Came in for dinner on a Friday night. Sat at the bar, with no wait. Small wait for an inside table. Bartender was really nice to begin, but she got increasing agitated with the number of orders coming in as the evening ran on - I don't blame her, but she could've used some help manning the bar. Ordered the French dip sandwich, was pretty spot on. Roasted carrots took 40 minutes, but eventually did show up. Sipped on a strawberry mule. Beer selection looked good. read more

This bar is located in cool hipster neighborhood in Portland! The outdoor sitting is nice but we sat inside! I love Mezcal so as soon as I saw Desperado, I ordered. This Cocktail is very strong and spicy. The presentation comes with fire on which is very fun to watch. Love it! Oh goodness the food was outstanding. I had the chicken pot pie and it was great, though a pretty big serving to be considered a small plate. Easily the same size as my husband's entree of the ravioli with fire roasted tomatoes (careful it's spicy but delicious!) and so I ended up taking the rest home with me. Fireside for a mid week happy hour is a great choice! Their staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the allergens in their food. Speaking of the food, the smash burger is a perfect evening meal, and they have gluten free buns to go with it. They put a small v/gf next to titles on the menu so it's easy to navigate. We sat outside in their mini patio area, it was actually very nice and the street noise which is right next to you wasn't bothersome at all. read more

Made reservations here for our group of 13 and were seated as we all arrived which was nice. I really hate places that make you for the whole group to get there - this place did not do that and I was able to settle in and grab a drink while I waited. First I loved the atmosphere - so cozy with a great natural vibe and these lovely large open windows to do some great people watching on the street. If I lived in town I would come here often just to sit and have dinner by myself - so inviting. I opted for a seasonal drink and dish for dinner. I was strangely intrigued by the butternut squash and whiskey combo and hesitated for a bit, but our server insured me I would be surprised and indeed I was! Fascinating combo that they pulled off really well. So well I had two ;) I opted for a Cheese & Charcuterie Board to start and it hit the spot. For dinner I had the season pasta and brussels sprouts - so rich warming and filling. I loved every bite! (The lady at the table next to me recommended it to me as she loved it too) The brussels added some nice green texture to round it off. Over all this place hit every mark for me. My sister really enjoyed her French dip sandwich. Highly recommend warm marinated olives. Was a mix of savory and sweet olives, lovely surprise. My brother in law really enjoyed his steak. My husband ordered the Dick's burger with bacon added and he really enjoyed it, however if I would have ordered it, I would have been upset to find out the bacon has a really heavy Smokey flavor. I honestly don't recall what I had for dinner - I was more into my drink and my kick-ass company. So it didn't leave a big impression on me. I do recall our server was "meh" could take a lesson in customer service due to the lack of what I experienced. Consistently good food and service. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten here, and they have a perfect medium rare cook on their steak when I've had it added to a salad. Burger and fries also hit the spot. Love the ambiance and patio when the weather is nice. Didn't love the old fashioned my husband ordered on one visit, but I think it's the only miss. I have been looking for a modern restaurant/bar that has a cozy vibe, specifically, one with a fireplace. It's not easy, so when I came across pictures of this place, I wanted to try it. We've been to Portland multiple times and I always missed an opportunity to visit, until last night. We are in town to celebrate my wife's birthday, so I managed to get a reservation for 9:00 pm. When we arrived, we were immediately seated, and we got to sit right in front of their big fireplace near the entrance. This was the cozy vibe we were looking for. The music was upbeat but chill, and the service was great. The food menu was not big, but everything on it sounded good. We ordered some the cheese and charcuterie board, Brussels sprouts, half roasted chicken, ribeye kabobs, and the French dip. Everything was AMAZING. Very delicious. The charcuterie board had a great and tasteful variety, the chicken was very tender and juicy, the French dip was delightful, the kabobs grilled perfectly, and the Brussels sprouts.. OMG..bomb. So far, the best I've had in any restaurant. We also ordered their spiced Bundt cake and it was very yummy. What a great way to finish our meal. Honestly, one of my new favorite spots. The vibe was exactly what we had hoped for, the food exceed our expectations, and the service was great. Overall, a must-try and will continue to try. We sat at the bar after having a mosey wander in the Nobhill neighborhood. We were early enough that the brunch menu was available and late enough that lunch was served, too. Our bartender was personable without being hovering, with good recs. I got the rose bubbles, the house salad, and Mac and Cheese at her recommendation. I also added crab cakes. All were pretty great, and I shared the food with my husband. The rose was nice and crisp. The salad had a really great light vinaigrette and a nice mix of lettuces and watermelon radish. The crab cake didn't have a lot of filler and was perhaps my favorite part of the meal, and I especially loved the really excellent dill tartar sauce. The Mac and cheese was served in a mini cauldron, and it was maybe the one miss of our impromptu lunch. It was cavatapi with white cheese and just felt a little one dimensional - I've had better. All in all, though, it was a lovely meal in a fun neighborhood, and i would happily come back. read more
