In the past year or so the Fire Tower has become a favorite spot for my new wife and I. We spend quite a few weekends in the winter skiing at Stratton and historically we have gone to the mountain, spent the day skiing and then went straight home to the place we stay at off the mountain. A few winters ago we started heading into the village after skiing and we thought we would try the "new" FireTower, and wow - we are so glad we did. We absolutely love their cocktails (seems like they always have something fun and creative they are making and infusing some alcohol with one thing or another) and we can't get enough of the jerk wings. We quickly realized how friendly and knowledgeable the bar staff is and how inventive and talented the chef is. On a few occasions we even stayed for dinner in the dining room and loved the food and service. My then girlfriend and I got engaged at Stratton and planned a Stratton wedding for June of 2015. When it came time to find a place for our rehearsal dinner and welcome party the Fire Tower was an obvious choice. The owner, Peter, and his staff were amazing to work with. He was open minded to fun and creative ideas and did everything he could make sure our events were the special events we hoped they would be to kick off our wedding weekend. He took the time to create custom menus and suggested great food and drink options, even a "signature cocktail" that we offered to our guests at both events. Both events were incredible and our guests can't stop talking about how great the food was, how attentive and friendly the staff was, how much they enjoyed the cocktails, and the great time that they had. In summary, whether you are looking for a quick cocktail and a snack, a sit down dinner, or to have a special event, I would highly recommend the Fire Tower. As mentioned, it is now a favorite place of ours and we plan to stop in whenever we are in town, whether it be during ski season or over the summer. Thank you Fire Tower. See you soon. read more

Visited the Fire Tower during Christmas break when the village was bustling. Our table for ten was handled beautifully from start to finish. Our delicious cocktails and meals arrived promptly and the six children licked their plates clean, some of them remarking it was "the best they've ever had!" My family and I dined at FireTower during the busy holiday week. What an awesome experience! This restaurant is exactly what Stratton has been needing...a casual atmosphere with a delicious menu for all ages. The hostesses were very accommodating. Our table was ready on time, they helped us with our coats, and sat us within 5 minutes of arrival. Our waiter had all our questions covered, offered great suggestions, and provided speedy service. We each enjoyed our entrees which ranged from gourmet pizzas, to plain pizzas, to venison, to duck! FireTower had it all. My compliments to the owners and staff of my new favorite hangout! read more

It's really nice to have an option at the Mountain that has great food and a great bar. While it is new and working things out as I see others have mentioned, everything else made up for it. The decor and ambiance were awesome. The food is fantastic (ate there 2 nights in a row and tried a bunch of things, as did my family). Our waitress, Cheyenne, was so sweet. The bartenders at the bar were great. There was nothing to complain about. And plenty to bring me back again and again. Beer and wine selection were pretty goo too! read more

Really liked this place. Cool old photos of Stratton all around, fun bar, good local beers. Had a great dinner, really liked the firetower shrimp and the ahi nachos. Potstickers were also a pleasant surprise. From duck to pizza, everyone was happy with their main dish. Server was great too, wish I remembered the name. I've skied all over Vermont and been to my fair share of crappy après places, this one was honestly my favorite with awesome, real food. Definitely going to head back next time we are in Stratton. read more

I would highly recommend The Fire Tower! The place has amazing food and great wine. The resturant has a modern layout with "mountain style". It has been busy every time I have went, which contributes to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Waitresses as well as other staff are always at your disposal and accommodating. The Fire Tower is located in the Stratton village, which is walking distance from the mountain and makes it perfect for an après ski drink in their bar. A restaurant with quality! read more

Went to fire tower the first night (Saturday) at Stratton and was great, however went there a second night and it was a disaster. My girlfriend and her mother have celiac disease and had an appetizer the first night that they claimed was gluten free the first night and on the menu that we tried to order again and they apparently ran out of gluten free flour on Thursday and decided to substitute regular flour, my girlfriend ended up getting very sick the whole next day. And then five of us ordered steaks and four of them came out cooked completely incorrectly. Also a dish that was supposed to come out with dinner came out as an appetizer. The whole experience was extremely off-putting and we will not be coming back when we visit in the future. read more

If you go to the restaurant for takeout they will ask you to go online to their takeout menu while you are standing in the restaurant. Their online menu is also out of date so don't expect to be able to get what you want. If you eat there don't have too good of a time or their staff will confront you. read more

Had a really good dinner here. The service was great, the cocktails were delicious. Please drink all the dessert cocktails you will not be disappointed. Nice selection of local beers/ciders on tap. My boyfriend had the ribs and I couldn't stop nibbling off his plate. The kale & sausage cavatappi was delicious too! My husband and I came to Stratton for our wedding anniversary. For our first night we had dinner at the fire tower. We expected a bar like atmosphere but to our surprise it was far more elegant and cozy. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable while explaining menu options. My husband had the pasta while I had the fish. Both were amazing with a unique flavor! The dessert menu had a nice variety, something for everyone. The restaurant is priced fairly to the quality of the food. We would come back. read more

I was here with my husband and 2 friends tonight and I had to write this review first thing when getting back to our room. The food tasted okay but I did find two pieces of hair that I did NOT complain about. At the end we split the check on 2 cards and left the tip only on 1. As we were walking out, the chef STORMED out of the kitchen towards us and said "what's up guys? You guys pay the bill but don't tip my waitress?" I kindly responded "are you joking?" because I really didn't believe it. He disgustingly said "yes I'm serious" so I kindly told him to check because we left more than 18% on 1 card. So he walked away and said "fuck you guys." We waited for him to tell us that yes we left a tip and waited for an apology. I have never had such a horrible experience. My husband and I were just up in Stratton 2 weekends ago for the beautiful fall foliage. We decided to try the new Firetower Restaurant and I have to say this place is awesome. We had a great time sitting in the bar while the bartender was making up their drink of the day. It was called the Cider Smash. They really seem to be excited about trying new things because he gave us a sample to see what we thought. It was SO good! We had wings while sitting there which were the best we have ever had. My husband loves wings so I was trying to figure out what the secret ingredient was in the sauce...Perhaps nutmeg? Maybe ginger?? Not sure but I am going to try a few things to try to figure it out. We sat to have dinner and shared the Ahi Nachos which were delicious and for dinner we tried the Pork Schnitzel and the mountain Blue gemelli both of which were fantastic. I have a weakness for pasta and couldn't stop eating it. The owner came by our table to see how everything was. He really seems to be passionate about the restaurant and wanted any feedback we could offer. We couln't think of any suggestions but I tried to get the secret for the wings sauce but no luck! I really hope they do well and are there for many years because we can't wait to go back. read more
