That said, we were so delighted to get a brief tour of the beautiful property, and to be seated in the sunny atrium room for one of our favorite meals during our 8 day visit to Sicily. We kicked things off with fish cakes and a typical Sicilian appetizer - caponata, a sweet and sour eggplant dish with other cooked vegetables. I don't typically like eggplant; this was outstanding. For our main courses, we enjoyed plump, soft gnocchi with butter sage sauce and ravioli with shrimp in a red sauce. Each dish was paired with a glass of wine, all of which were terrific (we purchased 3 bottles as we left). Visiting Baglio Di Pianetto was a wonderful highlight of our Sicily adventure, including the mountainous drive there!

The long road to get there is marked fairly often but be persistent and you'll find the destination. With tbe expansive property they make a number of wines each with a different focus. The winery is full service and unlike others they take care of all packing and shipping so We shipped two cases home. Since the weather was sunny and warm i tended towards whites and grabbed a pair for our local stay. Staff waived our 15 Euro tasting fee and we were stoked. Thank you

They also make olive oil, which was used in the variety of antipasti they shared during the tasting. As part of the tour, we were able to purchase a case of a variety of their wines, and olive oil, and they are shipping it home to us at no additional charge. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

However, after a few general questions about buying a bottle of marsala, we wound up partaking in a delicious tasting of multiple local wines. We enjoyed two unique whites including an aromatic dry moscato, multiple reds including a bold Syrah and an organic blend, marsalas - including a sweet, semisweet, dry, red, and one aged since 1985 - and finally a delicious local Amaro even though we were already committed to buying it. This unexpected service, besides the amazing quality product, made us all the happier with our purchase(s). Unfortunately we did not catch her name, but this woman's hospitality and knowledge made for an incredible and memorable first wine tasting in Sicily. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We sampled various olive oils on bruschetta which was absolutely divine. I bought a sample of the oils. This was our wine brand of choice throughout our visit in Sicily. Our favorite was the Syrah.
