Just had my first session with Karey 3 days ago and WOW! What a difference it is to have perfect brows 24/7! I spent a lot of time researching eyebrow tattoos. Karey's before and after pics, along with her perfect reviews, made choosing an artist easy. There is a long wait to see her (obviously!) but she was so sweet accommodating my schedule changes and other things that came up prior to our appointment. She is genuinely a beautiful person, inside and out. I knew, before even meeting her, that i had made the right choice. With that being said, I was completely comfortable and confident when my big day had finally arrived. I wanted her input re the best color and shape for me. She showed me a color that was very similar to what I've been using. Then she meticulously drew eyebrows on. After a few minor adjustments, I was looking at perfect brows and ready to be tattooed! Like other reviewers, I agree the first step felt like getting tweezed. Really no big deal at all. She numbed the area for the 2nd step, but it would've been tolerable (for me) without. I have a lot of tattoos and can handle being uncomfortable for long periods of time. The numbing cream actually made the experience relaxing :) When she was done, I looked in the mirror and could not believe it! Sooo natural with the hair strokes. The shape is similar but looks so much better than what I've been drawing on my face for over 20 years! This was the first of two sessions. The second session she goes in and touches up, fills in, etc...whatever is needed for absolute perfection. They are beautiful as is, so the second session will be very minor. If you are on the fence about permanent makeup, do yourself a favor let Karey hook you up! Such a difference and a HUGE time saver! I love the way she explained everything in detail, every step. I have had my eyebrows tattooed 12 years ago and 6 years ago and yes, they do fade after some years. I had two different faded lines and they looked horrible. I was hoping that Karey could tattoo over both and make nice fresh new lines. What caught my attention was the fact that when she tattoos, it looks like she tattoos single strands of eyebrow hairs which makes them look so much more natural. She did exactly that. Karey is by far the best eyebrow artist in San Diego. Eyebrows are such an important part of the face, if you change your brows, it changes everything and changes your entire expression. Eyebrows can make you look happy, sad, angry, surprised, sexy - they can be even more expressive than the eyes themselves. So it's incredibly important to have the right person do them. Permanent makeup is permanent. It's not like a bad hair cut or color. It doesn't just grow out, and if it's not done right, it's incredibly difficult to fix and many times not even possible at all. So you want to make sure it's done right the first time. When I decided on Karey, I had done a lot of research already and I felt confident that she would do a very good job. And she did so much better than that - the brows I have now, are much more beautiful even than my own natural ones ever were! They are, literally perfect. And I could not be happier! Although what Karey did for my mom's brows is even more amazing. My mom had permanent makeup done many years ago and the artist did not do a very good job. She gave her pencil thin brows with arches that were much too high. They did not look good. And then in the course of 5 years, my mom fell twice, and split her forehead, both times, needing stitches vertically through the same brow. The skin was not stitched together perfectly, leaving her with scarring and very uneven brows. I took her to a plastic surgeon, but there was really nothing he could do besides perhaps put filler into the indentation - he recommended that she not try and have revision surgery as there wasn't much that could be done and it could end up worse. I encouraged her to see Karey because I felt like she could at least make the situation better although I wasn't sure how much, I had a feeling it would certainly be an improvement. What Karey did for my mom's brows is nothing short of a miracle - and better than anything even a plastic surgeon could've done! They look so even and pretty and natural now - you can't even see the scarring or unevenness at all now. Karey exceeded even our highest hopes! I realize that Karey's prices are not the cheapest, but she is the best and worth every penny and more. I would never, ever trust my brows and my face to anyone else. But she dreaded doing it and always wound up in tears because it hurt her soooo much. I did NOT want to go through that. She spends so much time with you trying to figure out the shape you want and the color you want and is more than happy to clean your brows and try again if the shape isn't 100% what you want. The actual "procedure" itself is super chill. She gives you a nice blanket and pillows for your legs, nice music playing and once the initial outline has been done she puts on some lovely numbing cream, making the rest of the appointment painless and zen.
