**This is an update from my original review from 2022** Thank you for a great course! After living outside of the country for two years, I felt out of practice and wanted to bring my muscle memory back. Since Fine Art Bartending offers free retakes for graduates (for life), I was able to sign up again and brush up on my skills! I would like to pass on my glowing feedback about Mr. Grant because he's such a great teacher. He told us about real-life stories, shared tips, and got us to practice cool tricks from his experience in the industry. Yes, the theory and information in the textbook are extremely helpful and good to know, but the things that we learned directly from Grant that you don't find in the textbook are also extremely valuable. The course is different from when I last took it. It was simplified, and we got to practice 18 cocktails which were the most popular and common ones you will most likely need to make if you land a job as a bartender. My favorite part of the course is when we did a mock shift where we practiced what it would actually feel like taking orders, printing tickets, and making the cocktails while talking to the customers (our peers). I just submitted my resume and cover letter for feedback, which is so amazing that this is offered now to support us on our job search journey. My wife and I took the Intro to Bartending class and had a blast! There was lots of joking and laughing among the students and the instructor gave us tons of information about the history of different spirits and how to find the best quality and value for your money. Yesterday (Sunday February 23), I took the four hour "Introduction to Bartending" course. The original price of the course is $125, which is unfortunately out of my budget (high cost of living, low paying job, student loans, etc etc), but I had a voucher from Social Shopper for $39, which the school accepted without any issues. I like trying and learning new things, and I like to drink (wine and cocktails, not beer), so this course appealed to me, and hey, only $40! Jeroemie was a great instructor, and I found the course very interesting and informative, as well as fun. In addition to learning how to make over a dozen drinks (including mojitos, one of my favourites), we had a good basic overview of bar equipment, proper measuring and mixing techniques, and a brief history of the different kinds of alcohols, as well as the differences in quality and brands. Some of the alcohols we learned about were gin, vodka, tequila, and rum, to name a few. The class was very hands on, and not just four hours of boring lecture. After Jeroemie would explain and show us how to make the drinks, everyone then had the opportunity to practice it themselves. Instead of real alcohol we used colored water to represent the various alcohols and mixers, but Jeroemie did make a few real drinks for us to sample. In addition to learning how to make several cocktails (I totally want to have a cocktail party now!), I walked away with basic knowledge of the different alcohols. I had a great time, and highly recommend this course for anyone who wishes to expand their knowledge of alcohol and mixed drinks, or just learn how to make yummy drinks. (It'll probably also save you money in the long run, as going out to drink in Vancouver is bloody ridiculous.) read more

We took a team of 13 colleagues to a Friday afternoon cocktail making class. Chris was a brilliant teacher and host. We made 12 cocktails in 3 hours, and learnt some great tips and tricks about cocktail making. We'll definitely recommend Chris and Fine Art Bartending School to other teams in work. read more

Experienced and knowledgeable instructors made my learning experience fun! The course at Fine Art Bartending contained so much information in the student handbook and all the hands-on experience behind the bar made it real. I learned a lot about the different kinds of alcohol - history, quality, why the order of mixing is important and more. Now I can hold my own in a conversation with real connoisseurs, which is a must fine dining. In my class, the students ranged from people looking to get into the industry, folks retraining and people who just wanted to learn more. Lastly, the school itself has an awesome, old-timey, long bar vibe, complete with high ceilings and fans. Just coming into the space made me feel good about learning here. "Vodka martini, shaken, not stirred" why shaken? Well cause he's Bond... Or if you want the real answer. You'll have to check out this beginners bartending class. Did the 4 hour beginners bartending class as a group - good excuse to day drink.....and you don't feel too guilty because you're also learning. Jeremy was an incredible host/teacher. Given that he had worked as a bartender around the globe. He was able to share some knowledge around how different bartending is from one country to another. He kept us engaged and entertained without a dull moment. The structure of the class was well organized, started off with some history and then we got down and dirty and mixed the actual drinks. The BEST part though is while we were mixing fake drinks he was making us REAL ones. And for authenticity purposes, he also had a good mix of music that you would normally hear in a bar/club. Jeremy provided some advice on "best bang for your buck" brands of alcohol vs. just pure hype. I have no intention of being a bartender but one thing for sure I can make a mojito or two. I'd recommend this class for anyone that likes to have a drink now and then. Or even someone that wants to make sure the bartender is being hygienic... Sounds odd? Fine Art Bartending School is invaluable and extremely fun! I wish I took it when I was 19 years old. Jeroemie McKiel is an amazing teacher who not only understands the bartending industry very well but makes you enjoy and appreciate bartending and all types of alcohol. He was extremely thorough, taught us the right way of bartending, even showing us ways to be more efficient and effective. I'm not looking for a career change, but I wanted to learn to bartend for a long time. I just wanted something fun to do on weeknights or weekends. I've never been behind a bar before and I found the setup at Fine Art incredibly helpful. It's a real bar for all intents and purposes - it just needs real liquor. Fine Art Bartending School surpassed my expectations in every way. The combination of product knowledge and practical expertise (i.e., expert instruction plus real-time experience making drinks) means that I not only know the fundamentals on how to build a drink, precise recipes and other technical skills but that I actually know how to apply all that knowledge and throw down behind a bar. I could pat myself on the back and say my flashcards, work ethic or studying gave me the confidence to bartend but I would be lying. In truth, I owe everything to Jeroemie. Overall, the class was worth EVERY penny because not only do I have a skill that I can fall back on anywhere I go, but I also learned the "who, what, when, where, and why" of alcohol -- this is critical if you're going to professionally serve alcoholic drinks or if you're a lifetime party animal! read more

