I saw Karey to get my eyebrows tattooed. I was so nervous and wasn't sure about the whole thing. She immediately put me at ease with how professional and knowledgeable she was and it was clear she takes her work very very seriously! I absolutely love my eyebrows and wish I had done this sooner!! I will definitely go back for many years to come and highly recommend her! I've told lots of friends about her already. read more

It's been a little over 4 years now since I've started seeing Karey and I'm happy to say I'm still a very satisfied client! I'm always getting compliments on my eyebrows and I'm just more in love with them each time she see's me. Over the years, I've come to appreciate the tapping method that Karey uses. While microblading has become a trend and is a more common practice, I've unfortunately met too many with concerns or complaints. I'm so fortunate to have found Karey. My eyebrows last and I really just go in annually to keep them touched up and fresh. I'm convinced she has magic. Just when I think my brows could not be more perfect, she does it again. A visit with Karey = happiness and confidence. I could not imagine my life (or face) without Karey. Thank you for continuing to take such good care of me! read more

BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE! I booked my appointment with Karey, and I was a little bummed out that I had to wait a couple of months, but there is a reason she is booked out! It's because she is amazing! My eyebrows have never looked better, and I've gotten tons of compliments - not on my eyebrows specifically, but on my overall appearance, because it improved the shape and look of my whole face! Several times I have found myself in conversations about microblading, and when I let people know that I have had it done, they were AMAZED, because my eyebrows look so natural! You seriously cannot tell. Also, Karey is excellent at helping you find the right shape, and guiding you through the process so that you know EXACTLY what you are getting before she even begins to tattoo. I had very little hair for her to work with, thanks to the overplucking craze that happened in the 90's. She is an absolute miracle worker. I've referred friends, and I am even going to gift this service to my mom for her birthday. Honestly, if you are on the fence or simply in the process of considering this for yourself, DO IT! I swear, you will not regret it! read more

Fine Lines Studios - My before/after the day of. - Permanent Makeup Near Me - San Diego, California

I could say so many great things about this experience, I could repeat what many said about how nice & sweet Karey is. All of which are 100% true. She is a genuine, true hearted good soul. She made me so comfortable and took so much time perfecting every stroke, every angle, every color possibility. Her studio is professional and she is an artist. I did a lot of research and the waiting was hard, but worth it. Price is worth it. Her honest integrity and years of experience are worth it all. She checks on you all throughout and is attentive when you have concerns/questions. Maybe you will find an appointment sooner? Maybe you will find a cheaper price...? But, let's keep it real, IT'S A TATTOO ON YOUR FACE...be patient, save your pennies, do your research and book with Karey! read more

Fine Lines Studios - After 1st session, a beautiful brow, a confident me - Permanent Makeup Near Me - San Diego, California

Just had my first session with Karey 3 days ago and WOW! What a difference it is to have perfect brows 24/7! I spent a lot of time researching eyebrow tattoos. Karey's before and after pics, along with her perfect reviews, made choosing an artist easy. There is a long wait to see her (obviously!) but she was so sweet accommodating my schedule changes and other things that came up prior to our appointment. She is genuinely a beautiful person, inside and out. I knew, before even meeting her, that i had made the right choice. With that being said, I was completely comfortable and confident when my big day had finally arrived. I wanted her input re the best color and shape for me. She showed me a color that was very similar to what I've been using. Then she meticulously drew eyebrows on. After a few minor adjustments, I was looking at perfect brows and ready to be tattooed! Like other reviewers, I agree the first step felt like getting tweezed. Really no big deal at all. She numbed the area for the 2nd step, but it would've been tolerable (for me) without. I have a lot of tattoos and can handle being uncomfortable for long periods of time. The numbing cream actually made the experience relaxing :) When she was done, I looked in the mirror and could not believe it! Sooo natural with the hair strokes. The shape is similar but looks so much better than what I've been drawing on my face for over 20 years! This was the first of two sessions. The second session she goes in and touches up, fills in, etc...whatever is needed for absolute perfection. They are beautiful as is, so the second session will be very minor. If you are on the fence about permanent makeup, do yourself a favor let Karey hook you up! Such a difference and a HUGE time saver! Looking pretty first thing in the morning, and just out of the shower, will really make you feel great! read more

Fine Lines Studios - Love my beautiful, perfect brows! Karey is THE BEST! - Permanent Makeup Near Me - San Diego, California

