I walked in and the only visible employee was outside putting a bike in a pickup truck. As it turns out it was another employees bike who stopped in her of day to do something and came out to find her bike missing. She was in tears as she thought someone stole it. They have fries for an upcharge. There were hardly enough fries to equal the chips, I would not pay an upcharge. When I got my sandwich it was not cut through. I tried to pull it but that ripped the whole sandwich where I needed a fork to eat it. This was the same young man that hid the bike. Receipt says Vincent. Once I finished cutting it he said if I brought it back he would have cut it for me. Maybe he doesn't know that is illegal in Florida. Food cannot go back across the counter. While I was eating. Same guy decides it is time to sweep the rug. He is sweeping right at my food. Firehouse is my favorite sub place but Nassau can't get a good one. But this guy should be fired. read more

No pics to share, but I will say that this is the best Firehouse I've ever eaten at. The young men that work here are super attentive and want to ensure your order is exactly the way you order it. We received our food in about 5 minutes, and it was as ordered and perfect. The store was clean and orderly. I hope these guys are recognized by their upper management, as they deserve it. We are on vacation here, and this is one of the best meals we've eaten on this trip. read more

I went into the store to pick up my online order. I thought I'd ordered two sandwiches, there was only one ready. So I walk up to the register to order a second sandwich. This man came out from the back asked what's the problem I said there is no problem I just need to order another sandwich. He states well it's going to be 15-20 mins rudely I might add. I try telling him what sandwich and what I don't want on it I get to saying no deli he said what deli and I pointed down at my already ordered sandwich deli mustard is what this says. Finished ringing out. He walks to the back. I asked who he was to the lady making sandwiches, she said he is their manager. I said well he is rude as crap. I would leave 0 stars if possible. I went in placed a Togo order, I was the only customer in there and waited 45 minutes for one sub. If you want mediocre food, horrible customer service and have 45 minutes to waste on your lunch break then this might be the place for you!! I would not recommend going here personally. read more

The Fernandina Beach Firehouse is great!! The food is constantly good but equally important the service is top notch. I am regular and order online, they always acknowledge me by name when I come through the door, they often walk my cup out to me if there is a wait for my sandwich. This place used to be great, but has gone downhill. Time before last my sandwich had half the meat it used to and was missing ingredients, but we gave them another chance. The next time immediately upon walking into the empty establishment we were rudely informed that it would be a long wait and that they had a large order called in. Went here while I was waiting for a job interview. The woman cashiering, I do not remember her name but it was St. Patty's day and she had a head band on with two clovers on it. She was so nice and walked around the place asking if anybody needed anything. I loved that she made sure everyone was doing well. My only little negative is that I said no onions and somehow ended up with what seemed like extra onions so I did not enjoy pulling all of those off of the sub. Other than that, I love this location. Told heavy set (red hair) that the floor was wet and she didn't answer. She didn't clean the floor she went on drinking her drink. Later she put up a wet sign. I love me some Firehouse! My hubby and I normally split the steamer. Corned beef goodness! I also love their datil pepper sauce and hubs loves the Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion sauce. It's a perfect to go meal for us because we live about 10 mins away. I love their chip options too and they have one of those coke machines that has a millions choices! Ive eaten here numerous times and never had an issue. They were unusually busy today so I waited about 20 minutes for my Steak and Cheese sub, which is understandable because of the crowd. When I received my sub it had a smear of marinara sauce on the cut down the middle, like they used a dirty knife to cut it. I wasn't going to wait 20 more minutes for a replacement sub so I ate around it. Very disappointed because it makes me wonder where else they fall short in their cleanliness and sanitation of their equipment. When you visit an island, I suppose you should expect captive island service. Not sure if that is the reason or not, but very poor service. Obvious while waiting for my takeout that there were problems. Dine in customer was complaining, lady behind me was served her sub, which was probably mine, before the person in front of me was served. Not sure about his takeout order, mine was plain ham on white bread with banana peppers. Far from hook and ladder on wheat.. Called back, teenage cashier offered to let me speak to the teenage manager. I ordered online and they said it would be ready at 5:30 and it wasn't they didn't have the people that were there sitting for awhile eating till about 15 minutes into our waiting time.
