained everything in plain English, and I left feeling much better than when I came in. It's hard to find people who genuinely care these days, but this urgent care reminded me that good customer service still exists. So in Nov 2025, I had my 3rd Medicare "Wellness visit" which had been scheduled a year prior. First of all, they call a week before my appointment to say my Doctor is on leave and out of the office until January. I asked how long has he been out and they said a "month." So you call me a week before to reschedule and I can't get in until February/March now to see my Doctor. They said well you could see the Physician's Assistant before then. So I took that appointment a week later. I completed all my paperwork answering all the "questions" that they ask each year and submitted online. The day of the appointment, I checked in and went to the lobby and they took me back within 5 minutes. The nurse took my stats asked me questions and then I waited for the "Nurse practitioner" for like 30+ minutes. She asked me a couple of questions, listened to my back and chest, felt my abdomen and looked in my ears. She did not even feel my feet or neck for any swelling or growths(at least my regular Doctor does that.) She asked me how many meals do you eat a day and did I need any medications refilled (which I did not need.) THAT WAS IT ! So then the nurse comes back in and says we need to ask you questions which were the questions that I had already answered with my "Online Check-in process." So the Physician assistant spent all of 15 minutes with me. I had learned from my "Wellness Visit" at ages 65 and 66 to NOT ask any questions because Charlotte Medical will charge you for another "office" visit and you will have to pay that charge. So I DID NOT ASK ANY QUESTIONS. So hear we are today, January 27 and Charlotte Medical Produces their Billing statement and I have a balance based on "Doctor's office visit, long." Yes Medicare covered the "Wellness Visit." So like I said before, I have learned to NOT ask questions during a "Medicare Wellness Visit." because just 1 question will cause Charlotte Medical to charge for an additional Office visit. I asked no questions and was charged for a "Long office visit." Are there any other patients encountering the same issues? I am cancelling my 2026 Wellness visit with Charlotte Medical and searching for a new provider. These visits are "Rip offs" for the patients. To be charged for an additional "office visit" and have a Physician Assistant perform the Wellness check and not even feel your neck or feet. Then have the nurse come back in and say we need to ask you these questions for which I had already completed and submitted online the night before. Enough is Enough. I just felt I needed to address this in a written review.

The surgery was a complete success, though…read moreI'm not sure how much of that is the credit of the hospital and how much is the surgeon who did the work. Hospital staff was good, but there were a couple things that need improvement. - The hospital asked us to be there at 11:30 for a 2:30 surgery time - three hours of sitting around and waiting made the patient so anxious that a sedative was required. - The pull cord for the light over the bed was broken - there was no way to turn off the light at night. I had to bring an eye mask. - The wifi wouldn't connect to the Internet. - The discharge process took four hours from the time the doctor told us that we'd be discharged until the discharge nurse arrived. And then another half hour of waiting for someone to "drive" the wheelchair to the lobby. Pluses Private room Internet, if it worked Good parking in the nearby deck Four stars. I hope we don't need to be back.

I recently had surgery to fuse my lower/lumbar spine. So I have first hand experience with this…read morefacility. The hospital is extremely well organized, well staffed and amazingly clean. They are not fooling around with making certain that infections do not happen in their facilities. They are continually cleaning, hand washing and gloving whenever they were around me. The patient attention was terrific with at least 30 people a day coming in to see me, cuff me, poke me, wash me, inject me and otherwise "care" for me. And that first day of consciousness from surgery the physical and occupational therapists were there, getting me out of bed, moving and teaching me how to walk and toilet myself given my now painfully healing back. I was in such pain, having my back opened and another on my side, so my "core" was always necessary to move and that was not fun. I appreciated the staff's attention to pain relief and keeping me comfortable. I cannot comment on the meals as I was restricted to a "clear" diet. All three meals consisted of a bowl of chicken broth, a cup of jello and a cup of apple juice. Oh boy! Upon discharge, the Novant Health System kicked in with home physical therapy and provision of a walker and elevated toilet seat. It was a good package which I am using now three weeks after the surgery. I cannot think of a better place to have critical surgery done. It is a orthopedic surgery hospital and that is only what they do. And they do it well. I would demand to go back to Presbyterian if I need further surgery.

I spent over a month trying to get answers about a prior authorization. During that time, I repeatedly followed up with the office and my insurance company, but I never received clear communication about what was happening. What was most frustrating was that I was told they were still waiting on insurance, yet when I switched to a different provider, the new office was able to submit a prior authorization and receive a determination very quickly. That left me questioning whether my case had been handled appropriately in the first place. The final phone call was what made me decide to leave the practice. When I called for an update, I was told that I was "the only one" having this issue and that everyone else was getting approved quickly. As a patient who had spent weeks trying to get answers, I found that response dismissive and unhelpful. Instead of feeling heard, I felt blamed for a situation that was already stressful. Patients dealing with insurance issues need communication, transparency, and follow-through. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I ultimately had to find another provider because I no longer felt confident that my concerns were being taken seriously. I hope the office improves its communication with patients, especially when prior authorizations and time-sensitive medications are involved.