I just finished a two weeks commercial bartending course with Fine Art Bartending Vancouver and I enjoyed it so much! We learned how different kinds of alcohol were made, and the history and fun story just made the lecture even more interesting. Then we get to practice making drinks like we are behind a real bar during each class. In addition to knowing the basic and popular drinks, we also learned how to multitask, sell alcohol, as well as wine and food pairing! The program also includes the fees for BC government Serving It Right License. I think the knowledge I learned and the experience I got from this course is totally worth the price and time. It's really flexible too because they offer day, evening and weekend classes. My instructor was Henry, really cool, super funny! Whether you want to become a bartender, or you just like to drink and social with friends occasionally, this program will right the way help you stand out from a lot of people. read more

I got the LivingSocial coupon for the four-hour "Introduction to Bartending" workshop thinking that I'd go in and learn a few tricks. It turned out to be a very informative and fun afternoon well worth the money. The instructor Jeroemie was extremely friendly and helpful and really helped make the workshop interesting. We got to learn various brands/types of alcohol and mixing techniques, and everyone had the chance to try mixing the drinks behind a bar. Not to mention that we also got to sample some real booze! Kudos to an bartender that even pointed out various hygiene issues that we need to be mindful when making a drink. That really made me think about the drinks I had in the past.... Overall a very hands-on session with lots to take home (a handout was provided). Four hours went by a lot quicker than it sounds. I would recommend going with a friend so that you'll have a lot to talk about after the workshop. read more

Fine Art Bartending was a one of a kind experience and managed to give me a wide variety of skills that will be immensely useful in the industry. The teachers Kam and Chris are both extremely knowledgeable and talented as well work in the industry so you get an inside on what it's like to be a bartender. Tons of fun! If you see the Social Shopper I would definitely do it with a friend I went alone but it probably would have been more fun with a friend. You have to partner up in twos so best convince someone to go with you! I found our instructor incredibly knowledgeable and funny. Taking notes and listening was pretty good and then you get to practice! You learn a lot! If they had a second class where I could learn more, I would totally go! read more

I can't stress how much of an alcohol education you get taking the commercial bartending course. I was hesitant about taking the course for the longest time too - not because I wasn't interested in learning how to mix drinks and pour it like a pro, but because I didn't know whether I needed to spend the money on it. But on the first day of class, it was obvious how experienced and knowledgeable Jeroemie is, and therefore how much wealth you are getting in return for your buck. If I had gone the "normal" route and trained on the job to become a bartender, I would have felt all over the place and never nearly as competent or knowledgeable as I know I'll feel after absorbing all the information and practice the class has given me. I would have had to figure out everything by myself or from scattered sources. Here, I get my daily doses of alcohol factual tidbits and recipes from a thoroughly fun, funny and engaging human being. Jeroemie keeps the class fast, light-hearted and energetic with his jokes, personal anecdotes and more. It's exciting to hear firsthand all the amazing experiences you can have bartending around the world. I can't wait to get out there and use my bar tending skills to fund my way backpacking around the globe. :) Because of this course, I landed my first bartending job at a private event... in a penthouse!
