They hold money for extended periods of time. Their customer service is extremely unhelpful.

My wife and I were at Fidelity and had a good adviser. He moved on and we got Wendy Wells. It was fine at first but deteriorated quickly after she convinced us to have Fidelity manage our money. The for almost 18 months we had no access to our money and the money that was invested was in funds that were not keeping pace with inflation. It took us months of working to get access to our money again. No one at Fidelity could figure out why there was a block on our account. We finally moved it to another account and once again gained access to our money. Now I watch is every day, literally, and manage it myself. I am making about 35% which I am satisfied with. Don't trust Fidelity to manage your money. And stay away from Wendy Wells. read more

Fidelity Investments has helped me and my family for years. The staff were polite and helpful with all aspects of investment of my money. They helped us to understand how to use the apps on the internet on both the computer and phone. The parking lot is spacious but tight at times. read more

Fidelity investments is not transparent. I used to have a retirement account with them 15 years ago and recently when I attempted to start a new account they denied me, without telling me any reason. I am a high net worth individual with a 790+ credit score, with low debt and no credit card debt. I think that they viewed me as a person who would not pay fees and denied me for that reason. In any event, this company has some cryptic, hidden, tacit rules that may bar you from obtaining an account - and are clearly not client centered like better brokerages like Vanguard. I hope you will consider Vanguard's service which has typically lower fees and a financial structure that makes the client the owner. I have the bulk of my assets with them. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER need an agent? 2 choices; endless hold times with no idea how long or where you are in Queue so you have to listen to the horrid muzak or miss your call, or fight with a chat bot that keeps asking you the same question then answering that it doesnt understand you and points you to the website no matter how many times you scream at it for a real person. FINALLY it will give up and put you in another queue where you will finally get someone who will either transfer you or give you really bad information. Need to clarify or fix something? return to the chat window hell or muzak hell because the call back you were promised never happened. Finally get your way up to a manager? we are so sorry our agents completely misled you lied to you screwed everything up and cost you a ton of money with bad information. Our bad. Anything else we can do for you? oh your lost money back? um no maybe you shouldnt have listened to our completely untrained staff. Have a nice day! I tried to go online to schedule a basic external rollover of funds from a retirement plan from a PAST empolyer... only to find out that Fidelity has no platform to do this online! Instead, they only supply a 1-800 number to call. So I did this. The service agent was polite, but (as assumed) took a long time to get anywhere. First she wanted to update my address; which seemed irrelevant since I moved within the last month as was literally calling to withdrawal all of my funds from their institution. She then said that the system wouldn't let her change the address easily without verification from the employer... I haven't worked for this employer for over a year; they have no idea that I moved... it didn't make any sense. Eventually, we got to the rollovers (a 401K & 401b) for which they had no intention of sending the funds directly to my chosen IRA provider. Instead, they plan to mail me seperate checks for the amount and I have to send it to my prefered investor. The first rollover was processed smoothly. But then when we got to the second they said "oh" it will only let you do 1 rollover per day; and these are separate funds... so you'll have to callback tomorrow to request the second rollover. What! I've provided this review as a warning... Fidelity apparently tries to lock their customers money in there web of micro-managing everything. My spouse and I have transferred retirement funds from 4 different sources and Fidelity is the only one that made this simple task VERY difficult. I would not recommend them. read more

I stopped in, without an appointment, with my list of what seemed like 50 questions, and spoke with Jeremiah. Jeremiah was extremely professional, helpful, and overall provided exceptional customer service. Excellent banking experience. Efficient, courteous, and thorough, I was quite impressed. I needed a medallion certification and the clerks were all helpful and professional. Fidelity doesn't have a good rep amongst my friends, but after this experience I'm glad to have stopped by. read more