Karey is by far an amazing woman and artist when it comes to eyebrows. My review is long overdue but just wanted to make note of someone who is truly a good person and very precise and passionate about what she does. I am guessing that I might be one of the few guys she has worked on and mine was not an easy one by any means. I had a dog bite that removed about 1/5 of my eyebrow. She was so understanding and patience with getting it to look like my other eyebrow just amazing at what she do. She is continuously improving her products and her craft and I can't thank her enough for constantly improving my eyebrow. Thank you so very much Karey!!! Scott read more

This review is long overdue. I initially had my brows done with Karey about 14 months ago and I was so happy with the results. Karey is extremely talented. I went in for a refresher and once again Karey did her magic. She is so patient and truly a kind and caring person. She takes her time with me as we decided on the color and shape. I get compliments all the time on my brows. It's so nice to wake up and have perfect brows! I did a lot of research before deciding to go to Karey at Fine Line Studios. I'm so glad I found Karey. Karey is just amazing. She made me feel at ease right away. From the moment I stepped into her studio, I felt like we were long lost friends. I love the way she explained everything in detail, every step. I have had my eyebrows tattooed 12 years ago and 6 years ago and yes, they do fade after some years. I had two different faded lines and they looked horrible. I was hoping that Karey could tattoo over both and make nice fresh new lines. What caught my attention was the fact that when she tattoos, it looks like she tattoos single strands of eyebrow hairs which makes them look so much more natural. She did exactly that. My old lines were no longer visible and the new lines look amazing. What I liked also is that Karey does not use a tattoo gun which can hurt. Her method is so much more gentler and she takes her time tattooing each hair separately. Just amazing. What a huge difference from my old tattoos. She draws the eyebrows on before she starts tattooing so you can see exactly how they are going to look. I'm so glad I found Karey. She has such great skills in her craft. read more

Sometimes to have the best - you have to wait for the best. Karey is not only extremely talented in artistry of this business but she is a caring, thoughtful person. She brought me back eyebrows that much were lost through chemo. Our time spent was pretty amazing. I walked out of there extremely happy with her design and my look. I have not had my second apt yet, but by far have had multiple compliments on my brows. Instant eye lift!! Thank you Karey - you are the best!! Jeri THANK YOU! read more

I've been wanting to get permanent make-up to feel more confident all the time and to save precious moments getting ready every day. I researched a few other places in the area and I was disappointed in other people's technique and lack of professionalism. Then I found Karey's Studio! It all started at her web page. It is extremely informative and gave me a good baseline in knowledge. It even chronicled her trip to help women in the military gain more confidence. I got in contact with her and scheduled my first appointment. Meeting her was a treat. She gets to know you, your style, and your personality to help you craft the perfect face. All of my nerves disappeared and I wasn't worried about the actual procedure. She used plenty of numbing cream and I didn't feel more than a pluck. She truly cares for all of her clients! If I could do it all over again, I would go straight to Karey at Fine Lines! read more

Kerry is a colleague of mine. I reached out to her several years ago to have a local artist that I could talk shop with. When we finally got together we created and instant friendship and have so much in common. She is a kind and lovely woman who cares deeply about her clients and her art. We refer clients to one another when we feel the other might be a better match for what our clients are wanting. It is so refreshing to feel confident that I can do that. I have seen her work in person. Just beautiful. She selects appropriate design and color for her clients outcome. Some of the best hairstroke eyebrows I have seen. (and after 12 years in the industry I've seen it all) If your looking for a professional with great expertise and a good eye for design she is an "artists artist". I would have her work on me any day! You rock girl! read more

Karey is absolutely AMAZING!! I am extremely low maintenance when it comes to my makeup so I just wanted very subtle eyeliner. I was soooo nervous about having a needle close to my eye but Karey uses this hand tool that she has complete control over, it's not your typical tattoo procedure, at all! Karey and I discussed what I was looking for over several consultations and made me very at ease. The day of, we went over it again, she slapped some numbing cream on me, let me relax for 20 minutes then got down to business! I didn't feel anything! 30 minutes after the procedure I was back to work and no one was the wiser as to what I had just done ;) After all, I don't need everyone knowing my beauty secrets... Am I right, ladies!!? Thank you so much, Karey for taking such great care of me. I can't wait to see you next month for a touch up and some more work! I'm officially addicted!! read more

