Their produce, while not a huge variety is always crisp and fresh inspiring confidence in their stores. 5 stars. As you pass through that department you encounter meats. You wonder, can $6 prime rib really be good? The answer is a definite hard YES. Their prepackaged prime rib burgers are excellent. Chicken, ground beef all good 4.5 stars. All fresh. Sav-a-Lot has been adding name brands rather than removing them, and at decent prices. Their huge 'Market Fresh' frozen pizza has become family favorites, under ten bucks. Can't say enough good about the stores in Roselawn (and Wheatfield), so I'm going to stop here. Just go there. You won't be sorry.

Decent. If your after name brands you're probably not gonna find them here. However what you will…read morefind is halfway decent cuts of meat at a reasonable price. They are not top shelf, but workable. Especially if you're considering marinating meat before you grill, smoke or whatever. Produce is OK it's usually halfway decent quality but I wouldn't let it sit in your fridge for more than a few days. Liquor section- lot of variety of different microbrews, some wine. Did not see any spirits though. Other things of note, I was looking to smoke a piece of salmon. While I had my salmon already, I needed some teriyaki as a marinade, I was able to find teriyaki there, at save a lot. You're able to find most things here, and again they are reasonably priced. Name brands not so much. Also they are about the only grocery here in (Roselawn). So unless you wanna go to Lowell or Demotte, this is where you go.

Located on the north end of Brookston, R&M Food Market is a wonderful grocery store. They are best…read moreknown for the quality of their meats (motto is: Where Meat is the Main Attraction!) They have a real butcher! My favorites are their NY strip steaks, sirloins, t-bones, and porterhouse as well as perfect cuts for pot roast (which I am making today for dinner). They have many cuts of beef and always have 3 grades of hamburger on hand, from standard to very lean, plus pre-made patties. Their whole chickens are always great and at a much better price than the big stores. there are pre-cut fryer parts, or all wings, all legs, boneless breasts, etc. Pork chops, cutlets, and loin are among the pork products. R&M also makes their own Italian sausage and bratwursts and they are excellent. New additions are bacon brats and jalapeno brats. I should mention they have giant cuts of meat you can take home and cut up yourself and you can have them cut meat to order -- you want two-inch-thick steaks? No problem! They have a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables plus locally grown seasonal favorites, corn watermelon and cantalope. Their white onions are very good. Excellent canned good selection includes national brands and the Shurefine and Value budget brands. Well stocked dairy and freezer (Prairie Farms ice cream is the BEST, but the pineapple sherbet is good, too!), cereal aisle, paper goods, baking aisle, pet food aisle, detergents and cleaning supplies, good soda pop selection, good and improving win and beer assortment, pretty much all of the basics. They carry some Mexican and Italian food items though not the depth you would find in a monster store. But what do you want? This is a locally-owned store with great sense of serving the community. If there is something you purchase regularly, they will do their best to stock it for you. The have a nice deli with all the cold-cuts and cheeses, and daily make salads, baked beans, two or three kinds of potato salad, and so on. They also make fried chicken, potato wedges, poppers, and a number of other deep fried items for a quick hot lunch or dinner when you don't have time to cook. Their nacho cheese is seriously awesome! You will find their weekly specials listed on the sign out front. I think you will love this great local grocery, its convenience and helpful friendly atmosphere. Whether you're shopping for the week, for an afternoon bar-b-cue, just ran out of baby food, R&M is a great place to shop.

I shop the Rensselaer store and find most weekends that you run out of common produce items like…read morebananas, tomatoes, mushrooms, head lettuce or salad packs. The weekend manager was very discourteous when I asked her if she could do something to get more produce items so they won't run out. "I can't do anything about that," she said, and when i asked her if she could let someone who can know about the problem, she turned her back on me. This is the only R+M website i can find to complain. If there is a way to pass this on to those who do the stocking for your stores, i would appreciate it. You're going to lose much of my business because of the attitude of the manager and i spend $100 a week some weeks. Charles K.
