Affogato, what a wonderful word. It's both fun to say, and the smell of a fresh shot of espresso over a vanilla bean ice cream, is instantly pulled from memory. The full phrase is actually, "affogato al caffè", but we're diverging from this wonderful coffee shop. It has a few outdoor tables, a nicely stocked indoor counter, featuring many flavors of gelato, desserts, and a full selection of espresso-based beverages. The two guys behind the counter were easy to talk to, spoke fluent English and Spanish, took tap and pay forms of payment, and made everything as easy as possible. While the place didn't scream upscale, it was entirely too nice to be called a hole in the wall. They did a beautiful job of making it look nice without being pretentious. read more
