First: I'm a member of Southern Gateway Chorus, so you should read my review with that…read moreunderstanding. Second: I'm reviewing the member's experience of Southern Gateway. We have thousands of audience members who can review our performances. I joined SGC in 2008, because I wanted a secular place to sing. It's hard to imagine a more welcoming experience. I was encouraged to sing with the chorus at the first rehearsal I attended. They gave me an audition song to learn. My audition was sung in a quartet with 3 other experienced singers. I passed. At my induction ceremony, the whole chorus came by to shake my hand. Southern Gateway is a real brotherhood. We work hard at perfecting our craft, for 3 hours every Tuesday night. After rehearsal we get together for hot dogs, chili and beer, and sing some more, mostly in quartets. We attend each other's weddings, and we sing at member's funerals. We have several father-son groups in the chorus, and we celebrate bringing friends to sing. We compete in our district, and most years at the BHS International competition. We put on two local shows per year (Spring and Holiday), and sing at various other shows around the region. At the holidays we sing at Saengerfest, at St. Francis Seraph in OTR. We give free concerts to support music programs in schools, and help to put on a summer camp for high-school singers. We only left because we moved to Cincinnati, and I genuinely miss this place. If I ever move back to Amelia or closer to the area, I'll send all of my future children here without hesitation! The Incredible Staff The entire team is fantastic, and my son absolutely adored them. Standouts: Danielle and Kasey are wonderful. Special Shoutouts: Michelle, Makayla (or Kayla?), and Jess--thank you all for being so amazing to him (and Jess is a total pro at distracting kiddos at drop-off so parents can slip out without tears!). Safety & Facility Security: The building is kept locked with a pin code that changes frequently, giving great peace of mind. Cleanliness: The facility always looks, smells, and stays exceptionally clean and tidy. Life Skills: They even teach the children how to clean up after themselves! Daily Routine & Updates App Tracking: They log all meals, potty breaks, diaper changes, and potty attempts thoroughly via an app. Photo Updates: You receive at least one photo a day. Seeing those pictures of him smiling genuinely made my workday--he was so happy there. (Note: There are no live-stream video feeds you can watch, but the facility is recorded for security.) Learning & Development When he started his new preschool in Cincinnati, the staff was genuinely shocked by what he already knew. He entered knowing his colors, his signs for colors, and most of his alphabet. I entirely credit Jelly Bean for giving him such a brilliant head start. They are a very customer service oriented company and do their best to make sure the customer is happy. My son got the extra instruction he needed and was successful in both Calculus II and Physics. The staff has changed through our time there but everyone was great! To name a few still there...Mandy as the director works hard and always a pleasure to work with! Maria, Courtney, Sammy, Mia, Abbi and Hannah all teachers that treated my kids as their own! Loved the preschool programs for my oldest she learned so much. My son in the infants even learned sign language! I liked that they had teacher conferences twice a year so you could have that one on one discussion on how they were doing. But the teachers were always available during drop off or pick up to discuss any recent questions as well. Summer program was fun with lots of outdoor playing, Kona ice visits, bike day and more! Other fun activities through the year with visits from the Florence Fire department, library, pj day, holiday parties and fun art work being sent home on the regular! Even art work from the Infants! We would still be at Cadance but with school starting for my oldest soon we moved to a place closer to our home. If you're considering Cadence look no further! Your children will be in great hands!