Karey is my superwoman! When it comes to your face, you need an artist; somebody who understands how to make your eyebrows beautiful and natural with the shape and tone of your face. She had an array of colors to choose from with a prescription approach to get darker with your second visit. Her procedure, guidance, and pre-drawing on your face guarantees what you are looking at in the mirror - before everything becomes permanent. Even though she is booked until April, I am flying my mother out twice to get hers done with her. read more

One of the best decisions I made, this is just my first session and I am loving it. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, I work out pretty intensely and after every gym session I sweat off my brows, sometimes half on one side and all off on the other side, seriously looks ridiculous. I am so glad I found Karey on yelp. She is such an amazing artist, a great listener, and she cares very much about her client. I got my brows done 2 years ago, and I recently went back to see if I needed a touch up, so I made an appointment to see her again. After she looked at my brows, she told me her honest opinion and that my brows still looked really good, and I don't need a touch up. She said I can wait another year. I was so thankful for her honesty, and if you need to get your brows done, I would recommend Karey. She is talented, honest, and very knowledgeable about her work. read more

I woke up like this! Seriously fabulous to have perfect brows all the time, with out penciling them in and Karey is the one to do it for you. The commitment to microblading is kind of a big one - much like tattooing, you want to be sure it's done right. Karey is patient and professional. She explains everything to you in detail and offers great advice on shape and color. After she was finished, we went through together with a mirror in order to make sure that I was happy with every single stroke. I got my eyebrows done by Karey. She is one amazing and super nice woman. She totally change my eyebrows to how I want them and worked very hard to make me a very happy customer. She takes her time doing what she does best. She is very patient and understanding. When I first came to her I didn't exactly know what shape or how thick I wanted my eyebrows. She was very helpful in finding me the perfect eyebrows. The process for me wasn't too bad, it was a bit long but like I said she takes her time to make sure you are one very happy customer. Other than beings a bit long the pain for me was minor but I do have high tolerance in pain and she does use numbing cream after she draws in the hair lines. I would definitely recommend Karey to anyone and will be coming back if I want to get anything else done. read more

At age 56, I was in serious need of some eyebrows. Because of hormonal changes, I had only a few hairs left, and have been "putting my brows on" every day, for years. Cosmetic Tatooing offered an ideal solution. As a reviewer with firsthand experience, I can honestly say that Karey at Fine Lines Studios is extraordinary! There is a reason she has a 5 star Yelp rating with amazing reviews. She has an excellent artist's eye, which is essential for good brow shape and proper coloring, and she provides wise advice without ever being pushy or forceful. She has superb skill with hair stroke technique, which helped put my mind at ease. Her studio is clean, attractive, and peaceful so my experience there was really lovely. Karey balances professionalism with true kindness, thoughtfulness, undivided attention, and care. She was always mindful of my personal comfort accompanied by genuine warmth. I have a wonderful new friend (feels like I've known Karey forever). From beginning to end, she has had my complete trust and confidence. I love my new brows and I feel like I've dropped 10 years off my looks. The convenience of always having great looking beautifully shaped brows is amazing! This is not your average microblading - Karey is THE BEST! I did plenty of homework before getting my brows done and I'm thrilled that I chose Karey to do the job. She takes plenty of time to work on shape and color before starting the process. After years of plucking (over-plucked back in my high school days) my brows were sparse and naturally light. I couldn't stand to do one more day of pencil! Karey's studio is spacious and inviting and the whole process went smoothly. She gives instructions on how to care for fresh brows and when to come back for retouch. I. LOVE. MY. BROWS!! Be patient if you can't get booked right away...she is so worth the wait! Karey is by far the best eyebrow artist in San Diego. Eyebrows are such an important part of the face, if you change your brows, it changes everything and changes your entire expression. Eyebrows can make you look happy, sad, angry, surprised, sexy - they can be even more expressive than the eyes themselves. So it's incredibly important to have the right person do them. Permanent makeup is permanent. It's not like a bad hair cut or color. It doesn't just grow out, and if it's not done right, it's incredibly difficult to fix and many times not even possible at all. So you want to make sure it's done right the first time. When I decided on Karey, I had done a lot of research already and I felt confident that she would do a very good job. And she did so much better than that - the brows I have now, are much more beautiful even than my own natural ones ever were! They are, literally perfect. And I could not be happier! Although what Karey did for my mom's brows is even more amazing. My mom had permanent makeup done many years ago and the artist did not do a very good job. She gave her pencil thin brows with arches that were much too high. They did not look good. And then in the course of 5 years, my mom fell twice, and split her forehead, both times, needing stitches vertically through the same brow. The skin was not stitched together perfectly, leaving her with scarring and very uneven brows. I took her to a plastic surgeon, but there was really nothing he could do besides perhaps put filler into the indentation - he recommended that she not try and have revision surgery as there wasn't much that could be done and it could end up worse. I encouraged her to see Karey because I felt like she could at least make the situation better although I wasn't sure how much, I had a feeling it would certainly be an improvement. What Karey did for my mom's brows is nothing short of a miracle - and better than anything even a plastic surgeon could've done! They look so even and pretty and natural now - you can't even see the scarring or unevenness at all now. Karey exceeded even our highest hopes! I realize that Karey's prices are not the cheapest, but she is the best and worth every penny and more. I would never, ever trust my brows and my face to anyone else. Thank you Karey, from both my mom and me - you are not just an artist, you are a miracle worker! read more

