Going to feria de mataderos is definitely a great way to spend that lazy Sunday. You get awesome regional food, a taste of a sort of gauchesque crowd/life in the city, folk music and dance and people from all over the country.
Do not go into any restaurant or store, get all your food from the stands, including your cheap patero wine. Don't miss on those street fried empanadas, try the tamales, if you are a vegetarian there's great options too like the Paraguayan food stand with some great veggie options and a lot of other (fried) goods.
Get some home made dulce de leche or jam, try the pancakes, get some horrible coffee from the street cafe vendor, check out the llamas and the mechanic bull and feel like you are out in the campo just a bus ride away from home. Great for groups of friends, parents in town, for kids, even for an original date. You'll find something you like no matter what you are like, no cons here except may be some long lines for the hot stuff and may be the big crowd but you can't avoid that anywhere. read more
