Pastor Jason was down to earth, sincere about what he was teaching, lively and engaging but not over the top charismatic. We loved how he brought it all together at the end and gave people a chance to respond to God tugging on their heart. Everyone we crossed paths with, whether they were volunteers or church members, were very kind and welcoming. I think we found our church home. We are very much looking forward to next Sunday.

I could hear her voice in my ear every time. There is a new music ministry and I will be excited to see where it leads. I sure miss hearing Faron and Leslie and Chloe too! Both under the leadership of its former pastor, Steve Hammack, and its current pastor, Matt Tipton, this church has been a consistent gospel witness in our community. I have attended a number of churches from varying traditions and in different locations over the course of my life, and I can say without reservation that Anchor is one of the closest that I have found to what the New Testament model of a church was meant to be. I recommend Anchor to anyone who is looking for a fully engaged, kingdom-focused, family-oriented group of believers who are committed to following Christ and proclaiming the gospel message.

I thought that I had really found the church for me considering that I am alternative and have visible tattoos and piercings. The only big problem that I had was months later when my mother brought in my autistic nephew to Sunday school she was interrupted in the middle of the sermon and was forced to leave because of his condition. I felt that this was quite absurd. After the incident my mother Emailed both pastors about the encounter but her word fell on deaf ears fir she still has gotten no response. Just knowing that any church would so easily cast aside a child with a disability makes me sick. Would Christ cast him aside? If you do not have children with disabilities and you want a good church to go to, I would recommend Oasis, but if you find this at all disturbing, I would consider driving a little farther and finding a church that cares.

Non Orthodox Visitors: All are welcome to enter the church but only members can take communion. Dress code is strictly observed- long modest dress, covered hair and shoulders. Expect long intervals standing barefoot. Nothing is in English. Experience: I typically don't go to Ethiopian Orthodox Churches primarily because- lack of introductory material and indifference to visitors! On this occasion I came at the behest of my grandmother- for "Aster-eyo Mariam", a venerated holiday in the EO Church. Driving up to the gate, I was flagged by an attendant who directed me to drop off my grandmother at the church entrance and ushered me to a prime parking spot. This never happens! I took my shoes off & was given a plastic bag by another church attendant. Another connection! What followed; liturgy, teaching and congregation culture was like every other EO church in the U.S...EXCLUSIVE. Space: The interior is breathtaking. The walls plastered by iconography maintain the integrity of the traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox church. Most of the churches I have been to in the U.S. haven't fostered artwork like Mariam. Strangely, Instead of pews there are individual cushioned seats- the green seats clashed with the floors red rug. Space could fit around 300 easily. I wont be returning of my own volition. Had there been resources for visitors then perhaps. For now I will stick to forays at Greek churches.