I did a LOT of research before making my first microblading appt with Karey. A good friend with thin brows had been getting "permanent makeup" done for years--and her brows looked terrific. But she dreaded doing it and always wound up in tears because it hurt her soooo much. I did NOT want to go through that. So I talked to a lot of people, read a lot of reviews, and checked out a lot of sites. Upshot: It was instantly clear from Karey's clients, before/afters, and clear explanations that she was all about comfort as well as doing a great job. Still, I was a nervous. I needn't have been. Fast-forward a few years: Karey just did my third brow "refresh" and--as always--it was a piece of cake. She numbs the area so carefully and thoroughly that I actually snooze off now and then while she's working. And the results are amazing. She's also always up to date on new tools and techniques, and the studio is calm, comfortable, and immaculate. I would never, ever go anywhere else. Period. read more

While on an all girls trip to Mexico a few months ago to reconnect with my high school friends I was admiring one of my girlfriends eyebrows. I just thought she was blessed with perfectly shaped beautiful brows so I was very surprised when she told me they looked like that due to permanent makeup done by Karey. My friend told me that if I was going to get permanent makeup, I had to go to Karey and that she had already done her research on artists. I immediately made an appointment with Karey for a consult. Karey is kind and thoughtful and will patiently answer all of your questions and address any of your concerns. Karey did my eyebrows two weeks ago and I am so happy with the results. I have never had an arch and my eyebrows were on the thin side. I now have that arch and they look so natural. The procedure wasn't painful at all. After much conversation about the look you want, she will draw your brows with a pencil to make sure that is exactly what you want. Karey makes sure you are comfortable and warm and then applies numbing cream. It felt like I was getting my eyebrows tweezed. I should have done this years ago! read more

Karey is such a pro, always makes sure you love everything about your brow outline and color before getting to work. She spends so much time with you trying to figure out the shape you want and the color you want and is more than happy to clean your brows and try again if the shape isn't 100% what you want. The actual "procedure" itself is super chill. She gives you a nice blanket and pillows for your legs, nice music playing and once the initial outline has been done she puts on some lovely numbing cream, making the rest of the appointment painless and zen. She always follows up with you the day after to makes sure everything turned out ok. Even checking up on you a week after! I get so many compliments on my brows, best decision I've ever made. So happy and proud to be a client of Karey. 100/10 read more

This was such a great experience for me! Karey is not only an awesome person but she is really great at what she does. I had to wait a couple of months to see her but it was totally worth the wait. I didn't really know what to expect but she made me feel comfortable and the tattooing was painless. She had great follow up and made sure that I was doing ok after the 1st and 2nd session by texting me and touching base with me. Her office is very soothing and warm. I felt comfortable right from the get go which means a lot to me. I have other tattoo's on my body and am very picky at who does on work on me. I'm so happy that I did my research and chose to get my work done by Karey. I would recommend her to anyone of my friends or family. read more

