Unlike a lot of other organic stores, they don't try to force vegetarianism or veganism down your throat: there's even a quite wel stocked meat counter! Not everything they sell is organic, or at least not labeled as such, but if it isn't, it will at least be local, seasonal, and sustainable. Often there are some free tasting samples, something that always makes shopping more interesting. Färm also serves as a pick-up point for Les Paniers Verts (an organic vegetable subscription), and since they keep your box in the cooled vegetable area, it's okay if you're a bit late to collect it. The staff is mostly bilingual NL-FR, but I'm sure most will be able to help you in English as well. They don't really sell household products like washing powder in bulk (yet), so I still go to other stores for that. However, they do sell ingredients to make your own household products, but so far I didn't get around to doing that. Färm could use a bicycle rack in front of the store, but I suppose that's not only up to them to decide.

If I tell you we drive a combined total of almost two hours for the steaks these guys serve.. And we keep going back for more. I think I've said enough! Let's start with the setting.. It's an old farm totally refurbished, they have a wine cellar, whiskey and gin bar up the attic, half open kitchen and the dining hall is located in sort of a green house (winter garden). As far as you can see around you is a hilly landscape full of fields which adds to the total farm experience. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they're good with kids (in the summer time there's a bouncy castle, sheep to look at and go-carts for kids) and they get a lot of foreign customers and treat them as well as they can. The wine selection is good, and you can even go and get a bottle in the wine cellar. You always get home made potato chips, ham and bread as appetizers, followed up by some black pudding sausage, meat salad etc. all products from the butchers shop they run.. And you can take all these products with you when you go home. Let's move on to the meat.. It's not the cheapest but it's the best as far as I know. They serve two kinds of meat.. Veal or junior beef (all own bred cattle), I always tend to go for the last one since I prefer red meat and veal tends to be a lot lighter. Your knife will literally slide trough this tasty redness. I'm also very keen on the extra herb "crust" they put on the meat if you ask them.. Delicious!! The desserts are ok and the coffee is always accompanied by fresh apple cake. The only thing I'm not so fond of is the buffet style salad bar, but I'm not a rabbit so no harm done! Good job guys, keep up the good work.

I have two friends who live at Stockel and they rave about the Saturday markets held in the square…read more So after being in Belgium almost two years, I finally bite the bullet, forego my normal Saturday sleep-in and decide to get on the Metro on a rainy and wet March, to haul ass to to these markets with the excuse of getting a waffle and hot chocolate with my friends. I made it to the markets at around 11:40 (40mins later than planned!!!) and was instantly entranced. There were 3 cheese stores (one sold goat cheese with charcoal, amazing taste!), a Cornish pasty food truck, tons of fruit and veg and flower shops, a honey shop, an amazing charcuterie shop which sold beautiful smoked ham and salami, two different waffle food trucks (I tried both- the big waffle store has sugar cubes and is more traditional but I preferred the small waffle food truck, their dough was heartier, more non-traditional) and also a farm shop selling milk, eggs, butter, yogurt and cheese. I was in foodie heaven, my senses reveling in the sights, sounds and aromas of the market. I loved it and am gonna try and go here at least once a month starting from now.
