They rescue not only cats and dogs but also horses, livestock and even wildlife. There is so much to see and it has a really nice atmosphere from the minute you arrive. The setting is stunning, the staff friendly and their love for the animals really shows. The have a non descruction policy and weekly take dogs from wales saving them from a death sentence. They have strict rehoming policies to ensure the animals go to good homes, hold loads of fun charity events, and you can check there website which is updated weekly to see some of the animals that desperately need a new home.

We went here for a look round with our daughter and she thought it was really good that they have…read moredifferent colours of cats in seperate huts and that also have music on and kids chairs and lots of blankets to keep them warm, the dogs have little beds or big ones for the big dogs, with lots of different toys to play with, and in the back they have like a playground where they have even more toys and tunnels to play and do. The animals there are very well looked after and it is a long away from us but it is such a lovely place to go and look round and they have a park for the kids and shops and cafe.They even have lots of other animals, horses, rabbits, goats etc. We will go again if we are passing again .

They are family and give us love as we do them, just take one one, treat them well and make the time with them count, you'll not regret a rescue. Xx

The impression I get from multiple visits to the shelter is that the volunteers and employees are…read morelovely, caring, and quite capable. But the "senior managers" enjoy exercising their bureaucratic power to leverage your emotions and to the detriment of the welfare of the animals in their care. We were approved to rehome a pet. This is a dog with a number of health and behavioral problems. We were willing to pay the fee upfront. But we needed a few extra days as we were arranging shipping, also paid upfront and for which the shipping company requires some extra notice. Despite us all working toward an understanding over the course of a week, an entirely different Battersea "senior manager", suddenly insisted that the pet be taken immediately or would be released from reserve. In other words, despite us making financial and time commitments, and with the understanding it was all agreed, a faceless "senior manager" decided they needed to move some inventory and told us to come down and get him or lose his reserve status. As it stands, the extra wait time we were requesting was six calendar days. Their usual process to complete an adoption is multiple visits spanning one to two weeks. And the pet only came out of medical clearance three days ago so is well within their 35 day average stay before rehoming. We cannot go ahead and pay, in advance, all of the other companies involved if the dog may be taken by someone else, even if he would still be in their kennel. We therefore had to walk away. So, now, this poor animal who has special medical and behavioral needs, will have to sit around for several more weeks in the kennel, on show as it were, hoping someone will be interested. The oxymoronic aspect of this story is that this so-called "senior manager" refused to keep him on reserve for a few extra days because remaining in the kennel is stressful. But by forcing us to walk away, he or she has increased the pet's expected kennel time and potentially eliminated his adoption options entirely. Clearly, the whole affair smacks of a bureaucrat trying to leverage a pet lover's emotions using facetious animal welfare arguments to move inventory. They may be a charity, but let's not forget managers have ambitions and are promoted based on such metrics as "stock turnover." But, even on this basis, this was a poor decision. Because, instead of a guaranteed "sale", just a few days later, they now have a poor dog who will likely be in the kennel longer than otherwise would have been the case. And what happens if the poor animal doesn't find a new home? Well, as they say, the average adoption time is 35 days...

This poor dog has lost his daddy to cancer, and his lifelong doggy companion. Border Collies are smart and sensitive and need an intelligent people to guide them. He was sad and confused, showed some aggression without any harm but was deemed to be put to death. TERRIBLE!!! Give this poor dog a chance and allow the Border Collie rescue who know him, to save his life. Has he not lost enough? Do not give these cruel people one penny until they do the right thing. The world is watching, you are spending all of your charitable donations to legal battles. Just let the poor thing be rescued!

Saw a dog I wanted to adopt and emailed them, heard nothing when I enquired the dog had been adopted by one of their volunteers. If that is one of their practices to give preference to volunteers why put the dog on their site in the first place, get 100s of people applying who have no chance of success and are left wondering why???

The RSPCA centre…read moreat Leybourne totally changed my impression of animal shelters as it is so bright, with incredibly welcoming staff who lavish great love and care on all of the creatures that pass through their door. We have rescued two cats from this centre and found them to have been a fantastic match for our family. The staff here have fantastic intuition for finding your new family member. Whilst it is sad that there are so many loveable creatures in need of a forever home it's great to see firsthand the work that the RSPCA are doing in the knowledge that these animals will eventually go to the best homes for their needs. I could (and have) spent hours here making friends with the residents!
