    S&S Painting

    S&S Painting

We hired S&S Painting to paint our Oak windows. We chose Russell based on the initial meeting where…read morehe said he would "sand them, fill holes, paint, and make them look great." This sounded like a great guarantee, and paired with the glowing reviews online, it seemed like a great match. When the team finished Day 1, there were an abundance of visible scratches in the wood, poor paint coverage (thin and clumpy), hand prints in the paint, and the incorrect color was used, despite my color inquiry mid-painting. When I called Russell to share my concerns, he defended his workmanship saying it was consistent with new builds, and we must have different expectations. He went on to share that he assumed the color and finish desired, without confirming with the client. Russell wanted a chance to fix the problems, but based on his own admission the work he provided was of high-quality. We did not have a lot of faith that any additional work would give a different result. We decided we did not want him back in our home, and risk causing more damage to the wood. Very disappointed in S&S and do not recommend working with them. Instead of beautifully painted windows, we are stuck with incorrect paint colors, poor workmanship, and a huge expense to fix the problem.

As an Evansville native, I was very pleased to hire a locally owned business to paint my Janesville…read morehome. I regretted it almost immediately and still do almost a year later. Obviously outdoor work is weather-dependent, and we experienced some delays (understandable), however the communication about these delays was nonexistent and frustrating, as I had other contractors waiting on the paintjob before they could do their work (soffit, fascia, gutters, etc). Once they arrived to begin work, the crew had forgotten to bring a hose and asked to borrow mine. In the process of hooking up my hose, they broke the spigot handle on the hose hookup, leaving me with the hose connected, water running, and NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF. At the end of October. The crew leader informed me of the damage and assured me that the owner had already been notified and would take care of the cost of repairs. I spoke to Russel about the damage, he claimed to have no knowledge of it, but told me he would stop by to take a look and make it right. He never showed up and stopped returning my calls and texts. The crew leader also told me they had forgotten to bring back my extra black paint so they could paint over the screws holding the shutters to the house. They never brought back that paint and my screws were never painted. The rest of my extra paint was left on the back deck in the rain with the lids not sealed, so the paint is ruined. I was also assured that someone would check in with me in the spring to make sure there was no bubbling or spots that needed extra attention. No one has reached out to me. Bottom line, I could not in good faith recommend this company to anyone and I'm shocked and disappointed at the glaring oversights in customer service.

Garbage. Complete Garbage. More pictures of work by…read moreincompetent workers and an owner that doesn't care about anything but getting paid When I first hired the owner Michael, he said that the kitchen cabinets would be taken off at the hinge (as I requested), sanded and painted. When the two painters came, they started putting the undercoat on. I called Michael right away and asked what they were doing because (as per contract) they were supposed to be sanding. He said, " it would be fine". As you can see from the pictures, it is not. It chipped immediately. When asked, Michael said I must be running carts into it. I have no idea what that means, and that my dogs must be scratching at them. I do not have dogs. Either way, the paint job that "will last a lifetime" (his words) lasted 2 days. There was wallpaper to be taken off. There are spots where that was left completely. when I mentioned it to Michael on his walk-through, he said, " I never would have noticed that." as if I should not have even bothered him with it. The painters didn't bring in drop cloths, one saying, " they're in the back of the truck. I don't want to dig them out." consequently he dripped paint on my tile, on my floors, on my carpet, on the woodwork. Michael's comments, " that happens." The wall in the kitchen didn't look great on the final walk-through. I asked Michael about it. He said it would look fine when it dried. It did not. when it started peeling I noticed it was only one coat of paint. Yes, Michael said that he would have his men come back, but why would I want them back in my home? They had already damaged my property. One was constantly trying to run game on me. the second pointed out things of mine that weren't up to his standard. The second day he walked in the front door without knocking or letting me know he was here. Started walking around my home. Both of them talked s when they thought I wasn't around. This company is garbage. From the work they do to the humans they are

Tom was very responsive upon first contact and was able to come out to estimate the job within 1-2 days. I was very appreciative that he helped point out some areas in the living room and kitchen the were in serious need of patchwork and repairs from the previous DIY job. Within about another day I had a project estimate that I found to be very fair considering the amount of work that was required. Tom personally helped me pick the color and provided suggestions when I was unsure of paint finishes and a few minor details. Scheduling the workers was easy and Jason and Josh did a fantastic job. The wall patching was well done and the retexturing just made everything look right. They covered a living room with vaulted ceiling, kitchen with a skylight, dining room, and hallway in just a couple of days. Throughout the project Tom was communicating frequently, providing status updates. The painters cleaned up after themselves and left everything in good shape. I will definitely be contacting these guys again for my next project.