I literally just got my eyebrows done TODAY w/ Karey and I couldn't be more excited to write this review! First, I found her on Yelp. I've heard about the tapping/ hair technique for years, but couldn't find a place in San Diego that really lured me in; until fine lines studios. The "before and after" pictures on her Yelp page looked great! Just like I wanted, natural looking. I usually do have a more defined brow, but that's only when I have my full face glam on. It would be nice to just have naturally looking eyebrows for work days (which I have no/minimal make up on), quick grocery runs, and just for daily looks. Anyways, the first thing I did was text her since it's more convenient for me and she texted back fairly quick. I informed her that I was a little nervous because, obviously the word "permanent" and "my face" were involved in the same sentence and anything done permanently to your face can always be scary. Karey totally understood that and made me feel so comfortable and this was just via text! When I actually met her for my consult (which I highly advise for nervous nelly's like me) she definitely reassured me even more and talked in detail about what to expect, the process, how it will heal, how to take care of it, etc. she was very patient with me and gave me the time I needed and I never felt pressured at all to book the procedure with her since I just came for a consult. After the consult, I felt comfortable enough to book the actual procedure which wasn't until a couple of weeks later. (she gets booked really quick ladies!) when I got there, the atmosphere was very calming, clean and well prepared. I showed her pics of what I wanted my brows to look like at my consult already, so the next step was just to pick a great matching color and sketch it on my brows. It's relieving to know that she sketches it on first with a NON-permanent pen, so you get a rough idea of the shape and what it will look like. (FYI, the actual outcome looks wayyyyy better than the sketch and I thought the sketch was already great! Lol) I've heard horror stories of people getting permanent brows who didn't even get like an outline or anything before they got put the permanent stuff on! Scary stuff! Anyways, once we agreed on the color and shape which took like almost an hour and 30 minutes because she literally takes her time with you and makes sure you are 100% happy with the sketch because that will be what she uses as her template for the permanent stuff. So I appreciate her SO MUCH for taking her time to do that with me (being the picky person that I'am. Hey, again, it's permanent so I wasn't playing any games, lol) and don't be afraid to ask her for her opinions. She's been doing this for 9+ years so she knows her stuff. Once I was 100% happy with the sketch, then came the actual procedure. To be honest, I wasn't really scared about pain because I've had body tattoos before so it wasn't really a major issue to me. I was more concerned about what the outcome will look like. I have to say though, the tapping technique tattoo is a very different feeling than getting a tattoo on the body. There's steps to this procedure, but the most painful part (which wasn't at all that painful to me) was the first step. It felt like an intense eyebrow plucking. That's the best way to explain it. After the first step though, she puts numbing cream which takes affect in like 5 minutes and does the rest of the steps which is like a walk in the park after the numbing cream was applied. So if you know what eyebrow plucking feels like, you'll do fine with the first step. After everything was done, which I wanna say was like 45-1 hour for the actual procedure? (I could be wrong) I finally got to look at the finished product. Both brows. And OMGGGGG it was literally life changing! Even though I saw her work on Yelp with her pictures, it's so surreal seeing it on yourself! They literally look like real hair!! It's insane! I'm use to seeing my eyebrows filled with pencil, but THIS just looked like I had full natural hair on it! Ahhhhh I'm still literally not over it! Anyways, bottom line, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. If you have any questions with anything, feel free to message me on Yelp. Of course, Karey will be more then happy to answer questions, but sometimes you need a clients point of view (: hope this helps all of you nervous nelly's! read more

Fine Lines Studios - My eyebrow dreams came true! (first session) - Permanent Makeup Near Me - San Diego, California

Karey is simply amazing. I had my eyeliner done elsewhere with a machine, after a year the lines were barely visible. A friend had recommended I find someone who uses the tap method. Not only is it less damaging but the lines are better. If I'm tattooing my face, I'd like to have it done by someone who knows what they're doing. I was a bit worried about working with someone again because I'm picky about what I want. Karey was open to working with me and offered to continue the work until I was happy. The custom eyeliner package was 100% worth it!!! I don't have to fuss with my make up at all during the summer. I can go swimming without worrying about looking like a raccoon! I spend 1/2 the time I used to when I get ready. My mom also had Karey do her liner and eyebrows as well. Her brows are perfect. I really like how she tattooed each "hair". They look soft and natural. My mom looks 10 years younger. It's been two years since I've had my liner done and things are still going strong. My bestie is going to get her liner done and maybe I'll consider doing my lips next... Oh, and to top it off- Karey is such a sweetheart! Love! read more
