The demographics are diverse, but the largest group is families with young kids followed by older adults. There is a decent number of college adults that attend (mainly from LETU), but there are few people between college age and married with kids. The main pastor Jim Johnson is a great pastor thy brings in depth study of the word and is genuinely invested in the individuals if the church. The 65 and older group is a very cool group of people, you will find them in the lobby Sunday mornings, go introduce yourself to them, get a hug and a smile.

I absolutely LOVE this church. They are a gospel centered community and stand by their mission…read morestatement. It is a welcoming place, and it is easy to get plugged in. The church makes you feel desired! The church body is diligent in encouraging one another with what the Word says rather than opinion or cultural opinion. Worship? It is mixed with contemporary Christian music and older hymns, so in other words, it's awesome! You can still hear the church over the wonderful instruments and speakers. The praise is focused on God, never feeling like a performance. The teaching? So good! It is centered on the gospel. It teaches the beauty of grace- how grace saves and sustains. The sermons are from Scripture completely. You can count on Pastor Todd saying "flip to ___ in your bibles" within the first 5 minutes of the sermon. The sermons are brilliant AND easy to follow. All the praise is given to God. Prayer? It is emphasized at New Beginnings. There are prayers throughout the services and throughout the small groups. Specifically in small groups, prayer is held as very important. Prayer requests are said aloud, and boom, someone offers to lead the group in prayer for specific prayer requests. The church also hosts nights of prayer and worship monthly. I walked in to the church as a "cultural Christian," thinking I knew who God was. God used Pastor Todd and the college ministry to teach me the gospel and show me what a real relationship with God looks like. God is truly at work at NBBC. It's the real deal!!

For many people this church has left lasting emotional scars. The environment was very strict and…read morepunitive --children were physically disciplined by staff and subjected to harsh "lockdown" situations where students were isolated for long periods. There were also troubling rumors and behaviors that made the place feel unsafe and manipulative. Leadership seemed more focused on control and appearances than on compassion or genuine faith. This church has since changed its name, but please research carefully before getting involved. I would strongly encourage parents to look elsewhere for a healthy, nurturing spiritual community.
